Decent base with some movies. Not needed for sports watchers. But mixes nicely with the Sonos sound bar.

If you already have a pre-existing Sonos sound bar, adding the sub 4 will elevate your movie watching experience with refined bass. And if you wanna crank up the bass you can do that through the Sonos app and create a room shaking experience. If one sub four is not enough, you can have the flexibility to have two in that experience alone is worth paying for it. In my opinion if you’re really into watching big Blockbuster movies at home.

I’m extremely happy with my Sonos Sub 4 Wireless Subwoofer. The sound quality is outstanding—deep, rich bass that transforms movies and music and adds a whole new level of immersion. Setup was quick and easy via the Sonos app, and the sleek design fits perfectly into my living room décor. This subwoofer integrates flawlessly with the rest of my Sonos system and truly enhances the listening experience, whether I’m watching a movie or enjoying music. Even at high volumes, the bass remains powerful and clear without any distortion. Definitely a premium product that delivers on what it promises. Highly recommend to anyone looking to take their audio system up a notch!

Picked it up launch week (Nov 2025) for $799 in black. Setup & pairing
Added it to my existing Arc + two Era 300 surrounds in under 2 minutes. Trueplay re-ran automatically; the difference was night-and-day. The bass
Deep, tight, and actually musical. Hans Zimmer scores in Dune and Interstellar hit chest-slam levels without ever getting boomy. Hip-hop and EDM (Travis Scott, Fred again..) finally feel complete; the Arc alone always felt a little polite down low. With the Sub 4, you feel 20-30 Hz in your couch on loud scenes, yet dialogue stays perfectly clear. Big upgrades over Sub Gen 3 • Faster processor → zero lag even with heavy Atmos tracks • Deeper extension (advertised 20 Hz vs 25 Hz); I can actually measure and feel it • Dual force-canceling woofers are even better at killing vibration; placed it 18” from the wall and zero rattle • Matte finish looks way classier and hides fingerprints/dog nose prints better Only nitpick
Still $799. Worth it if you’re already invested in Sonos, but that’s real money. Verdict
If you have an Arc (or plan to) and you watch movies or spin Atmos music regularly, the Sub 4 is no longer “nice to have” — it’s basically mandatory for the full experience. My Mini Schnauzer still barks at explosions, but now the floor shakes when he does. 10/10 upgrade, zero regrets.

When I saw that I could not only add a second sub to my Sonos Arc Soundbar, but also have a Gen 4 SUB, AND get it for the same price as a Gen 3, I jumped at the chance! It evened out the bass response of my room, and made the bass even more effortless than it was to begin with. It was easy to add it to my Sonos Home Theater setup. Just like with the Gen 3 SUB, the Gen 4 is very solidly built, and I have never heard it struggle or bottom-out trying to reproduce the lowest bass notes, much less any port noise. Both the Gen 3 and 4 punch WAY above their weight class. And that is saying something coming from someone that has owned Miller & Kreisel and Klipsch subs!

Excellent sounding speaker in setup with arc ultra and era 300s. I bought stands for the era 300s from Amazon that keep them at the perfect height. Run software that sets the sound levels for all the speakers and you will not be disappointed. The sub adds that extra oomph to the sound, however depending on the situation may not be needed because soundbar does have good bass

Upgraded my Sub 3 to a Sub 4. I definitely feel that there is more bass, subtle, but a deeper bass. As usual, a sleek, modern design, it looks and feels premium. It’s also quite a bit lighter than the 3, which is nice! Sonos bass is deeper and more “punchy” than the previous Samsung surround I had and a definite upgrade. Extremely easy to set up the Sub 4. I may not have figured it out yet, but I do wish there was a “sound field” to set up where one would be for music and the other for movies. My movie bass is always deeper than the music bass and I find myself having to put the bass higher when switching back to movies.

The price is a bit steep. I bit the bullet and got the sound bar and sub on Black Friday Deal. AllI can say is WOW. By far the best sub i have ever heard. It doesnt vibrate the whole house. No, its classier than that. It fills the room with a much more elightening form of bass. I’m amazed.

The best addition to any home theater or home audio system- Sonos ecosystem remains superior and unparalleled to any other brand I’ve experimented with. This subwoofer will bring great audio range that you could only experience in a high end movie theater or car, with the power to shake my bed if I raised the subwoofer power a few notches, the range on this product is unparalleled.

I upgraded to this Sub 4 from a Mini and it has been super interesting comparing the two. Before I dive into that here’s the pros and cons for the Sub 4, generally: Pros: >Incredible room-filling cinematic bass >Relatively compact size, easy to stash behind a couch or next to a media stand >Effective laid flat or standing up >App works well and offers EQ settings Cons: >The price Who is this for? Anyone with an existing Sonos system that wants the best possible cinematic sound. Mine is paired with an Arc Ultra and two Era 100s for surround. I think that’s ideal for a medium-sized room. What’s the difference between this and the mini? The bass from the mini you hear. The bass from the Sub 4 you feel. It doesn’t sound “bass-y” at all. It feels the closest to being in a movie theatre. The bass, even turned up to the max, is just “there.” It surrounds you and adds impact all sorts of media. The mini you heard the bass. It’s still good, but it won’t make your chest vibrate. It sounded like a subwoofer. The Sub 4 is a different experience. Is it worth the money? Look, if you already ponied up for the other Sonos stuff, why not go all the way? It’s a premium, top-of-the-line sub and it’s priced accordingly. I would say yes, it’s worth the money especially if you get it on sale. That said, it depends what your goal is - if you’re just looking for a little extra punch, the Mini might be the way to go.

This is an incredible sub! I also happen to have the Nakamichi Shockwafe. This Sonos has a similar room filling base, but it’s connectivity is where it really shines. Nakamichi uses wireless technology to connect, but it often cuts out. You also get stray base rumble. The Sonos is just perfectly connected clear, clean sound. The base is everything you could want from a single dub. It can also lay on its side, and it’s small enough to tuck under our bed. So it’s completely out of sight. This is overkill for a bedroom, but movies in bed with the Sonos surround, are next level awesome, if you’re a stepper!!
