Customers are saying

Customers admire the Roam Smart Portable Speaker's amazing sound quality, portability, and surprisingly big sound for its small size. Many appreciate its ease of setup and Bluetooth connectivity, along with its water resistance for use in various settings. However, some users point to inconsistent battery life and occasionally low volume as drawbacks. A few also mention challenges with charging and the power button.

Its a nice little speaker. I bought the charging station for it too, but you can still just use a reguale usb-c. Sonos app made it easy to set up

I was skeptic at first when i bought this, but wow! What sound delivery from a small speaker. Although if you want to get better sound, i would buy two and activate the stereo mode. That and with the adaptive sound, a much better improvement.

Sonos has developed another great product. We love the entire ecosystem and have a good majority of the products. This product feels a new niche for Sonos. We bought two of these to have as portable. One of our bathrooms is small and the speaker works really well for shower music! We’ve also had it outside and while the Movie produces better sound, this works much better for on the go. Battery life is decent, but I think it could be better. I’ll look for a software update to fix that. The look and the feel of the speaker is nothing less than the premium quality you would expect from Sonos. I don’t know that there’s a product out there in this category that beats the Roam

The sound quality is fantastic for a speaker this size, and it’s very durable. Only downside is that it’s a little fussy to pair with my iPhone.

It does it's job well! I keep reading people complain about the sound levels, or bass levels, or placement of the power button being poorly done. I disagree with it all. This things sounds excellent for it's size and does a great job doing what it was built to do. There is a reason almost every professional review out there ranks it the best in it's size category. I own the Sonos Move as well as have Sonos set up with full surround sound in my family room. Does it sound as good as those products? No, but why would it when it is a fraction of their size. If you want to get a really nice speaker that can fill outdoor space, get the Move. If you want a portable speaker that fills a hotel room up, sounds great on a porch or is perfect to slip into a backpack, get the Roam. You won't regret it!

Smaller size than I expected but still has good sound quality. There is a flaw that SONOS should resolve and that is that this speaker comes on automatically every time you use your app to turn on other SONOS speakers (not ROAM) in the house, which requires you to manually turn off the ROAM speaker if you don't want to listen to it. I have had to recharge it 4-5 times but have only used it as a "wireless" speaker for less than 30 minutes; maybe I forgot to manually turn it off or it does not hold a charge very well.

The sound quality is great compared to other speakers in its price range, and on some of their rare sales these are the best you can get. The main selling point is the interconnectivity between their speakers, which actually works surprisingly well

Small, and easy to carry around with great sound and ease of setup and use. USB-C charging is great too. Feels very durable. I love that fact that you can fit this in your pocket if you want. Looking forward to taking this to the beach!

Very Impressed bout the sound quality and battery life that the speaker provides. Best feature is the Bluetooth capability that allows me to connect my Bluetooth recorder player to the rest of my Sonos system for a fraction of the price.

Clear sounds I use when im streaming movies or listening to music. I bought 2 so I could pair them. Pairing them does not make them true surround sound, it just plays out of both but having one to my rt and left works great for me. They came be taken from room to room or outside (they are water/weather resistant) and used separately as well. They’re pricey so thats why 4 stars overall and 3 for value. Im sure they’re making huge margins cost to make vs asking price.

I am a collector of bluetooth speakers. I have all the good ones. Bose, JBL, UE, Apple... I have a Sonos system in my home theater. I was really looking forward to this speaker. I was looking for a good review and there really wasn't anything out there. So, I'm writing this review. When I went to Best Buy to listen to it, the demo system was broken. But because Sonos is a great brand, I bought it without listening to it. Really satisfying sound. The size and footprint is great. I would compare it to the Bose Mini Soundlink II. Not quite as much bass but good enough. It's a little more clear than the Bose though. The only gripe I have is that it has some issues with syncing from time to time. I'll be buying another one, so I can pair them in stereo.

Very good sound quality for the size of the speaker. Easy to link to my home theater system when I'm home to use as an additional speaker. Only two complaints would be that for the price they could afford to include the power adapter (especially because a standard 5V 1A or 1.5A is insufficient to charge the device and that I wish my home theater system would automatically include the Roam anytime it is on the network vs having to manually add it each time.

I like how portable the Sonos Roam is. It's really convenient to quickly pick up and take outside when I am doing yard work, grilling, etc and want to have the same music playing outside as I do inside. My biggest knocks are: 1) you have to keep this plugged in or the battery drains super quick. It tries to always be on and available like other sonos speakers so you need to keep it plugged in. Then in order to make it convenient you pretty much have to buy the $40 wireless charing pad so you can quickly pick up and take it with you. 2) Annoying that Audio Swap can't be done with an Amp. Really would be nice if I could just press a button the Roam and it'd automatically group into my group of speakers playing the same music.

Has been a great travel speaker. Can be a littl finicky when trying to connect in someone elses sonos zone….but all in all a good little speaker.
