    Buyer Beware

I have 6 Sonos and I was really into them prior to owning the Playbase. I bought the Playbase direct from Sonos the day it was announced available for sale. Suddenly last week the wireless features failed for no reason. I can deal with an electronic failure once in a while (although frankly it's unusual as I almost never have electronics fail) but the Sonos support is awful. Everytime I call there is over a one hour wait time with no option to schedule a call. No weekend support and limited West coast hours. When they offered to make an exception and call me back - I thanked them and they never called so I still haven't gotten the time to call about this and I just don't have hours to waste trouble shooting this. Unless you are interested in spending hours of your life wasted on trouble shooting and decide diagnostics save your $700 bucks.

this device sounds good if it works for you. what bothers me is the lack of ports. I have an older TV that would not relay audio from HDMI in to Digital out. Nothing wrong with the playbase. But if this 750$ device( with taxes) does not come with atleast a few HDMI in and HDMI out, for that money, whats the point. if this device had this HDMI feature, I would not have returned it.

Love this product. Wish they didn't discontinue this model as I would have purchased another one.

Great bass from a small enclosure. Bit harsh up top in the treble. Soundstage is small. If your invested in Sonos already maybe a good fit for you. Check out his review https://youtu.be/YEG9m9NR_nc

I really thought at $700 this soundbar (playbase) has to better than my $200 one. From a feature stand point - definitely. From a sound standpoint - it falls way short. On tv mode - it’s not as full and loud as you would expect. It doesn’t have a hdmi input. Even when it is at 100% volume on tv it is only about 65% of volume the speaker can put out. Worst part is that sonos knows about it and they will blame it on your cable provider (Directv) or tv (Samsung). Don’t buy it - seriously - there are way better ones out there with complete systems and a sub at less than half the cost. Spend your money on that and buy some play ones with the leftover. You’ll thank me later.

    Overhyped

I own four other SONOS products and we love them. So, when we bought a new Sony TV I instantly started looking for surround sound options. The playbase was announced and I jumped at buying it. Sadly, when the audio was working it was barely better than the built in speakers on my television. The real problem was that the audio constantly kept dropping out. Worked through this with SONOS support and we tried every possible thing and it kept happening. They mentioned that there use to be an issue with Sony TVs, but they thought that had been fixed. In the end I returned it and can't give it a positive review. SONOS makes amazing products, but this one was a complete disappointment.
