Do not use as surrounds
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sonos turns off the front speaker when you use these as surrounds. There is no option to turn it on. An absolute disappointment in this configuration; my ipad pro speakers sound better than the 300 with no front speaker. My Ones sound better as surrounds. If you use the 300 as a standalone or speaker pair it’s great. Also, they finally added bluetooth (so it wasn’t about sound quality). Getting tired of the constant compromise and disappointment from Sonos products.

SEE APPLE SONOS REVIEWS BEFORE BUYING SONOS
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While some Sonos speakers are good, the Era 300 Speaker (I’ve purchased two different ones) work only intermittently. Sometimes it will start playing something different on its own, most of the time won’t play at all. More importantly, Sonos has tried updating their software several times and now at its best is extremely frustrating. See Apple App Store reviews for Sonos (sort by most recent) to see the average 1 star reviews over the past few months. Many systems, my two extensive systems included, partially work perhaps 10% of the time. Look for other speaker systems before buying Sonos.

The Sonos app doesn’t work and support stinks. Do yourselves a favor and buy Bose or Harmon or anything other then Sonos. This is no reflection on Best Buy but buy anything but Sonos.

“…indistinguishable from magic.”
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Review for Sonos Era 300 Bluetooth Speaker Full disclosure, I already have a Sonos Move and a Sonos Roam speaker, so I have to say, I’m already a fan. But the Sonos Era 300 is, indeed, an amazing leap forward for audio tech. I was young when Science Fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke penned his third law: “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” The Sonos Era 300 is both sufficiently advanced AND magical. Their implementation of Dolby Atmos Music for spatial audio took my breath away. If you’ve never heard it, Atmos music can recreate the studio or concert sound in the space where you’re listening. You can tell where the musicians and vocalists are positioned. In fact if you close your eyes, you can imagine them placed around your living room! Sounds have “height” and can move around you and even fly over your head. Ok, I’m dating myself here, but this reminded me of being a child and hearing stereo (in over-the-ear) headphones for the first time compared to a mono version of a record. The difference is truly night and day. Beside Dolby Atmos, the Sonos Era offers at least two other extraordinary features: in their own words, “bewilderingly easy to set up,” and Trueplay, that uses the speaker’s internal microphone in combination with your phone’s mic to tune the speaker to the acoustics of your room. First, setup is super simple. Because this is a smart speaker, all you need to do is to download and run the Sonos App. The app finds your new speaker, asks you for your preferred WiFi connection, and then does everything else for you. Once set up, you can fine tune the Era 300 with Trueplay. Quick Tuning takes just a minute and is well suited for smaller rooms, but having my Era 300 in a large room, I opted for the Advanced Tuning. As the speaker chirps, you walk around the room with your phone, while waving it around. This is what made me think of the Clarke quote above; I could just as easily imagine waving burning sage using the same motions! This is hefty speaker, weighing in at almost 10 pounds, and the bass created by it is equally hefty. I’m not there (yet), but I’ve read that an optimal home theater setup is the Sonos Arc sound bar coupled with two Era 300 speakers for a truly surround sound experience. More magic awaits!

Dropped the Ball
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do not buy for HT purposes, the front drivers are disabled by design for all non-Atmos content and sound anemic and awful. Used as a pair for Stereo purposes they sound incredible. I'll personally be returning mine until this is addressed.

Best Buy Open Box - Distorted Sound
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased an Open Box Sonos Era 300 from Best Buy. Best Buy claimed that this unit was in excellent condition and met the manufacturing specifications. It does not. It is apparent why the unit was originally returned and became an Open Box unit. The unit is defective with sound that is grossly distorted to the point where it is painful to listen to it. I was not able to link it and listen to it until the 15 day return window had passed so I can not return. I am a long time customer of Best Buy and trusted Best Buy. Not anymore. Anyone listening to this unit for a few seconds can't help but notice the distortion.

Sonas Era 300 Speaker Review
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Could not get this speaker to sync with our Sonas soundbar or our Wifi. Spent about 75 minutes on the phone with Sonas customer service. They finally said it was probably the era of our Wifi. As a result, we returned the speaker to Best Buy. Kudos to Best Buy's return policy and procedure. Very easy.

I would not recommend spending the money the company has like a governor set up to use at 15% max as to not damage the product this is of little use to me.

Posted .It sounds like you’re really frustrated with the Era 300's Bluetooth volume control. This seems to be a significant issue for you, especially given your expectations. Here are a few steps you might consider to address this:
Check for Updates: Ensure your Era 300 is running the latest firmware. Sometimes updates can resolve issues with functionality.
App Settings: Look into the Sonos app for any volume settings or limits that might be affecting the Bluetooth volume.
Sonos Support: Reaching out to Sonos support directly might help, as they could offer specific troubleshooting steps or solutions for the volume issue.
I hope this helps, and that you find a resolution that works for you!

Amazing speaker held back by horrible app!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will start by saying this is my first Sonos product. I was very excited to give it a try because I have heard great things about their speakers including the build and sound quality. Right out of the box I was impressed at how solid this feels. It is a beefy and heavy speaker that does not feel cheap at all. I love the touch buttons on top for adjusting the volume as well as play/pause and skipping tracks. They also clearly spent a lot of time designing the packaging to give that premium user experience. Hooking it up was very easy. I just plugged it in, downloaded the app, and it got connected and updated and I was ready to go! I will start with the sound quality of the speaker. This is by far the best speaker of this size I have ever heard. Everything you have probably heard or read about the Sonos speakers is true. They sound absolutely amazing! They have a good full-range sound with amazing bass. They have simple bass and treble controls, and they also feature spatial audio and a loudness setting. There is not only the main speaker facing forward, but there is also an array of speakers around the top and sides that is supposed to fill the room with audio. I found there to be not much of a difference between a regular song and its spatial audio counterpart. So that’s a little gimmicky to me. But I know it's fairly a new thing, so that may develop over time and become better. If you research spatial audio, you'll find that it's kind of all over the place right now. Some stuff sounds amazing, and others do not. The speaker gets fairly loud. It has settings for 1-100. I found once you get in the 50-60 range the audio starts breaking up and doesn’t sound very good. But even at 50 its still pretty loud. It won’t blow your eardrums out, but it can fill a small room with music. Now I will get to the reason this speaker is not so great for me in its current state, and that has everything to do with the companion app and nothing to do with the speaker. I have an android phone and I have an enormous library of FLAC files that I have ripped in the highest quality possible from CD’s and vinyl. I am talking tens of thousands of songs in various genres and decades. I start by using use the Sonos app. I open up this massive library of songs I have in the app and look for an artist I want to play. For some reason the list of artists is not in alphabetical order and there is no way to put them in alphabetical order (that I can find). Imagine trying to find an artist in a list of hundreds that aren’t alphabetized! A quick google search shows me that this is an issue that has been brought up over a year ago and still hasn’t been fixed by Sonos. That worried me that support for these might not be the greatest and Sonos might not listen to what its customers want. The Sonos app also doesn’t display album art very well. Maybe 1 in 100 albums actually shows album art. Any other app I have ever used to play music from that library shows the album art without any problems. I used the same method to rip pretty much everything in my library. So why does it show for a select few and not everything? Using Apple Music also has similar frustrations. You can't just use the Apple Music app on your phone (unless you use it as a Bluetooth speaker), you have to link your account to the Sonos app and then it opens Apple Music inside the Sonos app. It looks horrible, there isn’t album art for most things and you don’t get the same results in search as you do in the regular Apple Music app. For example, I searched for Spatial Audio in the playlist section on the Sonos app it shows me 2 results in Apple Music. If I do that same search in Apple Music on my computer, I get 61 different playlists to choose from. So then I went to just plug my phone directly into the speaker so I could use whatever app I wanted to on my phone. I looked on the back of the speaker and there is a USBC port to plug your phone into. I looked in the manual and it said Era 300 features a USB-C port on the back which can be used with the Sonos Line-In Adapter or the Sonos Combo Adapter. Both adapters allow you to connect a 3.5mm audio cable to your Era 300 for audio Line-In. Ok, I went back to my box to grab that adapter to plug my phone in. Nope, nothing in the box. Seriously…a $500 speaker and you cant include a USBC adapter!! I know what you are saying, why don’t you just use it as a Bluetooth speaker. Yes, you are able to do that and just play over Bluetooth. The problem is that if you get a notification it comes through the speaker. If you watch a video or something on your phone it stops the music and plays through your speaker. All I want to do is have uninterrupted music playing in the background and not get my phone and email notifications playing through the speaker. So, for me, its an amazing sounding speaker that is completely held back by its software and lack of accessories in the box. If Sonos put as much into the development of their app as they do their speaker design and sound, it would be an amazing product!

Would not work with Bluetooth
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very complicated and I actually returned for refund. The unit was supposed to be Bluetooth ready, but you have to be in an established Wifi network to use it. You cannot just stream music to the speaker. Disappointing. I spent almost an hour with customer service trying to get it to work with no results.
