Customers are saying

Customers are positive about the One (Gen 2) Smart Speaker's sound quality, ease of use, and compact size, with many praising its setup process and bass response. However, customers are negative about the lack of Bluetooth connectivity and some inconsistencies with the voice assistant and app functionality. The price point also received mixed reviews, with some finding it a bit high. Overall, the speaker's audio performance is a major selling point, though some features require improvement.

Finally an upgrade for my beta Amazon Echo

    Posted .

The Sonos One gen 2 is everything I was hoping and more, a suitable upgrade path for my Alexa devices with improved sound quality, a much richer feature set, and a premium feel and look that doesn't stick out. If you are considering the first gen Sonos One, think twice: That version may not fully support the upcoming AirPlay 2 standard, as it utilizes a slower processing unit. Glad I held off until now, but now that I have my first Sonos speaker in my home, I've got the itch to replace all my other smart speakers and take advantage of the whole home audio experience that Sonos is known for. I've had some minor issues with Alexa that I did not have with my previous (beta 1st generation) Echo, with it picking up my voice, and some of my old commands don't seem to work on this device. Also I find it frustrating that I can't change the wake word to "Computer" which I have to un-learn, and put up with TV, radio, etc. activating the wake word by accident, a problem I was glad to avoid. For these minor issues, I had to dock a star.

Hi, and thank you for writing a review. We're very sorry Best Buy didn't not return your Sonos One. However, you one star does not impact Best Buy, it impacts our product only. We understand if you don't, but we do ask that you write a review about our product only, and not Best Buy. If we can help with anything we would love to do that as well. Feel free to reach out to us at sonos.com/support. We would love to get you up and running if we can. Thank you! john.milton

    No bluetooth?!?

Seriously? No bluetooth? This is an awesome speaker. Sounds fantastic. Sonos app is pretty good. Being able to use Google Assistant or Alexa (although not both at the same time... you have to choose just one to be active at a given time) is a really cool feature. But honestly, I didn't even consider the possibility that this speaker couldn't be used as a bluetooth speaker. That's disappointing. Another minor issue is that you can't launch Audible using voice commands if Google Assistant is your voice assistant of choice. That's probably not Sonos fault (Amazon vs Google), but still annoying for the user. I'm mostly just annoyed there are a handful of things I can't play on this speaker from my Android phone because it can't be used as a bluetooth speaker. Honestly probably a deal breaker for me... I'll probably return this.

    Great Birthday Present

My comparison point is a goggle home mini it replaced. Sounds a lot better, but it was harder to set up. It failed to connect to my network 1st time, failed to sync with google voice the 1st time and when trying to add the speaker on the home app for Siri commands it failed multiple times. Once it sets up I like it. The mics seem to be better than the mini in hearing us. It’s odd in certain commands like “stop” don’t work like the mini - I have to be more specific “stop playing music” for it to work. It’s cool I can turn on airplay for it and my Apple TV at the same time allowing me to play the same music. I was hoping it would group with my other google minis to create a google speaker group but it won’t work with that. It’s cool because it’s basically a cheap version of the Sonos network (was hoping to utilize my minis and Sonos at the same time but it won’t work). I think my family will like it. We listen to most of our music in the kitchen and the sound is a lot better than the mini it replaced. I think over time they will iron out the setup issues and will be even better for other customers.

    Nice speaker, bad app

    Posted .

While this speaker is great in the sense that it sounds good for mid and low volume music playing, it has several glaring shortcomings that I found out after I bought it. First, there's notable distortion in sound at higher volume levels and sound drops. Second, the lack of Bluetooth streaming ability is just inane in this day and age, and puts this speaker behind many of its peers, especially at this price point. Finally, one other big shortcoming is the deficiency in the app you need to use to manage it. While it has lots of great features, the app does NOT work with YouTube Music. Despite hours troubleshooting, I couldn't get it it connect to my account, got fed up and returned the speaker as a result, buying a JBL instead that I have no issues with playing anything on. In this day and age if you're going to have an app-driven device, you need to make it work, plain and simple. I'm not going to waste time trying to get your terrible app to perform what should be simple and basic functions.
