Customers are saying
Customers admire the Roam Smart Portable Speaker's amazing sound quality, portability, and surprisingly big sound for its small size. Many appreciate its ease of setup and Bluetooth connectivity, along with its water resistance for use in various settings. However, some users point to inconsistent battery life and occasionally low volume as drawbacks. A few also mention challenges with charging and the power button.

Great Product....like all Sonos products
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This sounds....really good especially for the size. Blows my Bose products like this away. And the Bose products are good. A good compliment to our other Sonos products. Very portable and we took with us on vacation last week. I am thinking about buying another LOL

Not Worth it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a cool idea. The volume is always a little too quiet to use outdoors. It is great for a balcony. Sadly, it died after 13 months. Sonos only guarantees it for 12 months... so now I have eWaste going to the trash and a $50 charging base that is useless.

3 years later, it’s going in the trash
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Three years after purchasing, I regret buying this. It has had nothing but problems with the battery (which is really important for a portable speaker), it is a total pain to set up, about once a month it just stops working for a few days, Sonos customer service is absolutely horrible, it will occasionally forget the wifi and then when trying to set it back up the app cycles thinking that it’s already connected only to tell you it’s not connected and then tell you again you can’t connect because you are already connected. It’s an absolute joke of a product at an absolute joke of a price by an absolute joke of a company. I’m done fighting with it and buying an Amazon Echo at less than half the price. And just to add some clarification to my rating - the sound quality doesn’t matter when the device won’t work in the first place.

DO NOT BUY
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I own 15 Sonos speakers throughout the house and have been buying the soeakers since the early days. Most recently i have teplaced all Sonos speakers with the latest models. That said, I have never had an issue with any speaker until thos model, which was purched after itbwas released. The speaker was great until it was exactly 1 yr and 2 weeks old. At that point it would not charge, so i purchesd a new base thinking that might be the issue - it was not. The speaker stopped taking a charge and becuase it was nust past the warranty period i got nothing from Sonos. So many issues with this speaker model - just save yourself time and money and buy something else.

Sonos Quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Out of all the portable speakers I have owned, this one wins. Sleek and appealing design, nice compact size, and clear sound with good mid/bass. Also love that I can connect it with the rest of my Sonos speakers. I would highly recommend this speaker though!

Defective Product Software
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this thinking it would be a great option. I was wrong. This speaker could not be set up as our wifi router was "not compatible with the speaker". apparently Sonos knows this is an issue but does not tell anyone until AFTER you spend hours on your own trying to figure it out and then spend an hour on the phone with their support team. I was told that their engineering team knows that there are major cable providers (Spectrum) providing Dual Band routers that are not compatible with their products. A simple bluetooth speaker that requires a proprietary app to set up for use. I know own a $200 paperweight and have to return jt

Poor product quality… died after 14 months.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My Sonos Roam died 14 months after i purchased it. 2 months after the warranty expired. I was hoping it simply needed a reset so we called customer service. After running through a couple of diagnostics with the Tech Support team, i was told that my Roam was out of warranty, and that they would give me a 30% discount a new one. No repair option. The product needs to go in the grange. Very sad.

Flaw-Laden hunk of junk
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can’t get past how many good reviews there are for this product. I’ve had an absurd amount of issues with the roam. I love the sound but the technical issues I’ve encountered overcome the sound quality. The roam refuses to hold a charge. It doesn’t come with a high enough voltage wall charger so I purchased my own. Even after sitting on the charger for days it dies after only minutes of use. I have actually found it turns on by itself and perhaps that’s the reason why. It also shows no light while actually charging. It refuses to turn on immediately after charging which is also frustrating. The Bose Color sound I’ve had for years (bought the roam to replace it) has never had any of these issues. After giving jt 2 weeks I finally was so frustrated I wanted to return it. I thought there was perhaps a factory issue that it was a default produce. After sitting in the phone for 30 minutes working through the problems with Sonos they told me I had to bring it back to Best Buy for a refund. Best Buy would not accept it as it had been over the time period I was allowed to return it. Now I’m stuck with a worthless piece of $200 junk for which I have no use. If it had not been so expensive I would take great pleasure in smashing this thing to smithereens. I will be copying this review on any site that sells this piece of junk as I am extremely dissatisfied with both the product and the customer service I received from Sonos. If I had not bought the Arc sound bar as well I would be switching back to Bose for life.

Posted .Hi, and thank you ver much for taking the time to write this review. We're very sorry for the inconvenience. To turn Roam off completely hold the power button down for 5 seconds. This shut the speaker off completely and does not allow it to kick back on from sleep mode which is designed for faster time to music. That and ensure you're charging it with a 7.5w charger. Feel free to call us back after the failed attempt to take it back to Best Buy. We'd love to work something out!

Awful SW, lacks minimal functionality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The clumsy software implementation is well documented in other reviews an will not be repeated here. Less-well revealed is the functional deficiency in the Roam design. Do not expect to be able to use more than one Roam without having access to a wifi network. That is, one cannot listen to more than one speaker via bluetooth, eg when both speakers are simultaneously connected to an iPhone via Bluetooth, one would think there would be a way that Sonos would allowing pairing of the devices so that they could both be used (other manufacturers portable speakers allow this). Not so for SONOS Roam. Sonos is quick to warn customers that without wifi, only monoaural playback is possible (Stereo pairing doesn’t work). What is less clear is than multi-speaker monoaural playback isn’t possible. So if you buy two speakers and aren’t on wifi, you can count on only one working when on bluetooth alone. Even an inexpensive pair of bluetooth ear-pods will play on both sides (and in stereo for that matter). This Sonos product is severely deficient in functionality for a portable device, enough so that it should be avoided. No comment on other Sonos products other than I won’t go near them after my Roam experience.

Little speaker, big sound.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Such good sound from such a little speaker. And, we love that we can sync it with our main speaker to have continuous music in different levels of the house.

Small, well put together and a good sound
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not the best sounding but well made and a cheap entry to world of Sonos. Airplay and possibility of expansion was the main reason I bought it. I got an occasional hiccups with connectivity but nothing a restart didn’t fix.

The worst purchase I've ever made.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is absolutely the worst electronic device I've ever used. I was born in the 70s, so I've programmed VCRs... Stolen my neighbor's cable... I mean, I work in technology. This thing simply doesn't work. Can't charge it. Can't turn it on. Trying to connect to bluetooth was an effort so futile I decided instead to teach my teenage daughter to drive. THAT was easier than using this god-forsaken excuse for a speaker. What a freaking waste of money. Thinking about uploading a picture of it just sitting on my counter, plugged in but not charging. A video of me pressing the on button and it NOT turning. Makes me miss my Walkman from the 80s... because at least when I pressed play, I heard music.

Turned off Sonos forever
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Being that the roam is my first Sonos device I can honestly say based on the lack of quality in this device I will stay with Bose for my audio devices. This will randomly turn on and be dead when you need to use it. The connection is spotty at best and the battery never lasts more then 4 hours.

Roam has charging problems!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought the Roam and it worked great until the first charge ran out and it wouldn’t charge using the charge cord that came with it. Returned it and bought another Roam and same thing happened Returned it again and am trying a different brand.

Posted .We're our very sorry for the inconvenience. The issues would have been with the power brick you would have plugged it into. A minimum 7.5w charger is needed to charge Roam. We're very sorry for the inconvenience.
