Customers are saying

Customers admire the Roam Smart Portable Speaker's amazing sound quality, portability, and surprisingly big sound for its small size. Many appreciate its ease of setup and Bluetooth connectivity, along with its water resistance for use in various settings. However, some users point to inconsistent battery life and occasionally low volume as drawbacks. A few also mention challenges with charging and the power button.

The sound quality is fantastic for a speaker this size, and it’s very durable. Only downside is that it’s a little fussy to pair with my iPhone.

I was hesitant about this speaker due to reviews online. But i love Sonos products so i thought i can return it if i don’t like it. Well, I love it. The sound is clear and the volume loudness is just right.

I was skeptic at first when i bought this, but wow! What sound delivery from a small speaker. Although if you want to get better sound, i would buy two and activate the stereo mode. That and with the adaptive sound, a much better improvement.

The sound quality is great compared to other speakers in its price range, and on some of their rare sales these are the best you can get. The main selling point is the interconnectivity between their speakers, which actually works surprisingly well

Very good sound quality for the size of the speaker. Easy to link to my home theater system when I'm home to use as an additional speaker. Only two complaints would be that for the price they could afford to include the power adapter (especially because a standard 5V 1A or 1.5A is insufficient to charge the device and that I wish my home theater system would automatically include the Roam anytime it is on the network vs having to manually add it each time.

I like how portable the Sonos Roam is. It's really convenient to quickly pick up and take outside when I am doing yard work, grilling, etc and want to have the same music playing outside as I do inside. My biggest knocks are: 1) you have to keep this plugged in or the battery drains super quick. It tries to always be on and available like other sonos speakers so you need to keep it plugged in. Then in order to make it convenient you pretty much have to buy the $40 wireless charing pad so you can quickly pick up and take it with you. 2) Annoying that Audio Swap can't be done with an Amp. Really would be nice if I could just press a button the Roam and it'd automatically group into my group of speakers playing the same music.

Very Impressed bout the sound quality and battery life that the speaker provides. Best feature is the Bluetooth capability that allows me to connect my Bluetooth recorder player to the rest of my Sonos system for a fraction of the price.

First and foremost it’s a really great sounding speaker for it’s size, but that’s about it for me! Now the bad. It has horrible battery life, I was only getting 3 days out of it before it needed to be recharged. It lost a lot of battery in sleep mode for some reason. After first setting up device for true tuning, I had microphone off as well as voice assistants…and still had horrible battery life. Maybe after updates it will be fixed. Also, for the people that want to use Apple Airplay, another strange thing is you need to open up the Sonos app to wake up the Roam before you can actually use Airplay. If you are playing a song like normal then go to your Airplay devices you will not see the Roam because it will be in sleep mode. Which for me kinda defeats the purpose of having Airplay. Last but not least, Sonos should have made the play/pause & volume buttons the same white color (black color for the white roam) as the Sonos logo that’s on the speaker, because they are hard to see. I returned the Sonos Roam and purchased the Marshall Emberton…and I’m very happy with it.

I purchased this because I have several other Sonos products, which perform well. The Roam is a welcome addition to my outdoor adventures. The charge lasts for a long afternoon, the sound is good. I wish the volume would go up a bit more than it does, but it is perfect for quiet music at the beach. The only small complaint, when packed away the on switch seems easy to turn on, so when I go to use the speaker the batteries are drained. I recommend the speaker.

Sounds great, but it does not hold a charge very well. I fully charged it and turned it off thinking that would preserve the battery, but it was dead when I tried to use it less than a week later. It also will not turn on immediately if it's dead. In fact, it took well over an hour before it would turn on. That is by far the most frustrating part of this product. It should turn on and work within a minute or two if it's plugged in regardless of how low the battery is.
