Customers are saying

Customers admire the Roam Smart Portable Speaker's amazing sound quality, portability, and surprisingly big sound for its small size. Many appreciate its ease of setup and Bluetooth connectivity, along with its water resistance for use in various settings. However, some users point to inconsistent battery life and occasionally low volume as drawbacks. A few also mention challenges with charging and the power button.

Provides great sound all around the house. Nice boost to the current networked speakers or just nice to have with you in one room listening on your own. Powers itself down when not in use.

This is by far the 'weakest' of the SONOS lineup and it shows when comparing it to a ONE/ PLAY:1. My intent was to use this as an outdoor speaker for a covered area. While it does the job I intended, I need to significantly increase its volume to hit the desired level (for comparison it took 75-80% to hit the level of what 45-50% would hit on a ONE). It lacks bass and 'punch' compared to other more affordable bluetooth speakers. This must be forgiven, however, as you're killing 2 birds with one stone. You get a 'roaming' SONOS speaker within your existing SONOS ecosystem with the added benefit of being able to take it with you on trips. I haven't tested the full longevity of the battery life, but from my readings, it does the job so long as you're not looking for it to go an entire weekend on a single charge. To me, this speaker is better pitted at the $100-$125 range (I got it on sale at $140). SONOS now has an SL version which is a little cheaper that I would quicker recommend provided you do not need the voice control functionality.

    Great portable Sonos product

Great little speaker that pairs well with the rest of the Sonos system. Compares to the Sonos one, not as great of sound but for the size and portability it’s nice. Definitely recommend getting the magnetic charging dock for this as it is pretty handy to keep it charged up. Battery life is good and can last almost a full day.

Great Sound but does not hold charge

This Bluetooth Mobile Speaker has great sound that does not tarnish the legacy of the SONOS Brand. However, it does not hold the charge. Note, the manufacturer does say one can get 10-hours of performance on a full charge. Sitting idle, for two days, the charge drops from 100% to 62% and gets worst from there. I am disappointed and returning this item.

A no brainer for sonos users

I have a sonos beam, One Gen 2 and a move already so buying this was sort of a no brainer because of how well sonos products work together. The roam in comparison to the move is much more portable and seems more durable but of course the sound is not nearly as full or loud, then again the roam is $170 versus $400. For the size of it it does sound really good, sonos did a really good job designing the roam, I wish there was a bundle option to get the wireless magnetic charger included with the roam though, it’s $50 by itself which seems way overpriced.

Excellent portable speaker. Great quality product. Beautiful sound comes out of this small wonder. Love the capability to be Bluetooth and WIFI. Integration with your existing Sonos is very easy. Love the fact that while watching TV with my 5-1 surround set up I can take the Roam in my back sunroom and continue listening to what is on my TV. Also a big plus the ability to pair my Bluetooth turntable and able to stream to my surround set up for some good old vinyl music. Please don't expect a to have a big base. It is physically impossible to produce it

Sound quality is excellent, as you would expect with a Sonos product. The speaker is small and easy to carry for many uses. The wifi set up is not straightforward and takes more time than anything I have added to wifi. Again, this is the same with every Sonos product I have purchased and installed.

Awesome Speaker / Needs Some App Options

Awesome Speaker! Great sound, and can even play as a surround sound speaker with a Sonos soundbar if you pair the music with both of them. The only downfall is the speaker turning on everytime you open the Sonos app. That needs to be optional, because it kills the speakers battery and it's usually dead when I go to use it.

Awesome speaker. Was looking for something that was waterproof and had Google Assistant built in and this is the perfect option. Mounted outside and it provides a lot of sound in such a small package. Almost purchased a larger Sonos, but I'm glad I went with the smaller more portable one. Battery last a long time, but the built in assistant makes using it so much easier than pulling out your phone each time like you do with most Bluetooth speakers.

Outstanding Performance From A Small Speaker

I have had mine for a few weeks now and love it. It has been used both at home using AirPlay 2 and at work using Bluetooth. The sound quality from this portable speaker is impressive. Setup is super easy especially if you already have a Sonos system (I own several Sonos products). Although it is waterproof and somewhat rugged in design, the finish can get marked-up if tumbled-around too much. Mine will be used mostly indoors so I am not concerned about this. I highly recommend this product based-upon my experience so far with it.

Great portable speaker. Love that I can use it at home with my other sonos speakers and also take it on the go. Best feature is the ability to use bluetooth on the Roam and cast it to my other sonos speakers at home. I don't believe this was possible with any other sonos speakers, unless you bought a separate bluetooth transmitter The only problem is some software issues with charging or it not connecting to the rest of the system. But these have mostly been resolved with software updates or a little bit of troubleshooting.

I’ve tested the duration of the battery and it only gets 8 hours tops! That’s with Bluetooth on and microphone off & volume at 60-75%. With Wi-Fi on & microphone on you get 5 hours. The sound is good for its small size. This is more of a personal space/ chill speaker, not a party speaker.
