A Great Step Up from the XM6

I have had the Apple AirPod Max headphones since their original release. They have been great headphones for me, but I always hated the horrible case and weight as it made it challenging to travel with. I was drawn to the XM6 for travel purposes, but really hated the plastic build and the fact that my ears touched the inside of the ear cups while wearing them. When I saw these were released, I immediately purchased a pair and those concerns were addressed. The jump in build quality is huge! I find them to be more comfortable, the sound stage is wider and the overall sound seems a bit "cleaner." The case is a great design and something Apple should take note of. I have found them to be a great fit between the AirPods Max and the Sony XM6. Like pretty much all products, they are not perfect. My cons would be the reduced battery life, added weight from the XM6, lack of folding so they do take up more space when traveling, and while I prefer the look of the lighter color, I feel I may need to exchange them for the black to avoid them getting dirty from use based on the light color of the headphones and the case.

Got my Sony 1000X THE COLLEXION Noise Cancelling Headphones at Best Buy. Been using them for a bit now. Don't get the low ratings by some. I own Sony XM4, XM5, XM6 and now these. First, I think they fit great. Sound is fantastic (makes you feel like you sit in the middle of everything). No, I would not wear them to the gym (I would use Ear Buds). Yes, they are pricey compared to the other Sony Headphones (I figured I was worth it). I recommend the XM6 if you want to save the extra $250 or the XM5 to save $400. Both are good choices. Good quality Headphones (still have those two). My humble opinion, the Sony 1000X THE COLLEXION is the best so far. Like the premium build. I work from home, so these are great to listen to music and shut everything else off to concentrate. The only question you have to ask yourself, are you worth the extra money for a premium set of headphones. I would highly recommend these.

Comfort counts and for long term listening of several hours a day, comfort is indeed king. As a longtime member of the HeadFi community I freely admit to being a headphone enthusiast, albeit within personal reasons and a big reason for me to like this newest Sony 1000X COLLEXION set of 'phones is the superb comfort afforded by them. I own a variety of wired and wireless headphones purchased over the years including Sennheiser Momentum 3 and 4 models and Sony WH1000XM4 and WH1000XM6 versions as well as wired models such as my Focal Elegia, which are my favorite wired 'phones. But while I don't mind at all being hard-wired to quality there are plenty of times when I want my music to not only move me, but move with me. This new Sony 1000X COLLEXION wireless Blue Tooth headphones with ANC (Adaptive Noise Cancelling) are even better than their excellent WH1000XM6 and far, far ahead of my WH1000XM4 'phones. Setup and connection is fast and easy. I already have Sony's Sound Connect application on my iPhone 16 Pro Max which makes it relatively fast and easy to not only connect but to make changes to the listening modes and equalizer settings if you so desire. Within the app there is "Safe Listening" information based upon data from the WHO "World Health Organization". As I never listen to any music that is LOUD, I had no need to look into that information other than to report it is there for others to consider. There is also another feature of the app that allows you to backup and restore your settings and data. Within the app you can select Noise Cancelling, Ambient Sound or Off. The Ambient Sound setting is designed to let outside noises to be filtered in while you listen to your music. This feature utilizes the headphone's built-in microphones to pass environmental/background sounds such as traffic and conversations directly to your ears to help keep you more aware of your surroundings. There are also 5 listening modes: Standard. Music. Cinema. Game. Background Music. The Music mode was just fine as was the Standard and the Background Music mode was to me, annoying. I did not try the Game mode but the surprise for me came when I selected the Cinema mode. It was wonderful, especially so with tradtional Jazz/Pop Vocals such as Ella Fitzgerald, Sinatra, Nancy Wilson and Classical Music. Simply outstanding. I realize that many folks want to "hear the music as the artist intended" but I also know that if I enjoy a piece of music eq'd to my taste, then that is how I intend to hear it and I found the Cinema mode to be quite delightful without being tiresome. If you disable ANC and Ambient settings the battery is good for up to 32 hours of use. I have listened for periods of 3 to 4 hours straight and have no doubts I could probably easily make a flight to Australia without having a battery drain problem! Now for my favorite aspect of the new Sony 1000X COLLEXION: It pairs instantly (after the initial pairing process) with my Sony PS-LX3BT Blue Tooth automatic Turntable!! I am listening to a pristine copy of the Beatles album, "Something New - The Beatles" and it sounds FANTASTIC through these super headphones! Over the last few days I have spent time with my records via that 'table and these wonderfully comfortable 'phones. Normally I play the turntable through my Denon Home Amp (bought by myself at Best Buy!) and I truly do think I prefer listening "privately" via these headphones as not only is the sound excellent but so too are the memories of over 60 years ago listening to records. Dean Martin. Etta James. The Beach Boys. Sinatra. And so many more. It's as if Mr. Peabody and Sherman from the '60s cartoon "Peabody's Improbable History" had condensed their "WABAC" (pronounced "wayback") machine into a headphone that transported me to a very happy time in my life. As such I will say that the Sony 1000X COLLEXION headphones are beyond highly recommended! And when paired with the Sony PS-LX3BT turntable that's all you need to take your music back in time. No other amp or speakers are needed. Just power up the 'table, turn on your Sony 1000X COLLEXION headphones and hit the "Bluetooth" button on the turntable and listen to the soundtrack of your life!

The Sony 100X Collexion headphones are Sonys high end headphones for audiophiles. They present them as having great sound and comfort with premium materials. While the headphones are decent, I don't feel like the hit the mark for what they are asking for them. Pros - Comfortable - Good Battery Life - Large touch zone - Great microphone Cons - Materials feel and look cheap - Not loud enough - App isn't intuitive As for build quality, I have no real issues with it. I don't like the materials of the headset. They are mostly plastic, and the texturing they used on the plastic makes it feel rather cheap. The case they come in isn't the greatest either for such a premium headset, simple clamshell design with a latch that I feel like will break after enough use. Additionally there is no charging cable included with these. It does include a 3.5mm audio cord though, which is a nice addition. As for sound quality, I find myself preferring my ear buds. The headphones produce decent sound with a little bass. For a premium headset with advanced drivers like Sony is claiming, I expected more volume out of these. Additionally, at max volume the sound quality seems to fall off a bit. Using the AI upsampling for low quality streams made little difference from what I could tell. Now where these do excel is the microphone. I've had multiple people tell me that the sound quality on their end from the headset is much clearer than my phone or PC headset. Sony states that this headset has 12 microphones, so maybe that is the difference but they seem to do well there. As for comfort, these aren't bad but not great either. The ear muffs are made out of a mesh like material, but it isn't the most comfortable. They aren't necessarily uncomfrotable, but you can definintely dell you are wearing them. Same goes for the top headband cushion. Finally, the battery life. I have listened about 8 hours out of these from a full charge and I'm sitting at 50% battery life left. I use them primarily in the gym (not while I'm running though), I've only charged it the one time and its made it through a full week of use, at max volume with noise cancelling on.

      Hi Shaun,

We are sorry to hear that the 1000X THE COLLEXION headphones aren't quite meeting your expectations regarding volume, materials, and the app layout. We appreciate your detailed feedback, especially your callouts on the excellent microphone and battery life.

To help address the volume levels and customize the sound signature to your liking, we highly recommend adjusting the 10-band Equalizer settings within the app. Additionally, ensuring your source device has any maximum volume limits or volume normalization features disabled can significantly boost the output.

For step-by-step guides on using the app features, setting up your EQ, or maximizing your audio performance, please visit our official support page: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support.

These headphones have become my new favorite of all time so far. I have the WH-1000XM6 and will be comparing some main differences and why I think it's worth the extra cost to get these new ones. I wanted to also mention that the only thing it doesn't come with is the USB-C charging cable which I thought was weird but it does come with a 3.5mm audio cable. The build quality is my main reason for these being worth the extra money I absolutely love the feeling of the scuff resistant vegan faux leather the metal buttons and brushed metal accents. It feels so nice to the touch to change the volume and use all the controls compared to the XM6 which is slippery plastic and not as fingerprint resistant. The carrying case is so much better also they both are about the same size case but the carrying handle is a very nice touch and it's so thin still and I prefer the ease of putting the headphones away and not folding them up I just have to pick them up rotate the cups and put them on and it's way faster and easier than the XM6 that fold and I have to spend a minute trying to figure out which direction does it go again and this new design saves me a lot of time. I also really love that they put L and R inside the ear cups instead of on the inside of the headband so I can even easier identify which side is correct. These new headphones are thinner when placed on my head the ear cups do not stick out as much as the XM6 and has a much better profile for my head. The fit is more relaxed on these new ones and not as tight against my head as the XM6. I could shake my head and these will probably fall off if I tried hard enough while the XM6 would most likely not fall off in the same circumstances. The headband is wider on these and is way more comfortable for longer periods of use but they do get my ears hot and sweaty after about 30 mins to an hour which was the same for me when using the XM6. Sound is similar on both to me I don't notice much of a difference but if I had to pick the 1000X are slightly better due to the upgraded V3 chip that powers the DSEE Ultimate vs the XM6 that has DSEE Extreme. The new version has a dedicated button that can switch between different Spatial Audio upmixing and adds music gaming and cinema compared to XM6 that is limited to Cinema from the app only. I tried to like the spatial upmixing but to me I wasn't impressed as much as I preferred just listening on standard mode but also not sure how it affected my Apple Music Spatial Audio when listening to my music it would override that and to me did not sound as good as native Dolby Atmos Apple Audio. Bluetooth 6 is slightly better than the XM6 that is 5.3. Battery life is good for me but the XM6 is supposed to last 30 hours compared to these that offer 24 hours of life. The one negative thing that happened to me is my right ear cup started to make a static sound after a few minutes of listening and will not go away even after hard resetting and repairing to my device. The only way to get it to stop is to turn off all noise cancellation features which defeats the purpose of having these as the noise cancelling is excellent. I was able to contact Sony for a replacement and hopefully it doesn't happen again but has happened to other people with older headphones so not sure what the issue is with that and customer service has been very helpful so hopefully that doesn't happen to you and you get a good extra warranty on these just in case.

Thank you for the amazing, detailed review!

We are so glad to hear you are loving the premium upgrade to the WH-1000XX, especially that scuff-resistant faux leather, the brushed metal controls, and the faster swivel design on the new case. That is exactly the luxury experience we wanted to bring for the 10th anniversary! We are truly sorry to hear about that random static issue popping up in the right ear cup though, especially when you're trying to enjoy that new V3 chip processing. Since you mentioned you already reached out to our support team for a replacement, we hope the new pair gets to you quickly so you can get back to standard mode fully glitch-free.

      Thank you for choosing Sony.

Somehow, someway, Sony out did themselves this year with the premium version of the WH-1000XM6. They updated multiple parts that equals one of the most comfortable pairs of headphones by far. Right when I put them on, the feeling was instantaneous. Both have similar tech inside like noise cancelling that is very effective, I love them both. But the difference is huge actually. The actual cans completely fit over my ears, enveloping them. The XM6’s never truly fit over my ears, while never really hurting the experience, this was always a slight annoyance. Another change this time is the metal sections on the sides that really help with the stability and premium overall feel. The initial set up is through the Sony Sound Connect & works well with the overall experience. Set up was quick and I ran into no issues on set up. I like the options in the app for things like Ambient Sound Control that offers noise, ambient or off. Also, listening mode is interesting too. There are options like standard, Music, Cinema, Game & Background music. I liked the Cinema, it sounded like it did add some kind of audio flare that wasn’t there before. I plan on checking them all out in different situations and see how good they really are. The other setting I see on the app is the Adaptive Sound Control that changes depending on what you’re doing and where you are. The XM6 headphones have similar, if not identical effects as well. I took a picture I included with the headphones on my PS5 with a similar color. I think they both look great together, but unless I have an adapter, I can’t use them on the PS5 as they use proprietary software for the console. There are 2 colors only of white & black. I had my doubts initially with the white leather they chose, but looks very nice up close. Lastly, the case it comes in is also an upgrade over the XM6 case. This has partly to do with the hinges that are changed. I brought them up earlier, but since there are less moving parts on the head band sections, this time just folding the phones inward is all you need to fit them in perfectly in the case. Too easy and I like it that way, it really helps keep them clean. Let's get to the negative. The price! Yes, these are extremely expensive at MSRP, we can all agree on. The question is, are they worth it?? I keep going back and forth on this all night. The comfortability is off the charts here. Even with the inclusion of the metal, I can’t tell with the weight distribution, they are just very comfortable to wear. My first night, I think I wore them for over 2 hours testing them and never once did they feel cumbersome on or around my ears. If you are comfortable with how the XM5 or 6 feel and are happy with them, I would advise you to stay there. Maybe wait for a sale? However as far as the best premium set of headphones, these are definitely them in my opinion. They are my new daily driver which is impressive considering that white is my least favorite color to wear. So if still interested, definitly pick these up, you'll be glad you did. Good: Extremely comfortable to wear and use Bad: Extremely expensive at $650

The Sony 1000X Collexion in Platinum are Sony’s flagship premium headphones, released to celebrate their 10th anniversary of 1000X series headphones, are premium in every sense. The luxury focused headphones showcase thoughtful design and premium materials with renowned engineering to deliver an enhanced experience. In the box you receive the Collexion Headphones, the carrying case, and a short headphone cable. The matching case is nice and compact, form-fitted to the headphones with a magnetic enclosure, but for the price point, Sony should include a unique charger or at least a woven charging cable to match the premium vibe. Fortunately, the Collexion headphones both sounds incredible and looks the part, thanks to a V3 processor paired with bespoke drivers and premium materials such as polished stainless steel and vegan leather. The platinum finish looks fantastic, fully wrapped in vegan leather with stainless steel banding and hinge design, a welcome change for previous generations. The all metal frame and hinge not only will hold up to years of use, it elevates the look of the headphones and provides a solid feel when adjusting the band or folding the earcups. The Collexion are extremely comfortable thanks to the deep and plush, oversized earcups and generous soft padding on the headband. I found they sit snug without any pressure points, making it easy to wear for extended amount of time though they did make my ears a bit toasty after a few hours. With up to 24 hours of battery life, the Collexion is up to the challenge and the documentation indicates you can even gain 1.5 hours of usage with just 5 minutes of charging. Though not included, the Collexion features a USB C port for charging and 3.5mm for wired listening. The V3 processor does a great job at up mixing, with the 360 Music setting somehow widening the sound stage and experience of the composition. For a purist, you can disable DSEE and manually adjust levels as well. Overall, the audio quality is close to exceptional, providing incredible depth and clarity that is exceptional considering these are not large studio cans. The ANC is also impressive, performing exceptionally well at filtering your environment thanks to the QN3 processor and 12 microphone array. The Collexion can even adapt to your movement and adapt the ANC settings on the fly, learning your preferences. You can also specify ANC modes based on whether you are active, walking or seated to tailor the experience to your liking. The on device controls include dedicated buttons for ANC mode, audio mixing, and power. Volume and music controls are handled via gesture on the side of the earcup and worked well enough, though it took some practice. The Sony Collexion are by far the most comfortable, quiet, and luxurious headphones I have owned, setting the bar for what a quality product should be. These are a perfect gift for those who appreciate design and are my go to headphones for music listening, cinema, or even peace and quiet thanks to Sony audio engineering combined with beautiful craftsmanship, all while achieving incredible comfort.

Nothing about these headphones will really surprise you, but unless you have some idiosyncratic desire like I did, there are much better options for much less. I have used the XM4 for years, and I tried out the XM6 before deciding on the Collexion. The good: The headphones sounds great. (Not better than the XM6 though) The headphones are extremely comfortable. The noise cancelling is good. (Not as good as the XM6) The building quality is excellent. The ear cups are spacious and comfortable. Controls work well. There is a ton of audio customization. The bad: Battery life is low compared to similar Sony models. The headphones do not fold. They cost a lot. The headband is comfortable, but I think it could use a bit firmer foam for structure. The headband foam is my only real criticism because everything else, like battery life, folding, and price are things you can evaluate for yourself without ever seeing the headphones in person. Finally, here is why the headphones were right for me: I am used to Sony stuff due to having the XM4s and I like the controls, so I was always going to get another pair of Sony, it was just which pair. The 1000x has a lower profile than most headphones (and much much lower than the XM6), which is extremely important to me because I sometimes sleep in them to block out noise. Sony removed some controls for this one, which really feels like they took out some bloatware due to a unique problem I had with the XM4s. Whenever I would wear the XM4s outside, the wind would activate the talk-to-call feature and it would call someone. I tried everything to turn the feature off, and it was simply impossible to accomplish. It sucks to be out for a walk and realize that you headphones have called randomly someone several steps above you in your organization or someone you have not talked to in 15 years. The 1000X does not do that and have a feature to completely turn it off. If any of that stuff is really important to you, I would say look at these. If you are looking at these for any other reason, I think you would be happier with the XM6. One last note, I do not think of myself as an audiophile (I am actually partially deaf), so maybe the sound quality is reason to get these, but I am just not qualified to comment on that, other than saying they sound good.

The speaker is excellent and comfortable to wear. The sound is very good. Some issues I have is that at the price, they should provide a booklet to explain how to get the most out of the headphone. Also I should not require to use an app. The case is useful but it would be better if you could charge the headphone through the case. That way, the headphones could be protected while charging. The headphone is a little heavier than I'm used to but that hasn't been a problem I wear it on mass transit or walking down the streets. They do an excellent job cancelling out noise. I would not use it while working out or running. The biggest issue is the price and I think there should be better for the jump from the other Sony noise cancelling headphones. I would recommend it but you should check out competitors products first.

I have been wearing Sony headphones since WH-1000XM3. I had to take a break with WH-1000XM6 because I didn't care for the way they fit...then comes the 1000X. I love the feel when I wear these headphones! The sound is incredible. Using the Sound app, you have micro control over adjustments to the sound. Once I achieved the sound stage that I liked, I spent some time testing all the music genres that I like and everything sounded...phenomenal! I don't know if I would recommend the 1000X over the WH-1000XM6, because I passed on that release, but the 1000X is 100% worth testing to see if they can elevate your music experience.

These headphones are very good. Coming off of having the XM4s, these are more comfortable and have superior noise cancelling. They are amazing for flying and cancel our engine and white noise very well. They are nice to wear for long periods of time and don't feel too heavy. The cost is high and the value for money is not as good as the XM6s, but the materials feel premium and durable.

We're so glad to hear that you're loving the comfort and superior noise cancelling on 1000X THE COLLEXION, it is definitely built to make those long flights a lot more peaceful by completely blocking out the engine roar. We used premium, durable materials to really give them that high-end feel, so we are happy to know they're feeling worth it to you even with the premium price tag.

A Style Upgrade To The King Of ANC Headphones!

I have loved the XM1000 series of headphones since the XM2s, and Sony's latest iteration, the XM6 is the absolute king of ANC headphones. They have the best ANC, comfort, usability, and most importantly - sound. The ONLY place where some other headphones might take the lead (and even here, it is up for debate), would be in the style/build of the headphones. I personally love, the understated design in a beautiful blue, that folds up nicely into a perfect case. Others though might like a little more metal and perhaps some (fake) leather. Well, for the 10th anniversary of Sony's XM line, those people have gotten their wish! The WH-1000XX - The Collexion. Let's start out with just saying that for all intents and purposes, this is an XM6 inside of a sexier package. But that package also costs $200 more. Do I think that package is worth an extra $200? For me, the answer would be no, because I already consider the XM6 to be the pinnacle, and for me this is just adding weight and taking away some ANC/Battery Life benefits for style 'improvements' that I don't think the line needs. That being said, I do feel that Sony gave a good amount of VALUE with that extra $200, in that they did make some very solid style upgrades that justify that bump in price. If the thing that kept you from buying the XM1000 series was the style, then run, don't walk to pick yourself up a pair of these, you will not be disappointed. If you have a pair of XM6s (or even XM4s), and are happy, then the 1000X will not bring anything to the table for you. Here are just some quick points that I've taken away from a week with these headphones. Comfort: Some nice extra padding. Normally, I'd be ecstatic about this due to the lack of cushioning hair on my head and the unfortunate point that it comes to, but in this case, it is offset by additional weight and a lower clamping force so that I can't count on the ear cups to mostly support the headphone on my head and spare the top of my noggin. The XM6s are the headphones I can listen to for the longest time out of ANY headphone I've tried with the exception of some VERY expensive audiophile cans, that put a premium on lightweight materials and innovative support structures. For me, the 1000X is a step back. Style: Like I said before, my beautiful blue XM6s are great just as they are, but if you are determined to have pleather and metal set to a new Sony style, then you will probably love the 1000X. Personally, I feel like this makes them a bit TOO stylish for my usual use which is wearing these while traveling or when I'm working on my computer in noisy locations. These feel like they should reside on a nice stand next to a stylish chair in someone's den. If that is what you want these for, then please, go ahead and get these. For me, I like the fact that I'm not worried about dinging the headphones or getting the leather scratched or dirty. Portability: I'm following up style with this because it is directly because of the style points, that I feel that the 1000X has taken a step back. With that nice new, and very solid, headband, you lose the foldability of the XM6 which Sony brought back after the complaints of the XM5s NOT being able to fold up. And while I'm impressed that the case for these 1000Xs is a sleek as it is (and has the hand hold cut out), it doesn't pack into my flight bag as nicely as my XM6s. ANC: While many people may not notice much of a difference between the ANC capabilities of the XM6s vs. the 1000X, I can assure you, I most certainly do. While I haven't had a chance to fly with them in this last week, I did take them to one of my usually working spots and I noticed a bit more noise seeping in than I'm used to. I don't think it is the internal hardware or the software because that should be the same, so I have to assume that it is the lack of clamping pressure and the change in the padding. Perhaps the metal of the band or the change in the ear cups also transmits more noise or subsonic vibration to my head, but I don't like it. Sound: Here the 1000X sounds just as good as the XM6s. I find the tuning to be a bit different with the peaks pushed a bit further from the middle, but completely within the range of most modern headphones. The software that Sony boasts about with this series such as the 360UpMix is completely out of my purview. As a reformed audiophile, I'm already 'out there' by using ANC headphones in the first place, but using software to 'upscale' the sound? Nope, that is a bridge too far for me. With those software gimmicks, I feel you put too much computer between yourself and the music. You shouldn't ever need anything more than a solid set of EQ sliders, but that's just me. Conclusion: If you are looking for the best ANC headphones currently on the market (and yes, I'll die on that hill), and you want a beautifully styled package for all that sonic goodness to be wrapped in, then the Sony 1000X will be perfect for you. For me though, I'd save a few bucks and just get the XM6s.

The Sony 1000X THE COLLEXION Wireless Noise Canceling Headphones are a great set of headphones. I am truly impressed with everything about them. I've thoroughly tested them out and following are my observations: - These headphones are called Luxury headphones and I can see why. They have a very nice, sleek design with high quality materials. I got a black pair and they have nice metal accents. The ear pieces and headband are a very soft leather and the ear pieces slide smoothly up and down on the headband. - I've worn them nearly an entire workday and find them very comfortable to wear for long periods of time. - I love the button controls on the earpieces themselves. The left ear has a power button, a noise cancelling & Ambient Sound button and a Listening Mode button. Each button is well spread out and a little different shape, so its easy to know which you are using. With the right-side earpiece, you can control music and calls with simple swipes or taps. Swipe forward to skip a track, or backwards to go back a track, swipe up or down for volume and tap to pause/play or answer calls. It works great and all the controls are very easy and intuitive to use. - The noise cancelling feature works great. Between the great fit of the over-the-ear earpieces and the noise cancelling feature, it cuts out almost all outside sound. The noise cancelling button on the headphones will cycle between noise cancelling, ambient sound, or off. In the Sony Sound Connect App you can turn off any of those options. For example, if you want the button to only cycle between noise cancelling and ambient sound, you can remove the "Off" option from the button option. - With the listening mode button, you can switch between listening modes, including Standard, Music (360 Upmix), Cinema (360 Upmix), Game (360 Upmix), and Background Music. Again, in the App you can control which of those options are available in the options you cycle between with the on earpiece button. The options make a big difference in the sound. For music I cycle between Standard and the Music - 360 Upmix. The 360 makes it sound like I'm at a live concert, so for some albums I prefer this mode, while others I prefer standard with EQ settings. The Cinema - 360 really sounds good when I'm watching a movie and makes it sound more like a theater. The Background Music option is interesting, as whatever you are listening to sounds like coffee shop or elevator music, which I sometimes use when I really need to focus on a work project. - Phone calls sound great with these headphones. I can hear voices very clearly and those I'm talking to can hear me well also. They use six microphones and Precise Voice Pickup Technology to reduce background and wind noise and focus on voices. They work great for virtual meetings too. - The amount of things you can control and adjust using the Sony Sound Connect App is amazing. It is packed with settings and features and controls. They even allow you to add the features you use most to a home screen in the App or remove items so you can easily adjust those items faster. Some of the options include an equalizer; Scene-based listening to automatically adjust the settings if you put them on, or for running or to automatically provide voice cues when wearing; Adaptive sound control can be automatically set based on certain actions or locations; Safe Listening to ensure you are using them in a safe manner for the volume and length of time; and you can connect two devices to the App at the same time, program a couple Quick Access services for something else you want to control from the earpieces; allow certain controls to be done by head gestures; provide quick access to Amazon Music, or Apple Music, or Endel, or Spotify or YouTube Music. These are just a sample of all the different settings you can control within the App and for many of those functions, you can enter a screen to control various things within that option. This has to be the most useful headphone or speaker App I've ever used and truly allows you to control them for what works best for you, no matter what you are doing. - One of my favorite App settings is the Equalizer. I love to play with equalizers when listening to different kinds of music. These headphones actually have a 10-band equalizer, which I have never seen in another set of headphones. It comes with a number of preset EQ Options, including Off, Heavy, Clear, Hard, Soft, Game and then there are a Manual, Custom1 and Custom2, all three of which you can set each band to your liking. Again, I have also never had headphones that gave me three customizable settings for the equalizer. This has been a lot of fun to play with and create my own settings for different types of music. - For me, while all these features I've mentioned are great, the most important thing still comes down to the sound quality, and the Sony 1000X's really deliver! I have listened to about every genre of music, plus male/female singers, loud/soft music, instrumental, you name it, and I am happy to say it all sounds great. The sound quality is very good. I tend to like a good bass punch and these headphones do a great job on the bass, without distortion, and also provide clear highs and vocals. As mentioned, I also enjoy playing with the Equalizer settings for different types of music, though that is optional, as the standard listening mode is also great if you like to just listen without adjusting things. - The headphones also have good battery life, lasting for up to 24 hours on a full charge. You can also get an additional 1.5 hours from only 5 minutes of charging. - The case these headphones come in is also very nice and great for traveling. It is a nice hard case with a soft material cover and has a handle and a magnetic closure and a little internal compartment for the included plug-in cord to use if connecting via wire to a device such as an airplane. The case itself is relatively flat and compact shaped for over-the-ear headphones and would fit pretty easily into most backpacks or briefcase style bags. I haven't flown with these headphones yet, but with the case size/style and the noise canceling quality, these will be my new go-to travel headphones. - The only con I can think to mention, is these headphones do not come with a charging cord. I was surprised it is not provided, as most devices come with their own cord. However, it uses a simple USB-C charging cord, which nearly everybody has multiple of those cords laying around these days, so it probably makes sense that providing yet another one is not necessary. Overall, the Sony 1000X THE COLLEXION Wireless Noise Canceling Headphones are a high-quality, great-sounding, feature-rich set of headphones that will not disappoint! I highly recommend them.

This is an awesome pair of headphones but the price is why I gave 3 stars. The look and built is top notch but $650 is not worth the price since the Sony WH1000xm5 dropped to $200 during this Amazon Prime days sale. The sound on the Collexion is better than the XM6 but not better than the XM5(which is V-shaped) which I prefer. The padding on the XM6 is horrible and flimsy, the XM6 sound is like the old Sony sound which is why I stayed away from this brand over the years. The Collexion sound is sort of in between the XM6 and XM5 with a powerful 10band equalizer than can adjust to taste.

We are so glad to hear that you are loving the top-notch look and build of the Collexion, and that the powerful 10-band equalizer is giving you that flexibility to adjust the sound exactly to your taste!

We also really appreciate you calling out your thoughts on the pricing compared to the XM5, as well as your feedback on the XM6 padding and sound profile. We want our headphones to feel as premium as they sound, so we are definitely passing your notes regarding the XM6 comfort and the different sound signatures straight along to our engineering team. It helps us a ton when deciding how to tune things for future generations.

Beautiful headset. Comfortable on the ears for long calls or gaming. Comes with a nice "carry friendly" case that is comfortable in your fingers as well. The 1000X The Collexion headphones have nice metal accents and soft vegan leather. The earcups (Sony-speak) are oversized, and the cushioned headband is comfortable as well. The sound quality is really nice. The headphone (custom made) drivers offer great sound. Whether you're listening to "pant flap" low frequencies or midrange to higher end vocals, these headphones tracked with the sound. The offered clarity unlike other headsets I've paid more money for. With the Sony 1000X THE COLLEXION, you will get studio-like fidelity. Another feature is spatial audio with what Sony terms 360 Upmix. This takes normal stereo audio and translates it to immersive spatial sound. The headsets offer HD Noise Cancelling with Adaptive Optimization. This provides the user with Sony's HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN3 and their Integrated Processor V3 which the user experience to the environment, air pressure, and fit. The Sony 1000X THE COLLEXION headphones offer very clear call quality as well. It removes ambient sounds that distract the conversation. I found the controls to be very intuitive. The buttons are shaped to enable the user to differentiate between the power, noise cancelling, and listening mode buttons. This allows the use to quick discern the buttons and quickly make adjustments without thought. Battery Life is a really important factor for me. As someone who travels a great deal, I really need the advertised 24 hours of battery life. In between flights, I can get another 1.5 hours of battery life from 5 minutes of charging. One thing that I found to be a little awkward was the continued reference to using the Sony app. I believe that a quality pair of headsets need to stand on their own (and largely, they do). But Sony, please decouple the app from an excellent user experience!
