I love Sonos -- I have three play 1's, a play 3, and now a play 5. They all sound fabulous, and they look great. But the play 5 really takes the sound and appearance to a new level. I love the touch controls on the play 5, as well as the overall design (the grate, case, etc). I wish, in fact, that Sonos would update the appearance of the play 1 and play 3 to mimic the play 5's design, as it's much sleeker. Anyway, so I love the appearance. The sound is also fantastic and second to none. And the functionality is as great as I've come to expect from Sonos. Is it worth $500? Well ... that's subjective. This was a bit of an impulse purchase for me, and had I had one less bourbon, I might not have been willing to pay so much for the speaker. But now that I have it, I'm not having buyer's remorse. I subtracted one star because I do think that $500 is a bit too much, but only because I can't take away 1/2 a star.

Amazing sound over the previous Play5. i have both and like this one much better. they're not cheap, but worth it as you can connect all speakers together or have them play independently.

I added 2 play 5’s to my play bar and sub. The sound is amazing while listening to music. It is quite loud to use them as surrounds for tv viewing unless you really like to crank it up with action movies. They have decent base sound and also controls on the speaker to turn the volume up or down as well as pause/play. I’m very satisfied with my purchase and have considered even adding in a new Sonos 1 even though I’m reluctant to use Alexa.

I have a generation 1 and now the second generation. Both of these speakers are amazing. I compared with BOSE and found the sound of the SONOS play 5 to be better. Wireless funtions perfectly as well.

This is literally the BEST speaker I have ever purchased and heard in my life!! I have owned Bose and have entire Sonos surround systems (Playbar, sub and pair of Play:1's) and I LOVE this Sonos PLAY:5 better than all of those systems combined. It just seems so much crisper and clearer in a much smaller package. It's hard to believe all that great music, high's, low's and bass all come from that one little box. Great job Sonos!!

Sonos is amazing and this speaker does not disappoint. I wanted a larger Sonos speaker for my living room and the sound is great! The speaker was easy to add to my existing system.

Easy set up sounds great. Only wish that I could pick up more stations.

Upon the advise of the salesperson, we looked at the Sonos system and fell in love with the sound quality. It was the best choice for us. The system was easy to get set up.

When i got it home, i couldn't wait to show it off. Has such a great sound. Works great with my phone and tv. I was so worried about the bass but it is prefect. I love it and use to 24/7.

Because the sound is transmitted over WiFi instead of Bluetooth the quality is much better than your typical wireless speaker. Easy to set up and ready to use. Works with Spotify etc..

Let me start this review by saying that the Sonos Play 5 wireless speaker does not sound as rich as my old Kenwood giant sized stereo system. That said, this single speaker sounds very good. Plenty of volume, bass, treble etc. The best part of this is the space it saves you coupled with the amount of music availability. For example, I am an Amazon Prime member and found out about all the free music thereon. Not to mention the other streaming systems and your I tunes (or whatever) catalog. This player connects so fast, I wasn't sure I had it right, but it works everytime, instantly. Only downside (kind of) is that it doesn't have an off switch. As soon as you pause the player it is off. Instant on/off. I plan to buy another one to have a better stereo sound in my man cave. Can't go wrong with this unit as long as your not an audiophile.

This was a great purchase, easy set up and great sound . We can control music from phone/ iPad with app. If you love music this is one of the best wireless speaker systems out there

This is the best sounding sonos speaker. It is a play 5, which seems to have the most base of all three of the different speakers. This system is all Bluetooth, which is great to move around your house or outside for pool party's. This system is also great due to can play music on one speaker in another room and watch tv with a different set of surround sound sonos speaker. All controlled by your smartphone! Love it!

Just picked up a couple more SONOS speakers to add to my existing system. I got another play 1 and a 2nd gen play 5. I already had a couple play 1s, a couple play 3s and a sound bar & sub. I absolutely love all the speakers. It's awesome when we entertain & can have music In every room. The new play 5 looks gorgeous and sounds amazing. I read a review that compared SONOS products to Apple and I totally agree. The look, feel, performance and ease of set up & use right out of the box is astounding! In fact, even the boxes they are packaged in are nice. I'm addicted. Can't wait to add again! Hope they hurry up and produce an outdoor speaker!

Pair of Play 5 speakers fill a 24’ x 36’ room with all tones. Great connection, considering they are wireless. Paired with a play bass, it is the perfect system

Bought this speaker to add streaming music to my bedroom. It was a very simple install, user interface amazing, and did the job very well. I am impressed with the sound quality.

The Sonos suite of sound equipment delivers high quality performance in a small package that takes virtually minutes to activate. I will continue to add to my Sonos collection.

Just purchased my third Sonos Play 5 wireless speaker. Great packaging, easy to set up and program. Software worked great. It was working in no time ... about ten from start to finish. Grouped it with my other two Play 5 speakers and was listening to awesome sound from Spotify throughout my house. A little pricey, but couldn't ask for a better wireless speaker.

If you like the Sonos system, this new version of the Sonos 5 is definitely worth it. Not only is the sound quality slightly but distinctly better but it looks sleeker too.
