Great gaming/small TV option - MUST HAVE OPTICAL
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a very purpose driven device and for what it's designed for it works beautifully. It's basically an nicely priced introduction into the Sonos ecosystem because you really need to use the Sonos app to do anything beyond have it provide a better sound response than the given TV or PC. The sizing is absolute ideal though. It easily fits under my 27" monitor and perfectly accompanies a 40" to 55" TV without overwhelming the TV space. Since you're using optical, there's no ARC (HDMI) connection so you have to program your regular remote with an IR to control it but honestly I just use the Sonos app. The use of the Sonos app is where it really shines because that's how you can stream music and incorporate it into a larger ecosystem. Overall the sound is super crisp and this soundbar SHINES when it comes to understanding what's being spoken on movies and such. Usually with these smaller systems there's no balancing so words get muffled into the surrounding sound making it harder to understand what's going on. Definitely not a problem with this soundbar as I was easily able to make out conversation despite scenes that included explosions and other major audio effects. It's a definite step up from your built-in sound from the TV but would absolutely benefit from the Sonos sub (and hopefully forthcoming mini sub) to add some bass to movies. For gaming I love the thing as trying to position standard soundbars is an exercise in futility and this one so perfectly slots in under the monitor.

Wrong Sound Bar
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although the Sonos sound bar was highly recommended for the 85” TV I purchased, after it was installed, it did not work. A call to the Spectrum Cable Company advised us Sonos does not work with Spectrum.

No power
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had this for about a month and was listening to it one night and it starting emitting a screech sound and shut off. Now it doesn’t get power even with a new cord. A lot less f money to spend on a speaker that breaks in a month. Not worth it

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Couldn't get it to connect to my Samsung TV.. What more is there to say.

Posted .Thank you for your review. Sonos Ray connects to your Samsung TV using the provided Optical cable. Depending on your model of Samsung TV, the optical output would be located on the back of the TV or on the connection box that is supplied by Samsung. Please consult this Sonos Ray user guide for set up: https://www.sonos.com/en-au/guides/ray . If you continue to have any issues please contact Sonos support at Sonos.com/support . We hope you are able to get your Ray connected and you enjoy the experience.

||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was excited and the SONOS Ray felt very short of my expectations. I was replacing a Samsung sound bar so did a before and after test. The 2 year old sound bar was bette and much cheaper. I returned the Ray and purchased the Beam. Much happy!

Great and Small Speaker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are looking for bells and whistles, look at a higher price range. This is a very basic sound bar that sounds extremely good. It has all the options needed for streaming over Wi-Fi or optical from TV. There is also an ethernet port on the back. Your connection options are very limited. There is no Bluetooth, so the initial setup is done over Wi-Fi. I would highly recommend checking for updates immediately, the process is much smoother after the first update. You get access to the Sonos Radio, along with streaming whatever you like over Wi-Fi. When connected to the TV the install instructs you to turn off the internal speakers on the TV, it does not look like there is a way to sync audio to the internal TV speaker timing. Using the digital audio input the sound is fantastic. You will only get the forward sound, but the speaker has no problem filling the room with your chosen audio. There are two woofers and two tweeters based on the specs. This speaker is fantastic for a small apartment or a game/family room. I can see people using this as a speaker only as it sounds so good. Sonos has hit another home run. The size of the speaker is about 22 inches at the front and 20 inches at the back. The top controls are centered. I figure this is good to know if you plan on sliding it into a opening under the TV. It is a little more that 2 3/4 inches tall and 2 1/2 inches tall at the back. Roughly 3 3/4 inches deep.

Posted .I'm sorry to hear that you've had such a frustrating experience with your Sonos Ray. Let's try to resolve the issues you're facing with a few troubleshooting steps. If these don't work, it may be worth considering contacting Sonos support for further assistance or a potential replacement.
Troubleshooting Steps for Sonos Ray Setup
Check Connections
Ensure that all cables are securely connected, including the power cable and the connection to your TV.
Make sure your TV is set to use the correct audio output (optical or HDMI ARC) that the Sonos Ray is connected to.
Use the Sonos App
Open the Sonos app on your smartphone or tablet.
Ensure the app is up-to-date by checking for updates in your app store.
Follow the in-app instructions for setting up a new device. This usually involves adding a new speaker to your system and following the prompts.
Network and Wi-Fi
Ensure that your Sonos Ray is within range of your Wi-Fi network and that the network is functioning properly.
Try rebooting your router and ensuring that it supports 2.4 GHz, which Sonos products often require.
Factory Reset
If you haven't tried this yet, performing a factory reset might help. To reset the Sonos Ray:
Unplug the power cord from the Sonos Ray.
Press and hold the Join button (∞) while plugging the power cord back in.
Continue holding the button until the light flashes orange and white.
Compatibility Check
Ensure that your TV is compatible with the Sonos Ray. Some older TV models might have compatibility issues.
If Troubleshooting Fails
If these steps don't resolve the issue, here are a few additional options:
Contact Sonos Support: Reach out to Sonos support for assistance. Provide them with detailed information about the steps you've taken so far.
I'm really sorry for the inconvenience you've faced. Your feedback is valuable, and I hope this helps you get your Sonos Ray working.
