Customers are saying

Customers admire the Roam Smart Portable Speaker's amazing sound quality, portability, and surprisingly big sound for its small size. Many appreciate its ease of setup and Bluetooth connectivity, along with its water resistance for use in various settings. However, some users point to inconsistent battery life and occasionally low volume as drawbacks. A few also mention challenges with charging and the power button.

I freaking love this thing. I linked it up with a standard wireless charger and it works flawlessly. We use it on the go and even in the shower lol. Best thing of all, it syncs seamlessly with our other Sonos products.

I have many SONOS products in my home and my overall satisfaction with Sonos is very high. The Sonos Roam made that opinion fall considerably. The Roam took forever to charge with the supplied USB cable. You can buy as an accessory plug to connect the USB to a wall socket for an extra 20$ or a wireless charger for 50$. Really Sonos, your a high end experience company and no connection to wall power to charge in a reasonable amount of time? Also the roam only works with S2 app so if you have an existing SONOS S1 environment the Roam wont work. Not a big deal if you convert all your existing environment to S2 but if you have lots of SONOS devices that wont work on S1 it is a disaster. The coexistence of S1 and S2 was glitchy in my experience. The other issue I found was anytime I went form one home to another like a friends the Roam got confused. It keep searching for the wi-fi connection that it had a password for and it seemed to override the bluetooth connection. The product really need a pocket instruction manual. It was suppose to make different sounds during setup which it never did. There were lots of simple user issues that I had to call support on which I shouldn't of had to do if the on-line documentation had a simple cheat sheet. Overall the speaker sound was great but due to all of the other user experience stuff I decided to return the product as my frustration with operation grew.

Only easily portable Bluetooth speaker worth buying because it doubles as a piece in your home Sonos environment. Pair it with any wireless charger for easy grab and go.

Great Product. Understand how it automatically turns on/off when connected to power/wireless charge/etc. Once you know that it is great; otherwise you could show up to needing it and it's dead.

Wife bought this because of its size and loves our other Sonos speakers. It is small but better than other brands the same size. Bass suffers slightly but is not “tinty” sounding.

Great sound for such a small speaker. The true play works amazingly well. Seamless integration to my existing Sonos system. Overall I am very happy with this. Only wish it came with the wireless charger.

The true portable Sonos speaker. The move has more power but isn’t something that is easy to take with you. If you are looking for a Sonos speaker you want to be able to use on the go, this is it.

Repeatedly stopped charging and needed to be reset to work. Now seems bricked and Sonos's solution is to buy an overpriced charger from them since it's a known issue with seemingly every charger I already own. If it only works with one special charger, they need to include it with the purchase.

Great sound but when traveling; the connection can become unreliable. Switching between Wifi and Bluetooth is not easy and often cannot connect with out jumping through hoops. When part of the home it works seemlessly, although getting it jump between your home speakers and back to the Roam isn't always seemless. Best to do all connections through the SONOS app.

I ordered 2 of these to add to my living room system, but they only connect for music. They sounded great and would be perfect for a portable speaker. I definitely recommend.

I like the speaker, it's a good portable option for moving to areas where I don't have speakers plugged in (closet, pantry, etc) but it's not as loud as my other Sonos speakers and the battery dies too often for me. If the battery lasted longer I'd give it 4 stars. It's easy to use and pairs with the other speakers, but not worth the price imo.

I ordered two Sonos Roam's and only one works. The other will not hold a charge. Hopefully I can exchange it. The one that works is great. Has great sound. Having trouble pairing it with my husbands phone. Got it to work on my phone. This was a gift for my husband and he can't use either one.

Hi there, and thank you for the review. Here are a few tips to help preserve Roam's battery life: make sure you are powering down when not in use (hold power button full 5 seconds), disable any voice assistants when not plugged in, and ensure that you are charging with a 7.5W or higher charger. If you have tried these methods and are still experiencing issues, please reach out to our support team and they can help: support.sonos.com. - here you can contact us whichever way you prefer! john.milton
