I purchased 2 of these speakers to start off with. Let's just say that I'm so happy with SONOS and their speakers than I now have 4 Play1 speakers, a soundbar, and a subwoofer... and I am planning on purchasing more!!!
It is EXTREMELY easy to setup. Just plug into power, install controller app on phone/computer, and connect. To add more speakers, you plulg in the power, go into the app and hit "Add a speaker" and it'll do everything!
The quality of the sound is amazing for a tiny speaker. What surprised me the most is the quality of the bass. It has fairly good bass for the cheapest speaker in the lineup.
Range all depends on your wifi setup. I have a very strong router with amazing range, so it reaches throughout my entire house, even across the street.
Overall, I'm more than happy. Several drawbacks:
- Cost. at $200 a speaker, they add up real quick
- No bluetooth connectivity. I wish I could just connect with my phone or other bluetooth device and play the audio through that. For example, my Bose sound system had bluetooth connectivity, and I could connect my phone with it and play games with the sound system playing the audio. SONOS system is limited to playing audio from within the app (such as pandora, music files, etc)
- Power outlet required. This speaker is wireless, except for needing a power outlet. I wish it came with the option to put in some batteries. I want to put some of these speakers outside in my backyard during parties, but there's no outlets nearby.

I love the PLAY: 1 speakers. I have a bunch of them now across multiple rooms and it's very easy to either listen to specific music in specific rooms or have my whole home listening to one thing (handy around the holidays). I haven't had any issues with hooking them into the online streaming services (I use Apple Music which allows me to sync with my iTunes playlists).
I only see two main downsides. First, there is no aux imports of any sort off of the PLAY: 1 speakers. For that, you'll need a PLAY: 5 or a PLAYBAR. Second, be ready to spend a lot of money as you can't just buy one (or two, or three...). It's a great system, but you'll always want to buy more of them.

I purcahsed to try out the sound and ease of set up with idea to set up new home with all wireless speakers. It took less than one minute to connect to wireless network, sound was amazing for such a small size and has a great design. Moreover the Sonos app makes it very easy to control device, with software for both speaker and app undated. Based upon the purchase of this speaker, I have since purchased the Sonos Sound Bar for the 65 in television, which is also amazing, plan on purchasing a couple of the Sonos 3s and 5s.

The sonos system comes close to perfection. It has good sound , it streams music reliably, it looks good, it is expandable, it is very easy to setup, and sonos speakers can be grouped together.
To make it perfect, I wish it also included airplay instead of having to use a workaround to make it airplay functional. Also the price is a bit prohibitive, especially if you add several speakers. Finally, I wish the app was a bit more user friendly. But once you get used to it, it does the job. Overall, I am very happy with my sonos system.

I've heard about Sonos for years, but never EVER wanted to pay that much for speakers. We built a new house and needed speakers for the living room. I wanted to go wireless, but didn't want bluetooth (I have bluetooth speakers for my iPhone and iPad and they are okay, but not the quality I wanted). Heard from a friend about how he got Sonos speakers and a soundbar and loved it! I couldn't afford what he shelled out and I don't want the ones with Alexa as I don't like the idea of devices which are constantly listening to what's going on in my house.
I bought the Play1 and, holy cow! The setup was extremely easy and the sound is AMAZING! The depth, clarity, and volume from such a small speaker is unbelievable to me. I have no idea how they get that much bass without a subwoofer. I love being able to play from Pandora and Amazon Music accounts, even my iPhone and have amazing sound in the room (open to the kitchen). I've moved it a couple of times to try new places and new rooms and it sounds great everywhere. I ONLY wish I could afford the soundbar and another Play1 to play the sound from the TV and complete the room. Will have to save up for it for sure, and it may take a year, but it will be worth it!

I've had high quality stereo equipment dating back to my college days in the 1970s. So when listening to various systems, I'm often not particularly impressed. But when we moved into our new house this year, it became clear that transitioning to a wireless environment was inevitable. I was hesitant to start with Sonos players, mainly because I wasn't sure how the sound quality would be (kind of pricey too). But we decided to go with a sound bar with a sub for the TV in the family room, and two Play 3s for the bedrooms. I liked the way we'd set it up, but what about the living room? It's a fairly large space with 12 foot ceilings. Was I going to have to spring for the Play 5s? After doing a lot of research, it seemed like pairing two Play 1s might be the way to go, and I am very happy with the decision. Surprisingly clear and balanced sound for such small speakers, and they are aesthetically excellent as well. They have plenty of power as far as I'm concerned, and unless you really need or want to blast a ton of sound in your listening area, these are more than good. The bass is clearly present without being overwhelming. This setup does not rattle anything, particularly my nerves. I'm not going to add a sub because I think these speakers produce a very good overall reproduction of what most artists intended for us to hear. We got them in white and paired them with the Sanus WSS2 stands (highly recommended). They look as impressive as they sound.

Pro- great sound, easy to set up, easy to link with other Sonos speakers. We have the Play1 in the bedroom, which I use for an alarm clock. We also link the Play1 to our Play3 that we keep in the living room. it's loud enough to hear throughout the house.
Con- Occassionally the Sonos system says it cannot find my iTunes library which is frustrating, but not the end of the world. It's easily remedied through the Sonos website.

This Is Much More Than A Basic speaker. It links to your wifi and smart phones and u have access to music and radio stations all over the world. You can listen to radio stations in Antarctica, Russia, or anywhere in the world! So amazing that we're gradually buying one for each room in the house. The Play 1 speaker is great for a bedroom or bathroom. Go with the bigger one for the larger rooms in the house. We actually set up 2 speakers in the family room and they link to make stereo left and right. Truly the best system I ever had.

These are great.
Set up is a breeze, download the app, sync to your wifi, then connect to the speakers - easy!
The sound from them is fantastic, I have 3 around the house, and playing together is like being in a concert hall. You can have each speaker playing separate music from either your own collection on the phone, on your computer, or from the many internet radio stations that you can link to for free.
I have nothing bad to say about these!

I've got several SONOS speakers throughout my house, but not the Play:1. I thought that they wouldn't have enough bass to provide a good listening experience, but I was wrong. I bought just one to put in the master bathroom so I wouldn't have to turn up the Play:5s that are in the bedroom to hear while I took a shower and got ready. I'm very happy with the way it fills the room with sound. And, as always, it was very easy to add to an existing system. SONOS certainly does wireless speakers right.

I previously purchased a Sonos Playbar to use with my TV and have been very pleased with the sound and flexibility of that unit. We recently converted a screened porch into a sunroom and wanted a simple way to enjoy Pandora, Sirius and local radio in the sunroom, so we decided to add a Play:1 to our Sonos setup. The sound is great, especially for a unit so small; it easily fills the room. The ability to select music and control volume with iPhones, iPad or laptop makes everything convenient. We're very pleased with the purchase and will happily buy Sonos again.

I just purchased the Play 5, and two Play !'s earlier today. I cannot be any happier with my purchase. Let's start off with the intentions of the purchase. I am a sophomore in college living in a dorm, and love quality music. Are these speakers going to be over kill for my dorm room? Yes. Will I have the best speaker set up in my college? HECK Yes!
To start off, SONOS in general is expensive. It is one of the more expensive speakers on the market, but compared to all the other ones that Best Buy has, this is by far the best one I have listened to. I love how easy it is to set up, as well as how expandable this is. I was considering either the $1750 sony sound bar/sub woofer, or the SONOS. I ultimately choose the SONOS because I am not limited to just one speaker, but I can buy as many as I want. I also see it as an investment because when I move out of college into an apartment, I already have an awesome home theatre set up that I can add a sound bar and subwoofer to.
Lets get to the quality. It is amazing! If recommend buying two of the Play 1's, because they can then be synced to be used as stereo. It gives a more "surround sound" type of feel. It also doesn't sound too tinny, and for such a small compact speaker, it pumps out a very nice sound and a decent volume.
Overall, I give this a 5/5 and would recommend it for anyone looking to add it to their home theatre set up, or just to use as a wireless speaker in their room. This speaker can pump out pretty good volume so it would be fine for a small office or any normal size room in a house!

This is my first time to purchase and set up my Sonos system. I took them home and followed the instructions provided by the manufacturer and the set up went very smoothly. I even had a set of wired patio speakers that I added to my system and they work perfectly with my Sonos. The sound and control is exactly what I was looking for. I love using my phone to turn the system on, change channels and even turn certain speakers off. I highly recommend Sonos!

Bought my first Sonos Play 1 for my home office a few months back. I immediately went out and bought 4 more for other rooms in our house. They put out an amazing sound for their size, both in volume and sound quality. The white and the black look great in any room and the size makes it inconspicuous. I can have the same song playing in every room, or different songs in each one. These are extremely versatile and have never dropped a song. Amazing purchase, well worth the money.

This play 1 speaker is downright spectacular. The sound quality is superb. No hiccups,no wifi issues,no breakage in sound or loss of quality. This Play 1 was very easy to connect to my home network. Once connected,I was able to stream music from every source possible(Spotify,Play music,Pandora,etc..). Play 1 just works flawlessly. Well worth the money. So much so,that after I purchased this one, weeks later,I purchased another one for a different part of my house. Excellent!!!

I have now purchased 4 of these units and have them in different parts of my home. I purchased them prior to the holidays and having the music throughout the house was great. They have great sound, not booming but loud enough to play music in the background. Easy to use was mission criticle due to my wife is not a technical so it must have been easy to use and this porduct passed the test. Now they are a bit on the high side regarding the price but overall good product.

Definitely glad i chose the Sonos Play 1 over the Bose bluetooth speaker i was originally planning to get. The Sonos speaker was easy to set up and the app is easy to use and has a nice look to it. I love that because it is wifi i don't have to worry about my music being interrupted, and if i want to play something on my phone i can do so without pausing anything. I am nowhere close to a professional in terms of judging sound quality, but in my opinion it is amazing. I tend to judge a speaker solely on how loud it can go while keeping the fullness of the sound and if it can handle bass (especially at louder volumes). The speaker can definitely fill multiple rooms without distorting the sound, so for right now i will be using one for downstairs. I plan on buying another to go upstairs, so i will probably get the Hay Sonos (in hunter green) next, since there is a wider color range.

These speakers are very easy to setup and have an excellent sound that complements the Sonos home theater package with a Playbase and Subwoofer. Amazing sound and wireless. The Sonos app is excellent and connects to WiFi, not bluetooth, which is brilliant. I also have one in the kitchen that can be played separately or together with the other Sonos speakers. Cannot say enough how great these speakers sound.
