Nothing but trouble
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased an open box Roam in “excellent” condition. Either these units are duds or the open box condition certification process needs work. The Roam was dead on arrival. Connection via Wifi and Bluetooth would constantly disconnect. Too many issues to justify the cost or need for this. And yes. on latest firmware.

Love SONOS, but not this one
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have all the SONOS speakers and this is my least favorite. For the price I had assumed the quality was going to be equivalent to the others and it is not. The time it stays charged is horrible too. I would take this back if I could.

Posted .Hi, and thank you for your review. We recently launched an update that gives you control over the power consumption. This is a major factor in the charging as it turns on without you realizing it. This is for faster time to music but has a negative impact on perceived battery life. You can find and control this under the room setting for Roam. We're very sorry for your experience with Roam so far.

Bluetooth Didint Work Out of Box
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this speaker as I was heading for a weekend camping trip. The directions for getting the speaker to pair via Bluetooth to your iPhone are simple but never worked. After looking at multiple online forums it looked like the firmware needs to be updated before using Bluetooth. I was able to get to a place with WiFi and went through the setup on the sonos s2 app however after setting up it still would never work. I’m sure this is a good speaker and the price point is especially reasonable for a sonos product. Maybe I just got a lemon. However if you’re picking this up and hoping to use Bluetooth out of the box just be prepared to possibly have to update the firmware first.

Good name small result
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this speaker because I own the product around the house. I was very dissatisfied with the sound coming out of this. I do not recommend this for outdoor entertainment. I decided to go with another product. However if you want to have this for personal use it’s ok to take to beach, park etc.

Inconsistent Bluetooth function
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I own an entire Sonos system all around the house and have been happy with their products until the Roam comes along. I bought it as a travel bluetooth speaker as I have a Sonos speaker all around the house already. It works well using wifi at home but very difficult to switch to bluetooth mode outside the home and have had to reset it numerous times with still problems. Trying to return the product even within the warranty period has been very difficult. Do not recommend this to anyone if you plan to use this outside your home.

No Good. Doesn't charge and dies quickly
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've purchased many other sonos speakers for my house and love them all. This speaker however will not charge past 60% and dies within an hour of use when not plugged into power. Returning and sticking with my JBL speaker when outdoors.

Absolute garbage
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Absolutely garbage. I wish I could still return it. You never know if you going to have it charged or not . It goes into sleep or standby mode and will completely drain the charge without you even knowing. Total waste of $190

Posted .Thank you very much for taking the time to review the Sonos Roam. To turn the Roam off completely hold the button on the back down for 5 seconds. That will turn the Roam completely off so that it doesn't drain battery in standby mode. Also, the Roam requires a minimum of 7.5w charging brick.

Disappointed
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Disappointed about this product and Sonos. Not compatible with the older Sonos. They're trying to get users with older systems to upgrade to the newer product. The sound quality is below the Sonos standard.

A leap forward
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m a Sonos fanatic of sorts, owning 2 complete theatre setups (each with a Sonos Beam, 2 Sonos Ones, and a Sonos Subwoofer), plus a pair of Ikea Symfonisk (powered by Sonos) bookshelf speakers. So, when I heard that Sonos was planning a truly portable speaker (the Roam), I was excited to get one. The Roam is small, comparable to my Xfinity TV remote in length, but roughly twice as thick, and with a rounded triangular shape. I’d say it weighs about a pound. I chose the black color version, and it looks great. Setup was easy using my existing Sonos iPhone app and was completed using the phone’s NFC “tap” feature… the app guided me to tap the phone against the Roam, and that completed the configuration. One of the biggest differentiators between the Roam and other portable speakers is the Roam’s dual Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capability. If there are other portable/battery-operated Wi-Fi speakers, I’m not aware of them. I’ve used my Roam in both modes. In the Wi-Fi mode the Roam becomes another speaker option among all my other Sonos speakers. This means I can add it to a group of (or all) other Sonos speakers. I used this last evening to extend music from inside my house to the outside patio. Today, I tested the Roam’s Bluetooth mode. The Bluetooth wireless range seems to be significantly greater than any other Bluetooth speaker I’ve owned. I left my phone on the first floor in a far corner of my house, and was able to walk around with the Roam to every other part of the house including the 2nd floor and basement without any signal loss whatsoever… pretty amazing! The sound quality is excellent. Like my other Sonos speakers the defining quality is that clarity. For me, sound clarity means a balance of bass and treble with neither overbearing the other… this is why I like Sonos speakers in general, and the Roam exhibits the same quality. The Roam is reasonably loud, but if you’re seeking a bass-thumping super loud speaker, this is not it. The battery life is claimed to be 10 hours. I’ve used the Roam more than 5 without encountering any issues, so I think it’s possible to realize the claimed 10 hours. One of the key features of the Roam is that it’s dust and water resistant. Though it’s raining in my area today, and it would be a great test for me to leave the Roam outside, I can’t bring myself to do so with this new device :). I’ve seen other online video reviews of the Roam that show it functioning after being left in shallow water. That’s good enough proof for me! I plan to take my Roam with me to the beach this summer. I plan to buy a 2nd Roam so that I can pair them for usage on my patio. That should work fine since my understanding is that 2 Roams can be paired when in Wi-Fi mode; I have Wi-Fi access on my patio. However, I’ve read that the Roam can’t be stereo paired using Bluetooth. Frankly, this surprises me because other portable Bluetooth speakers offer this capability. Overall, the Roam is a fantastic speaker that I strongly recommend. For a Sonos product, the price is reasonable, so for people considering trying the Sonos ecosystem, the Roam is a great speaker to test the water.

Not worth the price.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Quality is great but sound not so much. If this were $79 it would get 5 stars. I put this side by side with my JBL that is the identical size and they sound about the same. Sonos has great quality no doubt but their prices are too high for the sound quality.

Why can’t Sonos get the tech right?
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sounds is great. Once you try every iteration of how to get it work 3 hours later. I’m 34 years old and pretty good with tech... was going to send one to my mom and sister. Can’t do it. Tech fail.
