Great speaker
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sonos Five is relatively expensive as a single speaker, but the wireless setup is great if you prefer a clutter-free environment. I gave paired this speaker with the Victrola Carbon Stream wireless turntable and it delivers rich sound that easily fills my living room. Easy to set up and to pair with multiple devices to stream music from.

The best for Wi-Fi only. Not for TV or computer
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Absolutely amazing sound! You do not need a subwoofer and I’m a bass guy. Shocking bass and HiFi sound in such a small package. Buy two of these for an amazing stereo experience. They were decent with one speaker but over the top amazing with two. The downside. Only use these for listening to music through Wi-Fi. Don’t try anything else. I tried every trick in the book to use them as computer speakers. The delay is very real if you do and very unacceptable. Because they sounded so good I kept trying to force the issue. The port on the back for input sounded terrible. It cut the quality down so bad I couldn’t believe it. Then to get rid of the delay I actually spent $400 on a Sonos sound bar to connect the computer directly to and get around Wi-Fi. Then I paired/grouped the fives with the soundbar. It almost worked. The soundbar and the fives were not putting out sound at the same time. I just had to turn the sound off on the soundbar and the fives were working in real-time with my computer. What a waste to spend $400 just for a direct connection to my computer. I thought I had it licked. As I enjoyed them over a couple weeks I found too many problems. The sound would cut out every so often and the soundbar would decide to turn itself up and the delay would be apparent. I gave it a valiant try. Don’t do it. They are not computer speakers and there’s no way to manipulate them into being that. I took off a star because with one or two “quality” inputs on the back these could be used for so much more than just playing music through Wi-Fi. Like using them with your entertainment system, TV or a computer. It might cost them $20 to add a feature that would allow the speaker to be used in all types of applications without a delay. I was so sick of the issues I have had with my Bose 500, 700 and 900 systems I was going to start migrating over to Sonos. This was going to be my transition set of speakers. Now they lost me. I took the same $1500 I spent on the two fives and soundbar and bought a couple powered KEF LSX II. Much smaller and fit on my desk. They required a sub though to sound good. Another $1500. I had a quality sub laying around so it worked out. Why are there no quality computer speakers??

GREAT SPEAKER!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Beautiful sound from the Five. I was glad that this speaker gets really loud and the bass is so nice and doesn’t reverb so it’s a good clean bass sound. I paired it with 2 ones SL and my bedroom is a music haven now. Would definitely recommend this speaker if you’re looking for high quality sound on a stationary speaker for home use.

Great speaker - but check compatability carfully.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this intending to set up a stereo pair with my Play 5... unfortunately that doesn't work even though they seem to be functionally equivalent.

4**** only because...
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My only gripe w/ the 5 (and most of Sonos products) are price and lack of Bluetooth. Otherwise the 5 the choice of sound for me!!! If you can these on sale it's a go!!! What you get w/ the stereo pair of ones...you get w/ the 5 and some bass. The bass alone is impressive. It's very loud too...it can fill up a house at 50% volume. The stereo pair of 5s are ok, it just guarantees to fill up the whole house w/ sound. But, a easier way to decide which route to go is for me to say again...A stereo pair of ones equal a 5 alone

Great sound for my turntable
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sonos Five has completely changed how I listen to records at home. Running a stereo pair connected to my turntable, the soundstage is wide, immersive, and incredibly detailed — deep bass, clear mids, and crisp highs that do justice to vinyl. Trueplay tuning dials everything in perfectly, and together they fill the room effortlessly at any volume. Worth every penny

Sound is amazing but pricey. Still worth it for me
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's pricey but the sound has been excellent. Especially when pairing them in stereo. The bass and treadle sounds great. I'm sure it would be even amazing with a sub too. I originally bought for surround speakers but thought it was overkill for my small room.

An excellent speaker.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. An excellent speaker. Feels, looks, and sounds great! The base sound is robust and it is so easy to set up. Works great with Audio -Technica turntable thanks to the line-in port. Pricey but worth it in my opinion.

Five is GREAT, but One SL's may serve the purpose
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Loved the SONOS Five and really appreciate the fact that the Best Buy sales person said I could try it out and return it if not satisfied. I did truly love the SONOS Five, but found that I could purchase a couple of One SL's and place them in the house easier due to the size of the Five. I had thought about using 2 SONOS Five's as back speakers with my Arc and Sub, but was talked into to SL Ones which was a wise choice. I purchased more SL Ones for the home, but wanted to know how the Five would do in comparison, hence the sales person telling me to buy it and return it if I wasn't happy. Like I said, I was VERY happy with it, but due to the size and cost I opted to buy more One SL's to spread over the house as the Five is pretty big and much harder to locate in a bedroom. It did sound better, especially the bass, but the adjustments with the equalizer function on the One SL's made it acceptable. So I returned the Five and now have a total of 6 One SL's, a Move, an Arc and a subwoofer providing outstanding music sounds throughout the house.

Pure joy but may depend on your ears.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sonos Five is their top of the line speaker. Whats better than a single speaker? A pair. The stereo pair is amazing, but is also fine as a single speaker. Sound is different for everyone. You may not appreciate the five as much as say the new Era 300 depnding on your ears and music preferences. Or you may hot even be able to hear the difference. I have both, in pairs. To me, the difference is like comparing where you are hearing the music. The Five sounds like music in a theatre with wood and stone. The Era 300 sounds like music in a cafe with glass and maybe marble. They're both amzing but the spatial audio of the 300s really give the five a run for its money. For the lows, bass, I would say the Five wins. As with most things Sonos, you have to have the volume turned up to 45-50 to say now thats a good speaker. Of course anything over 60 your neighbor might be knocking on the wall if you happen to share a wall. The five is older tech, no doubt, so no bluetooth audio. The Sonos app is getting better with age but some services like Youtube Music is still a bit painful to find what you are wanting to hear. Other music services each have pluses and minuses while accessed via Sonos controller. HD music or lossless sounds amazing on either model. The reason i now have a pair of Sonos Fives is because i have opted to use the Era 300s as surrounds with the Arc sound bar on the tv. What you dont discover til after purchase is that once in this setup, the bluetooth direct stream from device is now inoperable. And using the 300s as a stero pair is also no longer an option unless you ungroup your surround setup and reconfigure back to a pair. Not impossible but time consuming whenever you want to play music the old fashion way in stero. So Sonos got more money from me just because of my need for simplicity. Could you save money and just do a couple Era 300s and be satified with your purchase? Absolutely. The Fives might be more appealing with their square appearance and 3.5mm aux input. Are other speakers better than Sonos? Yes. It's more about the ecosystem. Once you buy into it, you just keep expanding.

Great speakers.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What can i saw, they sound amazing. I did run into the error on it not finding the speaker, but was able to figure it out with ease. I use a android phone, amd people would saw to exit tue app and go back in for it to pick up the speaker.... well i noti ed even when i closed the app, the sonos app would still be in the upper LEFT of my phone like i was playing music. I rebooted my phone, and it did pickup the new speaker. Glad i figured this out as a lot of people seem to run into issues when they connect to five speakers for their surround sound. I currectly have the ark, 2 fives, Gen 3 sub. It literally sounds like im in a movie theater. My only complaint is this system is insanely expensive for the whole setup.

Great speaker for price
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the Sonos 5 in white. The set up is very easy to follow (very Apple-esque) and I like that it automatically registered my speaker. This speaker fills up my living room area. The sound quality is great for this product, but not as great as a two stereo set up of high end speakers which run up of $2k-$3k or more. But, for $500 this speaker provides great sound quality and works with my pandora, amazon music, and iheartradio apps to play whatever music I am feeling. Plus it has an outlet so you can plug in for playing form another device and you can even feed in a record player if you get an adaptor for the input into the Sonos 5. Pleased with my purchase.

Probably the best Sonos speaker
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wish I would have purchased the Sonos Five years ago! I've had several Sonos Play 1's throughout my home for at least 5 years now and I use them all the time. I always wished the Play 1's had more bass or more robust sound, but was always hesitant to buy a Sonos Five due to the cost. I finally decided to take the plunge and purchase one and I am extremely glad I did and as I said earlier, I wish I would have done it years ago. I have a Sonos Five and 2 Play 1's in a very large room and you can definitely tell when the Sonos Five is not turned on. I played several different songs and would turn the Five off and on and you can definitely tell how much extra sound the Five adds.

Fantastic speaker for Sonos users.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm all in on Sonos as a system throughout my house. I added the Sonos 5 to connect to a turntable and needed to have a Sonos speaker with a line in. This was the only one. The speaker is physically smaller than I thought it would be from the pictures, but it sounds fantastic. Other than a Sonos Playbase, this is the largest Sonos that I have and it had more bass than I thought it would - even before adjusting the EQ in the app. If you have other Sonos speakers and are looking to add another one, the Sonos Five will not disappoint. I highly recommend it.

Favorite Sonos speaker to date
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have many Sonos speakers and started purchasing them gen 1. The Five is my favorite by far with incredibly rich sound. The addition of airplay makes use seamless and easy enough for the whole family to control including my children 7 and 10. I will be purchasing another to add to our home when I am able to.

Great sound, great bass!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have an old cassette deck that I like to use on occasion. I didn’t have a way to use it after I sold my receiver and surround system. I am pretty deep into the Sonos ecosystem, so it was a no brainer for me to add this speaker. The sound is full and rich. It works great outside as well to supplement the Sonos One’s I have on my back porch. Helps to fill the rest of the yard in nicely.
