Sonos Roam SL is a bad design
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worst Sonos experience ever (I own two other Sonos products). This is not a Best Buy issue. Bought the Sonos Roam SL from Best Buy. It would not connect to any of my devices. After 60 minutes of “hold” time a Sonos tech walked me through 45 minutes of effort to connect and I was told it was a defective device based on installed firmware and they were having numerous problems. She said I could return to Sonos and they would ship a new one. Done and done. Same issue with the new device directly from Sonos. 70 minute hold time and 60 minutes of effort resulted in that tech reporting the same firmware issue and it was his third call of the day. Said he would escalate to a higher level engineer and I would be contacted. Week and a half later not contact so I called, waited for 50 minutes and was told the higher level would only reach out if they had a solution. I offered to return the defective unit and pay the difference to buy their new Roam 2 which all the techs told me was not having the firmware issue. I was told he could not make that transaction and would let the higher level engineers know of the situation again. 2 weeks later and nothing. I expect a lot more from Sonos, their customer service and their products. The SL seems to be a problem for them and they know it but have done nothing to correct the issue. Don’t take the chance.

Sonos portable speaker

The sonos architecture is amazing, but man would I avoid buying this speaker. Just poor quality, poor sound, poor connection. Nothing anyone should want in a portable speaker. I must have received a dud when I look at these other ratings. I wouldn’t pay $20 for this speaker. Connection issues are horrendous, I would rather listen to music on a static VHF radio. Music quality sounds like it’s being filtered through a baby monitor. Like I said earlier, Sonos has great architecture and fantastic surround sound speakers, but this portable speaker is awful. No other way to put it.

died after 15 months
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Never mistreated, kept indoors, never left the house, looks like I bought it yesterday, and it died within 16 months. Sonos's response is to mail it back to them and they send a 30% coupon for a new one. No repair option. Even at 30% off this is an expensive speaker compared to others. A premium product like this shouldn't fail in such a short amount of time and if it does the manufacturer should stand behind it. When I was searching for a fix, I can say others have had this brick on them as well. I'm not replacing it. Terrible value.

Defective and cumbersome support process

I called support and thought I would send the unit back so they could review and see it is defective then send me a new one. This is not the case it takes multiple calls and emails. Too many hoops for a brand new little speaker.

Unable to set up- customer service was a nightmare

I was never able to set it up because it needed a "software upgrade" that even 1.5 hours waiting and then another hour of the customer service rep being unable to help. Very disappointed. I have another Sonos that I love. Not sure why this wouldn't work. Will be returning

I threw mine in a lake
