At first I was worried it not having Bluetooth capabilities. I have not missed not having it. You can connect your Pandora, Spotify, iHeart Radio and many more. The sound quality is great (for my standards). If you have a Plex server, then you get to listen to your own digital library. You can also play music that’s you have stored on your device. If you like waking up to music, you can create an alarm that uses your favorite music.

This speaker has a high quality sound that’s not too overbearing or has too much bass. It’s easy to set up and use!

Sonos Truly delivers with the PLAY 1

In addition to their lineup. The Play 1's are a welcome addition. For a small unit, it has good low end control, even at high volume. The build quality is excellent. When paired with the whole house system, it shines the most. We have a PLAY 1 in the kitchen and a PLAY 3 adjacent in the dining room, the PLAY 1 delivers a more solid sound. However, I personally think it is due to my placement, so that is also key and take into consideration. Overall, great value and if you can buy 2, even better!

I bought this unit as demo. I wanted to check out the sound. Why do such a thing for such an expensive device? Well, I also have bought into Samsung's SmartThings Home Automation/ Smart Home platform. I needed a compatible speaker so that I could do announcements for event based triggers. Seems expensive just for that purpose, but I figured this "demo" plus use in my home automation would be a good way to decide whether or not I want to continue to spend on this platform. I want to ultimately replace my tired small Sound Bar now that I've bought my first home and don't have to worry about apartment neighbors. I'd like something movable and flexible. This product seems to fit that bill nicely. PROS: - Great Sound. - Easy to setup provided you have supported devices to do it. - Works great with SmartThings (provided SmartThings itself is working LOL) - There is a good API. Since they won't be supporting Universal Windows Platform (a major CON), at least I can use TheHomeRemote to design a custom app to control my device (and potential expanded system). I will still likely need to keep a lousy Android phone around to do other admin stuff, however. I knew full well what to expect when I bought this unit. There are many limitations, but I wanted to see if I could live with them. Here are my perceived cons: CONS: - While WIFI mesh communication between units is great idea, I think I'd prefer still the option to stream to the "system" via Bluetooth. It's convenient, doesn't require a controller app, etc. I get it's not the same and certainly not what they intend, but it's how I feel. I don't want to ask friends and guests to install the controller app whenever they want to play some music, for ex. If not Bluetooth, then at least Line-In on all of their models to accommodate for this. - Controller app is required for basically everything. - Controller app(s) are rather cluttered and I don't believe is as smooth to navigate as it should be. - Controller app for Windows 10 (desktop/ mobile) is not in the works and is not being considered at-all at this time. This means if you're a Microsoft person, you better settle for Win32 or own an iPhone/Android device to do stuff. This is based on an official reply to community requests on forums 4/15/2016 see (https://en.community.sonos.com/controllers-software-228995/windows-10-controller-6730901/index9.html#post16005816) - With their somewhat recent reduction in workforce and refusal to support new and emerging OS (Windows 10, notably), I'm concerned that their refocused effort to compete with Amazon Echo (i.e. voice control) and the like, will mean a much quicker end to support for existing products. These are pretty expensive speakers to be worrying about support any time soon. I remember when I bought my first JamBox before they became big... not long after they became popular and decided to build bigger units, they just dropped support for updating my model (which was one of the selling points behind the unit for me in addition to super portable audio). I didn't cry too much, I got it a super promotional price at AT&T when they debuted. Final word: I'll be researching competing solutions before considering any additional buys into this platform. If you're an Apple/ Android user, however, this system does pump out some great sound.
