Best Noise Cancelling Headphones!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently received the Sony WI-1000X headset as a gift. LUCKY ME! The design is sleek and streamline. I found them easy to pair with both my various music sources, PC, phone, and tablet. The ability to choose when and if you wish to enable the Noise Cancelling function is a welcome feature. The sound is excellent. But, above all, they are comfortable. The ear buds stay firmly in my ears, even during an intense workout. But wait, here's what really has me sold. I've had headsets of similar design, in that the housing of the apparatus is in a band surrounds the neck; the major drawback being that the band falls off every time you attempt to lay prone on your back, say on a bench at the gym. The band is always falling off my neck and getting tangled in the wires when I attempt to stand up. Not so with these. They remain comfortably around my neck, without feeling confining, regardless of my activity. I'm sold!

Best Noise Cancelling Experience I Have Ever Had
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I owned various pairs of noise cancelling headphones with all sorts of different noise cancelling technology but these Sony WI 1000x are the best I have ever used. I work at a dinner theater that gets extremely loud so I decided to put them to the ultimate test and at just 80% volume I was able to cancel out all the noise! It was incredible and the sound quality is just phenomenal. They fit really well and Sony provides 6 other earbuds to try out if you don't like the ones that are already attached. At $300 these are premium headphones and I believe they are worth every penny. Combined with the Sony Headphones App they are just incredible with all the different features you can use. You are able to control for ambient sound in case you want to hear the world around you clearer so you're not completely tuned out to your surroundings. There is also a feature called adaptive ambient control that allows the app to know what type of activity you are doing so that the level of ambient noise you hear changes based on that activity. Along with that, you can also test for atmospheric pressure so that you have the best noise cancelling experience you can get whether on the ground or in the air on a plane. There is a toggle called Sound Quality Mode which you can use to switch between Bluetooth codecs which can either improve connection quality or sound quality. For example, my phone is running android Oreo so toggling on "Priority on Sound Quality" will use the LDAC codec which is Sony's bread and butter for the new age of great Bluetooth sound quality so that it sounds like it was meant to sound for a live performance. If you switch to "Priority on Stable Connection" you switch to SBC. Other features you can use with the headphones are Surround(VPT), Equalizer, and Sound Position Control which allows you to pinpoint from what direction you want to hear the sound. These three features can only be used while on "Priority on Stable Connection" so just keep that in mind. One really underrated and overlooked feature is the "vibration for incoming call" feature which I really enjoyed. The neckband will vibrate noticeably if you are receiving a phone call and I think that it a neat feature that isn't mind shattering but it is a nice addition. The headphones themselves are sleek and very comfortable. However there are some flaws. They are not water or sweat resistant which is a real bummer especially since I am a runner and a very active person. The Adaptive Sound Control feature would be great to use while running but it's not something that would sway me away from these headphones. The 10 hour battery life is just about right for a neckband style pair of headphones. You generally see over the ear at 20-40 hours, with neckband from 10-12 hours, and regular in the ear headphones between 5-8 hours. The headphones are portable but they are not something you can just stuff in your pocket and pull them out whenever you want. The physical buttons for playback control aren't tough to reach but they are a bit awkward to press since they are around your neck on the left side. Being right-handed, I would've preferred them on the right side but that's just me. Overall, I am really enjoying what Sony has made here and I love the noise cancelling. The noise cancelling itself justifies the price for me because it is so good and the sound quality is just too amazing to pass up.

inferior Noise canceling
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really enjoyed the sound but I need it to do noise canceling like in their demo video. I turned on the fan in the bathroom and it was like nc didn't even exist much less with the loud fan and lawn mower in the garage. It did hide the sound of a flushing toilet though.

Great Sound ! Super Adjustable
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'd consider myself a bit of an earbud geek. I stream music through my tablets which are an Ipad, Samsung S3 and Asus Zenpad 3S 10. I listen to alot of Hi Res and Hi Fi streaming. The day I purchased the Sony 1000x, I was torn, as I read so many reviews of the Sony's, Bose QC30, and the Sennheiser HD1 M2's. I chose the Sony's and listened to them for 10 days. All genres, rock, classical, pop, country, R&B, jazz, hip hop, etc. Today I purchased the Bose and the Sennheisers, as I needed to compare for myself. Even with all of the equalizer adjustments, I had issues with some distortion at high volumes, which is why I opted to purchase the other two for comparison. I also didn't care for the level of noise cancellation the device selected when you chose to "optomize device". I wanted the option to select it myself. After listening and using all of the features of the various earbuds, I gave the Sony's a 4 rating. There is a lot to like about the Sony's, but a couple of details kept me from rating them a 5. I'm particular when listening to music. I like hearing clear bass guitar, cymbals, and kick drum, while hearing a recording studio like voice. Sony's audio was good and got better with adjustments. It was not as clean and pure as the Sennheiser's, but better than the Bose. Their overall sound stage was also not as big as their competition, but it was very good. I loved that Sony allowed plenty of room for adjustments through the app. which was not available on the Bose. Pairing them was a breeze using NFC and I had zero interference once connected. My office has a lot of electronics. Cooling fans are running constantly. The noise cancellation was powerful enough to completely eliminate the ambient noise, but I could still hear peoples voices. the NC was not as powerful as the Bose, but very close. I love the neckband style for the amount of use a person can get from one charge. The Sony excels on battery life! For sitting around a pool in the heat and humidity, the design and construction performed well. I tested all of these using the same song base of Chris Cornell's HI FI "promise", Rush "Tom Sawyer", Sia "Never Give Up", Rage Against The Machine's "Killing In The Name", and finally Beth Hart's "Sister Heroine with Slash". For listening to music, they did great, just a little muddy at extreme high volumes. I can't really comment on the phone element, as I primarily purchased them for listening to music and movies. Another reason for purchasing these is that I don't enjoy bulky over the ear headphones, but expect exceptional performance. At the time of purchase, they were $50 less than the Bose and in my opinion they outperformed them overall. Bose always builds a quality product and the QC30 are no exception. I have a Sony TV and Sound Bar and these headphones perform like I expected. I'd rate them a 5 with better soundstage depth, an option to perform manual noise cancellation, and few ergonomic tweaks to the earbuds and neckband. Overall you would not be disappointed by purchasing them for long flights or places where ambient noise can be annoying. The sound straight out of the box will amaze you and if not, you will find plenty of available adjustments. I hope this review helps you.

Excellent Wireless Earbuds
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are by far the best earbuds I've ever had the pleasure to use and the sound rivals the over the ear headsets that I own which is an amazing feat of Sony! I really believe that these should be rated at 4.5 as they have excellent noise cancellation that is almost as good as my trucker headset from blueparrot which has the best noise cancellation technology of any headset in my opinion. These sony wireless earbuds come close to that but do not equal as I have been told that whoever I'm talking to on the phone can still here some backgfound noise but not enough to effect my rating but thought I should mention this anyway. There is only 2 things that I would consider a con and the first and biggest is that you can only connect to 1 Bluetooth device at a time which for me isn't really that big off a deal unless driving when I'd like to be able to use these with both my phone and my garmin trucker gps. The second is the price as these might be out of some people's budget but with that said they are right in line with the competitors prices. So if you are looking for wireless earbuds then I would recommend the Sony 1000X Wireless Noise Cancelling Behind the Neck for those looking for the best noise cancellation tech but if you are wanting these for working out or jogging then you might want to look at others as I don't think these will be very comfortable for those activities as they will bounce around quit a bit.

Excellent Sony Headphones
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These headphones are fantastic. My experience with noise-cancelling headphones is mainly with another set of Sony 'can' headphones. This set provides almost the same level of sound quality and noise-cancelling without any bulkiness and more flexibility. This unit comes with the headset, micro USB cable, carrying pouch (nice for travel, looks nice), dedicated headphone cable, plug adaptor for in-flight use, hybrid silicone rubber earbuds of various sizes, and 'triple-comfort' earbuds of various sizes. The unit does work when plugged directly into a computer even when out of power. A charge seems to last about 10 hours. I recommend downloading the Sony Headphones Connect app for Apple or Android when using this unit. The app can be used to analyze how you are using the unit and will adjust setting to provide the best quality while conserving battery. Also, as is common, this unit can be used to answer your phone when they are connected. Connection can be made either via Bluetooth or NFC. I was able to use voice control on my phone to control this headphone unit, too. One note: this unit is great for travel and use on the move, but not for working out. Even mild jogging caused the earbuds to fall out of my ear, and they dangled from the neck piece. The noise cancelling ability of this unit is impressive. I thought noise-cancelling would be difficult because the earbuds don't surround the ear like my can-style headphones, but I was wrong. I used these while mowing my yard, and the unit blocked almost all of the noise. The cool thing is that this unit has a 'Smart Listening' feature which detects the noise level around the unit and balances the noise-cancelling level. You can also use the app to select Ambient Mode which quiets the noise-cancelling so that you can hear announcements, etc, making this unit very convenient at the airport or train station. The quality is very nice. I'm not an audiophile but I can tell a big improvement in the drivers; everything sounds nice. Music is very rich, and call quality was very crisp. When I was playing music, the unit would vibrate to alert me of an incoming call. I only had 2 concerns with this unit. First, I could not find a earbud size that felt precisely comfortable in my ear. This should not be an issue for most people. I settled for a set of the comfort earbuds. Second, when the noise-cancelling is on but the surrounding environment is quiet, it made my head feel a little weird. I used the app to turn down the NC level a bit, and that seemed to help. Other than those two issues, I can't recommend this unit enough. They are high-end, but if you are thinking about buying a nice set of headphones then this is a great unit to purchase. They are high-quality, provide excellent features, pack away nicely, look good, and keep a charge for a decent amount of time.

Great Headphones for Travelers
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are easily the best headphones I have ever owned. The little details reproduced in music carryover wherever I am. They sound just as good in front of a window air conditioner as they do in a quiet room. These headphones are great for travel and come with a convenient travel pouch. Compared to the big and bulky over the ears headphones, these take up just a fraction of the space. The Sony Headphones Connect App for the iPhone makes it easy to adjust sound quality settings. You can adjust the noise cancelling tech from within the app. Smart listening automatically detects your activity and adjusts the noise cancelling levels automatically. It’s all super easy to use. The built in mic allows you to take phone calls. I had one person tell me I sounded a bit like I was in a tunnel (but then again the next person said I sounded great). They have held their charge well. I wish they charged faster as they took a few hours to charge, but on a full charge they easily will last 9 - 10 hours. Still, those are the only minor quibbles I have had so far and they are barely worth mentioning. All-in-all, these headphones have been great and I highly recommend them. They will be my go to travel headphones for years to come.

Great sound w/noise cancellation and latest codecs
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Even though "true wireless" headphones are in the spotlight, companies are still releasing traditional wireless headphones that are connected by a wire. While not as glamarous, they typically have longer battery life and provide a more stable connection, probably due to larger antennas. The Sony WI-1000X Wireless Noise Cancelling Stereo Headset is of that design, and brings what appears to be the latest and greatest to the table. First off, from a design-perspective the cushioned neck band is noticeably more comfortable than most. Two complete sets of earbud tips are included so you should be able to find the right fit. Raised buttons on the inner sides of the lower band are easy to find by touch As Bluetooth headphones, they connect to any Bluetooth device similar to most. Sony does have a mobile app "Sony Headphones Connect" which makes the pairing process slightly easier, but its main advantage is being able to adjust various sound settings. It also pairs with multiple devices so you can switch between devices without having to re-pair each time, with it reconnecting to the most recent device upon power on. On the iPhone, AAC is usually the codec used, which as usual sounds pretty good but latency with AAC is a little high which you notice watching videos. On supported devices, such as my Google Pixel XL with Android 8.0.0, all of the latest codecs are available including aptX, aptX HD, and LDAC. I can typically hear the audible difference between AAC and aptX, but this is my first experience with aptX HD and LDAC. In use, all of these codecs do make a difference over AAC (and especially SBC), and also help with keeping the audio in sync with video, due to the lower latency, essentially matching wired performance. LDAC seems to be the preferred codec. Besides the previously mentioned earbud tip assortment, a microUSB charging cable and carrying bag are included, but no charger. Also interestingly, there is a microUSB to 3.5mm cable which basically turns this into a wired noise canceling headset, which is the other way to avoid the Bluetooth latency issue on an iPhone. The most important aspect of this headset is the noise cancelling feature. By leveraging a microphone to monitor outside sounds, the noise cancelling uses the reverse waveforms to essentially remove the outside sounds. Noise cancelling works especially well in environments like an airplane especially in conjunction with a proper fit of earbud tips. On phone calls, call audio goes through both earbuds which is nice, as some sets only send phone audio to one. Overall, I really enjoy the sound signature of this headset and the noise cancelling works as expected. The battery life so far has been very impressive, as well as the connection stability.

Requires Desktop Computer to Charge
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You won’t find out until you open the box, but Sony only backs up this product if you charge it on a particular Mac or PC desktop computer USB... and even then it specifies only certain operating systems as the supported ones. Best Buy has a discussion group that contains many posts from past, completely surprised customers! I do not own a desktop, and I had purchased these mobile headphones for the very purpose of being able to charge them on-the-go anywhere I might find a wall plug or in a car USB.

Best Wireless Earbuds I’ve Used
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are without question the best Wireless earbuds ive ever used. The construction is solid and should withstand the daily rigors of everyday use. Pairing to my phone was a breeze, within seconds I was up and going. The earbuds come with a soft carry case, usb cable, airline connection cable, several different sizes of rubber replacement buds, and instruction guides. My plan was to use these under my helmet while riding my motorcycle. So I was hoping for good noise reduction and quality sound. These provide both, and do it extremely well. The fit under the helmet is very comfortable, and they stay in my ears during my rides. First, the noise reduction is incredible. I have a large big twin bike that is fairly loud. With noise reduction on, the motor is almost inaudible. The sound is so good that these are the first earbuds that I ride at highway speeds without the volume at full level. Not only is the motor quieted down, but the wind noise is virtually eliminated. This makes for a quality sound at a comfortable volume level. If you ride a bike and want earbuds, these are the ones to get. I can only imagine if on my bike at freeway speeds, noise is eliminated, just about every other outside ambient noise will be almost gone in just about every situation. Quality sound, quality construction, very good battery life (about 11 hours), incredible noise reduction make these the best I’ve ever used. I’d recommend these to anyone looking for quality wireless earbuds.

Very sophisticated, expensive and compact earphone
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sony WI-1000X behind the neck noise canceling stereo headset seems to cover just about the entire spectrum of wireless headphone to portable device applications from headphone/microphone to cell phone use up to to stereo headphone for high fidelity stereo sound for music and entertainment and includes excellent active noise canceling capability and mobility. I currently don't use a headphone/microphone with my cell phone to get hands free capability. But I do use headphones for high fidelity stereo entertainment use with movies and streaming video, previously I used a high end set of over the ear headphones which have excellent performance but don't support the same degree of ambient noise suppression as the WI-1000X. I think the over the ear headphones have slightly richer sound with the 40mm speakers in them compared to the WI-1000X but using the over the ear headphones while mobile, exercising for example doesn't work as well as the WI-1000X and they are a lot bulkier. Sony has produced free applications for Android and iOS and that control the advanced functions of the WI-1000X such as Active noise canceling, equalizer settings, and audio enhancement and playback modes are controlled via the applications. I didn't locate an applications for Windows 10 so I think there might be problems taking full advantage of the WI-1000X with a Windows desktop, laptop or tablet. Another nice feature of the Android Sony Headphone Connect application is a battery meter that reports remaining battery capacity. Sony suggests that the battery capacity is about 10 hours of operation my impression so far is that it might be a little longer with the set I have but I only have a couple charge cycles so far. I recommend the Sony WI-1000X to my friends with a caution that if all they want is Cell Phone ear phone and microphone there are less expensive choices.

Great sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First of the sound is by far the best quality I've heard I a pair of ear buds. Good bass, miss, and highs. The noise canceling works good for the eviornment they are subjected to. They are light weight and comfortable. My biggest problem is that they do not have ear adapters to hold them in place. They have a tendency to fall out of my ears. Yes I have tried the other inner ear prices it comes with. What they need is the external ear prices. Otherwise they are a great buy.

GOOD, But Not Worth The Price.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I Was Super Excited when I heard these Earbuds were going to be released, but after using them I am disappointed with Sony. Here are the Pros and Cons (in my opinion). Pros: - Sound quality is amazing with active noise canceling on and off! Furthermore, the dual drivers are amazing! I own a pair of Sony mdrxb50ap and I can hear the difference - The earbuds are comfortable, and I like how Sony included 2 types of ear tips (foam and silicon), and various sizes. - The earbuds have a very premium look and feel. - The headphone app is truly amazing. Cons: - The Volume and song control buttons do NOT work with a wired connection. This was very frustrating considered I paid $300 dollars. - The Battery life is only 10 hours (14 with wired connection) which was also frustrating considering the $300 price. In my opinion these headphones should have been at least 20 hours with Bluetooth and Active noise cancelling on. - The buttons on the inside of the neckband can be hard to make out as they are very small. - The active noise cancelling (ANC) feature does not work as good as the WH-1000xM2 or MDR-1000x. - The travel case is a fabric rather than hard case! Overall, I Feel like these earbuds are overpriced for what you get. I would have decided to keep these earbuds if either the price had been lower, or battery life been higher. If the Cons do not outweigh the Pros for you, then these earbuds are a great purchase. --- I would rate lower but I want to be as Fair as possible ---
