It is a perfect addition to the existing Sonos system. There are rooms and locations where I can't justify buying a fixed speaker. Having this be fully portable is great. Amazing sound quality as well. Blasting it, there's some distortion, but to be expected with the form factor.

I am glad that Sonos decided to offer an SL version of the Roam! I am glad some tech companies realize that it is better to omit a microphone for customers who will never use voice control or a so called assistant. I remember when the first smart phones were purposely offered without a camera as people know what could and would happen if cameras and microphones were everywhere. For those not familiar with the Roam it is quite flexible and can be used on it charging base or taken anywhere and run on its battery. It is waterproof and can be used in the shower or pool area. It can be charged via standard USB C. (5V 3 AMP). In my opinion sound is not has good as the Sonos One but better than many similarly sized Bluetooth speakers. When compared with my larger ultimate ears the bass is somewhat limited but the convenience and flexibility of the unit to anyone who has an existing sonos system it is a great purchase. It works with Spotify connect just like all of my sonos speakers.

This is an excellent speaker! Only downfall is that when it needs an update it just stops working. We thought it was broke but realized it just wouldn’t work until the update was done. Syncs well with the other speakers too

The app won't allow me to connect to my system only to basic Bluetooth. Look at the issues sonos has been having for a while with the app before you consider buying this brand. Used to be great product now just a overpriced piece of junk I can't use.

If you're struggling with the Sonos Roam SL and its connection to your system, here's what you can try:

      1. Ensure the App and Speaker Firmware Are Updated:
Check for any available updates for both the Sonos app and the speaker's firmware. Sometimes, connection issues can be resolved by ensuring both are up to date.
      2. Reset the Roam SL:
Soft Reset: Press and hold the power button until the speaker powers off, then turn it back on.
Factory Reset: If the soft reset doesn’t work, perform a factory reset by holding the power button for about 15 seconds until you see the light flash red. Note that this will erase all settings on the speaker.
      3. Reconnect to the Sonos System:
Try removing the speaker from your Sonos system in the app and re-adding it as a new device. Follow the setup process carefully.
      4. Check Your Network:
Ensure that your Wi-Fi network is stable and that the speaker is within range. Sometimes, connectivity issues can be related to network problems rather than the device itself.
      5. Use Basic Bluetooth Mode Temporarily:
While it's not ideal, if you need to use the speaker immediately, you can use it in basic Bluetooth mode until you can resolve the connection issue with the Sonos system.
      6. Contact Sonos Support:
If none of the above steps work, it may be time to reach out to Sonos support @support.sonos.com. They may be able to provide specific troubleshooting steps or offer a replacement if your device is still under warranty. Hopefully, one of these steps helps to improve your experience. john.milton

The speaker worked great until my husband was canoeing and it fell in the water and got swept away. We had it about two weeks before it drowned :-(

Sonos Roam SL is a bad design

Worst Sonos experience ever (I own two other Sonos products). This is not a Best Buy issue. Bought the Sonos Roam SL from Best Buy. It would not connect to any of my devices. After 60 minutes of “hold” time a Sonos tech walked me through 45 minutes of effort to connect and I was told it was a defective device based on installed firmware and they were having numerous problems. She said I could return to Sonos and they would ship a new one. Done and done. Same issue with the new device directly from Sonos. 70 minute hold time and 60 minutes of effort resulted in that tech reporting the same firmware issue and it was his third call of the day. Said he would escalate to a higher level engineer and I would be contacted. Week and a half later not contact so I called, waited for 50 minutes and was told the higher level would only reach out if they had a solution. I offered to return the defective unit and pay the difference to buy their new Roam 2 which all the techs told me was not having the firmware issue. I was told he could not make that transaction and would let the higher level engineers know of the situation again. 2 weeks later and nothing. I expect a lot more from Sonos, their customer service and their products. The SL seems to be a problem for them and they know it but have done nothing to correct the issue. Don’t take the chance.

    Sonos portable speaker

I took time out of my day to make a Best Buy account to write this review. The sonos architecture is amazing, but man would I avoid buying this speaker. Just poor quality, poor sound, poor connection. Nothing anyone should want in a portable speaker. I must have received a dud when I look at these other ratings. I wouldn’t pay $20 for this speaker. Connection issues are horrendous, I would rather listen to music on a static VHF radio. Music quality sounds like it’s being filtered through a baby monitor. Like I said earlier, Sonos has great architecture and fantastic surround sound speakers, but this portable speaker is awful. No other way to put it.
