Customers are saying

Customers admire the Roam Smart Portable Speaker's amazing sound quality, portability, and surprisingly big sound for its small size. Many appreciate its ease of setup and Bluetooth connectivity, along with its water resistance for use in various settings. However, some users point to inconsistent battery life and occasionally low volume as drawbacks. A few also mention challenges with charging and the power button.

I have loved my other (larger) sonos speaker to death! I wanted one that fits easily in a side pouch on a backpack and sounds great. This is not it. At low volume it loses all the high end treble AND high volume it loses all the bass. The sound link mini ii from bose I’ve had for 8 years and sounds much better across the volume range for $20 more.

I love the look and sound of this portable speaker. The battery life is short at best. Drains quickly making it less portable

First off, there is no charger I attempted several phone chargers and after all night charging it only got to 38% I eventually would charge it with my laptop, Secondly it will NOT last 10hrs playing music at and average volume if im lucky it might last 6hrs so their advertising is not truthful I contacted SONOS and im still waiting for a response. Im returning it back to the store and purchase JBL.

Hi there. Here are a few tips to help preserve Roam's battery life: make sure you are powering down when not in use (hold power button full 5 seconds), disable any voice assistants when not plugged in, and ensure that you are charging with a 7.5W or higher charger. If you have tried these methods and are still experiencing issues, please reach out to our support team and they can help: support.sonos.com. john.milton

This is a fantastic addition to your Sonos audio collection. Easy to set up, easy to use and easy to integrate to a group of speakers already playing music. You can take this one wherever you go and have good music play anywhere! Battery life is good for on the go sound too!

Love the sound quality. HATE not being able to connect to SirusXM. Tried all suggestions from Sonos help and online suggestions. My 2 Bose smart speakers and UE speaker all connect no issues. Not the Roam. Spent hours upon hours on this with no luck. Oh by the way, all other Alexa commands such as lights work fine..

Have a $69 speaker and it was just as good as this $169 speaker. Little smaller than most speakers but you’re paying for the size factor and marketing.

My favorite speaker for the most part. Easy to connect to, can use any music platform and good 10 hours on the battery. I use it primarily at the beach and it doesnt bring the sand home. Use to use The Move, but that was a lug to carry around.

NOT a good speaker for road warriors

The sound is 5 star quality and this would be a five star product if it worked half the time. The bluetooth functionality is mostly a lie. While it supports bluetooth, it has to connect to a wifi network first; not just any wifi network, YOUR wifi network. When it decides it needs to resync to wifi, you can’t use the bluetooth functionality until you reconnect it to YOUR wifi network, then switch it to bluetooth. So, basically, if you’re on the road a lot and can’t be home all the time to connect to your wifi network, the speaker is absolutely worthless. That’s why, even though I love the sound quality, I have to rate this a 1 star, because I can’t use it most of the time so there’s no sound to be heard. Manually switching it to Bluetooth makes no difference. When it decided it wants to reconnect, you HAVE to do it on your wifi network first.

Hi, and thank you for your review! We are very sorry you don't love your Roam. You are correct. The Roam does have to be synced to your wifi (Sonos system) first to do updates, after that you should be able to listen on bluetooth whenever you'd like. No "need" to be back on wifi. We would love to help make sure there's not problem with your Roam. If you go to sonos.com/support you can reach out whichever way you prefer. john.milton

Works great. Use all over the place. My one negative comment is that pairing with phone via bluetooth is not very intuitive and the documentation is not very helpful. Once you get that work it's great. WiFi setup was very easy though.
