The only issue I have is the difficulty getting it connected to my Alexa. It took me hours and phone call to Sonos to finally get it connected.

It is excellent. My problem is with (1) the Sonos company's unsatisfactory response to a known issue with the Sonos One and Amazon Alexa voice support, and (2) the general lack of connectivity of the Sonos One speaker. It's a wifi only device (no bluetooth and no line input). Amazon no longer supports uploading your own personally curated music library to their cloud storage and playing it with Alexa voice commands. (They want you to buy the music from them and then they expect you to also subscribe to a streaming music service if you want to use voice commands.) The only option that supports voice control of personally curated music is an Alexa skill called "MyMedia for Alexa." It is widely used by music enthusiasts. This skill enables Alexa to use voice commands to play music and playlists that are stored locally on a PC or Mac. The MyMedia skill processes voice commands flawlessly with "native" Amazon smart speakers such as the original Echo, the Dot, and the Tap. HOWEVER, the Sonos One is a different story. Here's an example of a typical command that works flawlessly with an Amazon smart speaker: "Alexa, ask MyMedia to play my Christmas playlist." With the Sonos One, the first song from the playlist begins to play as expected. After completing the first song, it repeats the same song endlessly. If you say "Alexa, next track," the MyMedia skill advances to the next track and the Sonos plays it over and over! This same behavior occurs with single songs and album tracks. they also repeat endlessly! This has nothing to do with an incorrect setting of "looping" or "shuffle mode." It also has nothing to do with the MyMedia skill. It's a bug in the Sonos implementation of the Amazon Alexa tool kit. Sonos has been aware of this problem for over two years as evidenced by internet responses for help from their technical support staff. Just Google it and see for yourself. They acknowledge a technical issue and then ignore it. Essentially, they say "we're working on it and hope to have it fixed soon." The native Sonos software plays these same playlists, songs, and albums correctly, but of course voice commands don't work at all with Sonos software. You also have to load all the information about your music library into the Sonos controller software. The bottom line is that I'm stuck with a $200 paperweight. CONNECTIVITY: Sonos only supports wifi connectivity with this device. Surely they could have added a 3.5mm audio input (or support for bluetooth) that would at least provide some limited flexibility. That would have allowed me to route input from an inexpensive Echo Dot to the Sonos speaker and let the Dot do the heavy lifting to make Alexa voice commands work correctly. If you want to play your own curated music, do yourself a favor and avoid Sonos products! The Sonos One is advertised as supporting Alexa voice commands. That's why I bought it. However, this feature is crippled and virtually useless for playing a personal music library.

We would ask you consider that we must work with Amazon and other voice partners when it comes to updating these integrations. It's truly a collaborative effort to make these changes and we do our best to launch quality updates to our end users together!
There are a few reasons well felt best not to add 3.5mm and bluetooth. We feel that if you're at home and on wifi (which is what our speakers are designed for) then streaming via wifi is a superior experience for the following reasons.
1) Much better range
2) No notification interruptions
3) Better battery life for your controller (ie phone, tablet)
4) No extra compression of streaming
We do however make a bluetooth capable speaker for listening on-the-go which is where bluetooth really shines. 3.5mm port would mean that we would have to redesign this product and fit more parts inside of it potentially forcing us to make the One/One SL bigger.
