Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the Play:5 Wireless Speaker's superb sound quality, ease of use, and strong bass. Many also appreciate its straightforward setup and attractive design, although some find the price to be high. A few users noted the speaker's weight and some compatibility issues with certain devices. Overall, the positive feedback on audio performance outweighs the negative comments regarding cost and compatibility.

This speaker is well suited for larger rooms, and has the ability to work with a second one to give a stereo effect. The sonos app is easy to use and manage the speaker. This speaker can be played separately or combined with other sonos speakers located on the network.

These are very good speakers, although you’ll probably enjoy them more as a pair. Expensive but worth the cost when compared to other like speakers/technology. Perfect for big spaces as well. 4-1/2 stars because of the connectivity and software bugs to be worked out. (Newer technolog, wi-fi speakers)

What's expected of a Sonos system

The Play 5 is pretty much what is expected of a typical Sonos speaker. The premium price, close to that of the Sub or Soundbar, does leave a bit to be desired. The lack of an optical input is highly disappointing, for example. Sound quality is pretty fantastic, and of course the app is probably the weakest point when investing into the Sonos environment. I will note that it is hard to justify the Play 5 beyond a single dedicated extension of an existing Sonos setup for a single room that isn't covered by other speakers. This particular speaker should satisfy needs to fill audio in a room with adequate base/sound.

Set this up for my work office (single room) and it just fills the space. No distortion even at loud volumes (which is pretty much what we keep it on for parties/happy hours, etc.). Everyone loves that they can add their own songs to the queue. It's pricy, but the experience is well-designed and as frictionless as it gets.

I have just a single Sonos 5 and it fills the room with wide spectrum sound. Amazed that such a small unit is so vibrant with sound detail with six speakers built into it. The Sonos app can be a little quirky as noted in the iTunes app reviews for the latest version. Otherwise it is a great sound system.

While the speaker carries a high price tag, it provides great sound with a seamless setup process. Music from the speaker is clear with good midrange and enough low end to satisfy most people. It sounds good with a variety of music genres but is not bass heavy like some other brands of speakers.

I moved into a new home and had been eye balling Sonos products prior to the move. A couple of months after settling in I decided to splurge on some audio. After having Sonos for three months, what I can tell you is.... awesome. This is my second Play 5. Fills my carport with awesome sound. Inside the home it is very impressive. And wireless!!! except for power so I move them around if I have some company. It plays all the XM radio channels (including On Demand) and other services. Overall, 5 Stars if you can get past the Value which is certainly no more than 3-4 but the technology is where it's at. I choose Play 5 over two Play 1's if you have a larger room. It's a personal preference. I've also bought the Open Box "Excellent" for two Sonos products and have had no problems (saves you on the taxes). Also, Sonos only goes on sale once or twice a year (per the sales rep and also what I've witnessed). If you miss that time period I would not sit around and wait. Saving average ~$50 for the higher priced and $20 for the lower priced items.

There is no better wired home speaker out there. Period. You will not believe the quality of the sound that comes from this unit. And the volume can surely outperform its size. My one complaint: Sonos needs a YouTube app and it would be great if they could speed the roll-out of Alexa compatibility.

Love love love this Sonos wireless speaker. Before purchasing I placed it next to a similar Bose speaker & the Sonos was far superior. The sound is amazing, crisp and clear. Also very easy to set up. I've recommended to a few friends & they are very happy with their purchase. I highly recommend it to everyone.

Guys - forget the other brands. This one piece sound system was incredibly easy to set up. We downloaded the Sonos app to our Ipad our PC and both our smartphones - in about 10 minutes! Our 1400 sq ft house has been rocking ever since. NO wires, NO manuals, NO problems. I just hope the neighbors like my tunes...

I was debating getting a Play:3 or a Play:5. After comparing the two, in store, the Play:5 outshines the Play:3. Not saying the Play:3 is less quality, but for my need, the Play:5 has more bass and fills the room a lot better. I've paired this with another Play:5 and the sound is absolutely amazing.

I love this speaker! It creates wonderful sound for all of the different types of music I like to listen to and it is very easy to use. I had a little difficulty just at first to get it hooked up to my wireless, but the instructions available through the phone app helped walk me through it.

If you are looking for great wireless speakers and are willing to spend a bit more than lower-priced competitors, choose SONOS. The SONOS 5 speakers sound great, fill a large room, were easy to set up, and the SONOS controller app is designed very well. If you insist on strong bass (like me), add a SUB.

If you've already bought into the Sonos system then this speaker is a no brainer. Great sounds, deep bass, crisp highs and lows. Its everything you are looking for. Loudest speaker they sell other then the sound bar. Also very sturdy with solid quality of hardware. If you have the money id buy two, hands down.
