A must buy for a sonos ecosystem
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Quality build with great sound. I will say the volume and bass didn't not initially wow me but after playing with the settings in the app, the sound definitely fills the room. I haven't played it in an outside environment yet but this speaker feels like premium quality. If you already have a sonos ecosystem this speaker is a must buy. There are so many features packed into this small amd very lightweight speaker. Not only can you integrate it into a sonos ecosystem effortlessly you can put it in bluetooth mode and play your Bluetooth source throughout your sonos ecosystem. It literally adds Bluetooth support to your sonos sound system. And the quick sound swap feature is pretty cool. I only have one speaker and I know you can pair two for stereo sound. Although it has incredible sound, do not purchase for home sound alone. If you do not have a sonos ecosystem this may be a cheaper and great way to start but for incredible home sound, get a soundbar with a pair of ones and a sub or two with a pair of fives. That is very costly but very worth it. I'm looking forward to taking the roam with me on the go. I haven't used the Move outside of a demo at the store. That had deeper bass amd sound than the roam but the roam is realistically tge better choice for mobility and its light enough to go on my rack in the shower. I love that it's water resistant better than the move.

Love it
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sonos has become my go-to for audio. This is the 4th Sonos item that I have - and it does not disappoint. While small, it packs a powerful punch. The range of highs and lows is far more than you would expect from a device of this size. It is also waterproof (see attached pic with it in a bowl of standing water). I've used it as a Bluetooth speaker, but also have my subscriptions streaming to it (Amazon Music, etc.). I can't say enough about Sonos and this particular device. It is awesome.

Amazing sound for its size but battery takes a hit
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First and foremost I have several Sonos products and I enjoy the Sonos ecosystem. Great products overall and tailored to the higher end market. This Sonos roam speaker is both airplay 2 and Bluetooth compatible. So while it’s meant for the Sonos ecosystem. Don’t hesitate to pick this little gem up. And I’ll tell you why. Set up was easy using the Sonos app. Simply turn on set to WiFi the app will locate the roam and you pair with the nfc on the back of your phone(I have iPhone). It will ask you to select trueplay tuning(I like it) and you have to also choose between google assistant or Amazon Alexa. I chose Alexa as I have prime and she is more useful to me. Tho the choice is yours. As far as sound goes, for the size of this relatively small speaker. The sound truly is amazing. Room filling. I’d like to say I don’t know how Sonos did it. But I do know. They are a higher end brand that their sound is on a different level and this speaker is absolutely no exception. Deep rich vocals, nice bass and easy on the ears highs. We were surprised at how much volume you get out of the roam. You can also run straight through Bluetooth if you like as I have connected this to my gaming PC. Bluetooth works well no issues there. Still great sound. Range is great as well. I haven’t taken this outside due to kinda being under the weather. But I plan on taking this on our family park trip this weekend. Sturdy build quality. Alexa works great. The built in mics pick up my voice better than some other Alexa devices. It’s well built for sure. Nice little heft to it. Design is simple but nice over all. I most likely will get another one to pair and mesh together if possible. For the price (cheaper than others) and well worth it for the sound quality. I’d say Sonos has a winner on there hands. Only issue I saw was that the battery doesn’t last as long as I hoped Or as long as I expected. But being that this is so small I can Understand it. That’s why I didn’t take a star off. Plus it has a type C connector so it charges fast. So in the end it balances out! If you want something small and with great sound at a very reasonable price point, i highly recommend this. Both for home and the outdoors.

Love it. Better than Bose SoundLink Mini
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picked this up after purchasing a Bose SoundLink Flex for a family member and then realizing I would like a portable speaker too. Picked this over another Bose SoundLink flex because of the Wi-Fi capabilities and that I was generally underwhelmed with the Bose sound quality. I don’t regret it and strongly believe this is a better speaker than the SoundLink Flex. The Wi-Fi capabilities make it a pleasure to use at home, I use it with AirPlay linked to my HomePods and it works great. Setup was extremely easy for me. The size is great, and it sounds better than the SoundLink Flex, the Flex generally is just way too much midrange but not much else, this sounds better in every category besides the fact that it doesn’t get as loud as the SoundLink. Wireless charging is a cool add on too. Overall super satisfied.

Quirky but sounds good.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just got this today to be able to listen to XM Radio in my office and on my deck. Ultimately the connection between the Sonos app and the Alexa app was pretty easy. Using it as an Alexa device has also been a little seemless...except...when I ask to play Sirius XM it says to go into my Alexa app and add the service. I have already done this. So, I went into my XM app and selected it as a device and then it played. Its a little wonky. Sound quality is good and and clear and the footprint of the device is small. I am a new Sonos user and I think the software has some ways to go. But it should continue to advance every few months. I do think it is over priced. If this was $99 then its a no-brainer. If its $129.99 then I would still pick it up. If you have a Best Buy coupon or rewards certificates then that is also a good way to go. I do not intend to move this outside my home so I did not test the durability. But it seems to be very dynamic. Thus, I took off a star for the software and the price. But its still recommended.

Sonos fan
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been waiting for this portable speaker to be released. I have Bose, JBL, HK in the portable speaker pool. To compare with this new add to the stable. I am very impressed by the size of the speaker since it is such a small package and such good sound. I will say that the sound quality is pretty good tends to mix some of the lows like a Bose and highs like my HK. The best description that fits is that this speaker has "presence". It definitely does not appear to be able to have the power/volume of some of the other speakers and the battery life seems a bit less than the other speakers. This speaker is great for a smaller room or office. But since I am familiar with the Sonos ecosystem I knew what I was getting in to with this purchase.

Outstanding Sound From Such a Small Speaker
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Defying the laws of physics, this speaker is better than every competitor in the same size range and even larger hands down. If you want a small portable speaker this is your device. I am an audio snob, and of course this not a full sized speaker and system, that said I completely enjoy the sound. Other similar speakers I have tried are like nails on a chalkboard, this one is not, it's reasonably balanced, musical and gets loud without any harhness like it's competitors. Simply put, buy this or the newer version, if exists.

Invasion of privacy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Couldn’t connect via Bluetooth at all. Sonos NEEDS your location to set up which means setting up another account to use another service and you know the deal. It should be as easy as turning it on and connecting, it is not.

Decent speaker, some concerns
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to replace my Bose Soundlink III which is almost 7 years old. This speaker was well reviewed in many places so I thought I’d give it a try. I have to say I was shocked that it doesn’t work out of the box and requires you to start giving Sonos your data before you can pair it. Once you’ve created an account with Sonos via app/email and connected to Wi-Fi you can then use it. The app seems feature rich and well designed and once connected you can then not only use the speaker with your phone, but even pair your new Bluetooth speaker with any Bluetooth device! What a concept! Pros: Sound is good can auto tune to its environment to improve quality using built in mic Can pair with other units for more sound Compact and light Physical play/pause and volume controls Cons Expensive App requirement to use a Bluetooth speaker was infuriating to me No hardware/Bluetooth enabled battery gauge (only works through the app) Overall sound quality seems about the same to me as my 7 year old Bose but this speaker is much more compact. I wish the app could be circumvented for those not concerned with it. This speaker is capable of advanced voice functions through Amazon Alex or Google and an always on Wi-Fi connection. I was not looking for any of these features and in fact disabled Wi-Fi and deleted the app as soon as I got the device pairable over Bluetooth; my ISP has data caps so I try to limit the number of devices always connected (however insignificant they may seem). Lastly my impression is skewed by my use case so if the Wi-Fi, smart assistant, and fully featured app appeal to you, or you already have the ecosystem I think you may be very happy with this device.

Great portable speaker but lacks charger
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great sound for its size! Very portable compared to the Sonos Move and would recommend Roam for trips to the park/traveling and keeping Move home for outdoor use. Roam is light with crisp clear sound and reasonable bass for its size. Move is heavy. Roam 40% volume is equal to about 10% volume of the Sonos One. I rexommend Roam, but it should have came with the charging block with it’s price point

Great little speaker
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have two of these. I love the fact that you can pair multiple speakers together to give you a louder surround sound. The sound quality is very nice and my only complaint is that it is not as loud as I would like it to be. I still recommend it to anyone looking for a good quality transportable, waterproof speaker that can pair with the rest of your Sonos ecosystem.

Good sound, just don't crank them past 80% volume
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have about a dozen Sonos devices throughout my house which I've acquired over the years. I've been looking for a portable bluetooth speaker to take with us on vacations. We tend to rent homes with a pool and want to bring a decent waterproof speaker that can be easily thrown into a backpack. The Roam sounds very good at low to medium-high volumes. It starts to fall apart quickly at anything above that and it does lack the clarity of the One speakers. That said, it has nice bass to it and it's perfectly acceptable for a portable speaker. The buttons are easy to use and the battery life is fine for its use case. We have two of these - one black and one white and I suspect the white one will be the travel device due to the white color reflecting the heat of the sun a bit better. When home, these are found all throughout the house. Showers, porch, bedrooms, garage, etc. Quite easy to pick up and listen on the go as roaming about the house, puttering, cleaning, etc. All in all, very nice devices. Nice enough that I picked up two of them. The JBL competition such as the Charge 5 may have a bit stronger sound but if you are already invested in the Sonos ecosystem these little speakers make quite a bit of sense.

Great speaker for a good price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great sound for such a small speaker. I was contemplating between the move and the roam and glad I got this. It’s so easy to move around and was nice to be able to take in the shower after doing yard work. The TruePlay tuning works great and is a noticeable difference when moving from room to room. I recently got the Sonos Arc, sub and two Sonos One speakers and this was a great addition to the family. Great product and I definitely recommend it!

Good speaker with useful features.
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my shower speaker as it’s waterproof. Works super well and can get quite loud. The app is very easy and useful for expanding upon that. Bass and treble are the two adjustments and loudness is an on off switch. I prefer my Bose revolve+ II, but when they’re not charged this is a great alternative.

Who Says Good Things Don't Come In Small Packages?
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sonos Roam sounds good for its small size. The speaker is travel friendly, lightweight and simple to use. I choose the white model over black due to my Sonos setup being white and other light colored devices that I own. The sound of the speaker is not overwhelming and it does not lack bass. The sound of the speaker is neutral and evenly distributed. I wish Sonos would have made this a bluetooth speaker first and a smart speaker second. What I'm saying is in order to even use the bluetooth portion of the speaker you must download the Sonos 2 application and connect through wifi like all other Sonos devices. After the device has been setup via internet the option to use the device as a bluetooth speaker is presented. For many people this won't be an issue but for those who hate apps or don't wish to use wifi to use their speaker this product is not for them. Another thing that I think is an inconvenience Sonos did not include a wall power adapter for the device. The speaker requires a wall adapter with a voltage of 5V2A or greater to charge the speaker. Using anything less will take a very long time to charge or won't charge the speaker at all. After learning this I opted to purchased the wireless charger sold by Sonos. The charger works fast however; any Qi charger with the voltage listed about would work fine. I suggest if purchasing the wireless charger to purchase it from Sonos directly as it includes the power adapter, if purchased from Best Buy the wall adapter is not included but the cost is the same. Finally there are many reviews regarding the battery life of the speaker. Sonos advertise the speaker as 10 hours listening time and days of standby time when in standby mode. Results will vary but there is no way in standby mode the speaker will last more than a few days. When in standby mode the speaker will periodically power itself on to check for a wireless network and updates. This is not a problem when at home but when traveling and when not in use I highly suggest to power the device completely off to preserve battery. Through mix usage in a 24 hour period I managed to get 18 hours of usage using, wifi, bluetooth and placing the device in standby for about an hour throughout the 24 hour period. Overall I am happy with the device and all that it does. If you live in a Sonos ecosystem and like the sound of Sonos you won't be disappointed.

Almost perfect but no regrets!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to buy the Sonos Move but the price tag was too high and too bulky. I just needed something portable with enough volume to use in a small office area or outside (i.e. beach, gardening, camping, golf). This little device does the trick and is the perfect size for the person on the go! I love you can charge it via USB C or certain Qi chargers. It's water proof so no fear when it rains or near a pool. I've heard reviews that some people use it in the shower. It is easy to set-up and works via Wi-Fi or bluetooth. When in bluetooth mode I wish you see how much battery life is left on your mobile device. Maybe I'm missing something. It only displays when you are on WiFi. Not a big deal because it seems to last a long time. I already have a Sonos eco system so it compliments my other speakers. I was able to pair it up with one of my newer Sonos One speakers (Alexa version). I only wish the price was bit lower. I think the sweet spot is $129 range; however, I was lucky to purchase it open box. I think Best Buy (and Sonos) may have promo deals in the near future. The reason I gave it 4 out 5 is because it did not include a plug. Overall, the setup was easy to do and it works seamlessly.

Not Worth The Money
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Small speakers like this are a dime a doozen, but what makes this one stand apart from the rest, is it's wifi capability to connect to just about any streaming service you happen to subscribe to and then allow you to command it with voice activation, to play what you want. from where you want. Using your Google assistant or Siri, you can basically talk to your Sonos Roam and treat like ( just about every other smart speaker in your home) with the added bonus of it using all of your streaming choices. There's even a SONOS station to chose from & the option for bluetooth connectivity, so you can play music straight from your phone. I can say, right off the bat, it is water resistent. I dunked this baby in a big bowl of water, while playing music at the time, and it continued to play on. The sound is decent, for its size and it also links to any other SONOS speaker you may have around the house to make your flat thump. Truth though, if you already have one of the larger, more powerful speakers, there's really no reason to get this one. Again, the sound quality isn't bad, but it's also not great. It will, however, do it's best to adapt to the environment to push out te best sound it can, for that space. And that's fine for small spaces, but nothing any other much more affordable, bluetooth speaker can't do. The color options are a greyish/black & a I will be dingy really quickly, white. The battery life is, for lack of pulling punches, all out trash and it can only be charged using approved chargers, so keep your puppies away from this thing. I wanted to see something different with speaker, but all I got was a mediocre smart speaker that costs way too much. I can't recommend this to anyone. There are just far too many, much better, options available.

Out of the box
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My first day owning this device. Out of the box, setup was a breeze like adding any other Sonos speaker. Sound quality and size are comparable to the Bose Soundlink Mini II hence the price. Where this speaker adds an edge is with integration into a Sonos system and the IP67 waterproof rating. Have not tested long enough yet to comment on automatic Trueplay capability. Overall, I'm pleased with the purchase.
