Best Overall Combination of Sound Quality and NC

I highly recommend this pair of Sony noise-canceling (NC) headphones. With a premium price tag, the build quality of this product is second to none. As this is the second generation for this series, the noise cancelling technology has been tweaked and improved to sense the pressure around the headphones for a more accurate analysis and response to the world around you.Though slightly heavier than the Bose QC headphones, this product is surely comfortable enough to wear hours at a time. I really enjoy that placing your hand to the right earcup allows you to hear when someone is speaking to you without having to take off the headphones.

    Better than my Bose q35

I was skeptical at first about them due to the high quality of sound that I got from my Bose 35 which I lost. I find they ate much better for my life style and music quality is just as good and may slightly out perform the Bose. I love the gesture/swipe based controls. This sold me on it as it was so much easier to control music while working out or just chilling. Love the choice of covering the ear to allow for ambient noise and to talk to someone without having to take off the headphones and still have the music playing in the background. Sony definitely hit it with this pair of over the ear headphones.

I got this product for traveling. Thus far I would say Sony has provided a good product. The noise cancellation is superb. The idea that one can wave their hands on the right side of the headphone to pulse the music so as to listen to what someone has to say provides some class.

I did quite a bit of research. Of course I debated between these and the Bose. My deciding factor came down to the battery life. I can go 5 working days without having to recharge them. I charge them on Sundays and I'm set for the work week. Another thing I liked is the headband. It fits firmly on my head. Compared to Bose, the Bose just felt loose. Some reviews mentioned crackling in the headband for the Sony's, but I haven't had that experience. I've had them for 8 months now and use them daily. It has great sound and can be tweaked to your liking with an app. I'm happy with my purchase!

I used these all through college. As an architecture student, I was in studio pretty much 24/7 and these were with me! The battery lasts about a day with a full charge if you use them all day. If less, it'll last a week or two. Now that I don't use them as much I forget that they need to be charged it lasts so long. Plus even after days of wearing them they're still comfortable! Other headphones smush your ears, but these fit around them making them much more comfortable. Highly recommend these to everyone who asks!

I’ve had the Bose QuietComforts, Beats Studio, and some other wireless headphone brands. Choosing the “best” ones is probably just a matter of preference. Each brand has its pros and cons, And I won’t go over them here. What I will say is the Sony XM2 is my favorite; a very nice balance of the other brands’ pros. Great sound, looks, and comfort. Love the noise cancelling, and things like the ambient sound features. Saw that they dropped in price a few days after buying them and Best Buy happily refunded the difference. Very good pair of headphones and great service from Best Buy!

I travel a lot and buy noise cancelling headphones to block out plane noise. I bought the first version years ago but they are getting pretty beat up and I wanted a new pair. I love the fact that I can use these as regular plugin headphones without using battery. The Bluetooth connections can be a little complex. They don't work well with my older iPod, but do work with the TV when I put Bluetooth transmitter on the receiver--that's nice for watching TV if I want to move around and still hear every word. They connect to my iPhone with no problem. Best Buy sells the transmitter separately.

Best bang for buck if you read up on reviews from other sites. These are a no brainer. Love that they can work with Google assistant, changing for pressure on an airplane, and most importantly, support the LDAC standard that's now in Oreo for hifi audio. BUY THEM.

I have a thing for headphones, and chose this ones on my birthday. They are absolutely amazing! Noise canceling in this is amazing. I love the stylish look of it and if you are comparing them to Bose, know that this headphones are way smarter. Also the app is good.

This is my first pair of over the ear head phones and I do like them overall. The bass is decent and the highs are crisp. I am just surprised for $300+ how flimsy these feel. When you pull them out of the case and move the ear cups around, they are loose and don't click into place or feel snug. Like I said, overall I like them. I just feel for the money spent, they would have felt a little more solid.

This headset is easily the best headset I've ever owned. The noise cancellation works great and the overall sound quality is amazing. The equalizer in the Sony Headphones app is very handy for finding the right balance for whatever music you're listening to.

I’ve never had Sony headphones until I purchased these and I’m amazed. The comfort, sound quality, build materials, and simple yet intuitive app make these premium headphones feel like I’m in the studio with the artist while they make music. Great job Sony!

I live in the Bay Area and my daily commute Bart which i refer to as the Banshee... due to the extremely loud sound of the commuter cars and the rails that it rides on. Researching ANC headphone for several months. After tying all the options out I bought these. The noise cancellation is just brilliant I can barely hear anything related to Bart on my commute now and with the handy cupping feature I can quickly aplify other human voices. My only complaint is that on the Mark II they didn't go to the next and of Bluetooth or two USB type-c but I guarantee that'll be on the next versions if you could hold off. I couldn't cuz I was going insane. I absolutely recommend these!

Sony wins again. Wife and I settled on these as a tax refund purchase. was able to compare this and the bose, both are noise reduction headphones. the Sony made the store sound almost completely silent. the bose still leaked sound. the audio is superior, nice balanced sound and avoids the base boost so many headphones use. We've had these a year still work great. Very comfortable fit for larger heads ( fat head? lol ) A new model is now available to replace these which I'm sure are even better. Recommended ( but pricey)

Sony's 1000XM series is the best in market noise cancelling wireless headphones. For the specific type of headphones they are (closed + wireless + noise cancelling) they provide the best sound quality available, with clear treble and sufficient bass. Their price is on the higher end of the scale but appropriate for the build and audio quality you get. Until someone else provides something better, these are the headphones to get, whether it's the XM2 or the XM3 or the XM4.

    A World Apart

Disclaimer - I am not a millennial whose wardrobe isn't complete without earbuds and whose life has a constant soundtrack. But, I can see what I have been missing by not mixing in some audial enjoyment. I tried these on in Best Buy and found my self in another world of quiet and isolation, but about the time I put them on the salesman came by and spoke something to me. I couldn't hear what he said, but he mimed putting his hand on his ear so I did that and WOW, I could hear clearly. Just cup your hand over your right ear and the noisy world is back. After using these for a month or so I have come to appreciate the ease of use. I put them on at work and double tap the surface of the right headphone (after holding the power button for two seconds) and my iPhone playlist fires up and I can use my finger to swipe up or down for volume and forward or back to advance or rewind my playlist. How intuitive is that? And another double tap stops playback. It has two tactile buttons located out of the way on the left earcup that have easy function. The power button that is on/off with a two second push or Bluetooth seek mode if you hold for about seven seconds. The other button cycles through noise cancelling, ambient sound, or off. AND all functions come with a pleasant announcement of the status such as "power on" slight pause, then "Bluetooth connected" is what I hear each morning at work. I am not an audiophile, but I believe the reviews from those who are that praise the sound quality because it is pretty stunning to me. The most amazing effect has to be the noise canceling though. It is like being in a cocoon within the larger world, but it can be frightening when you stop the effect suddenly. I tried driving to the store with them on the first day I had them and actually pulled over to check on my car when I cancelled the noise cancelling to make sure I wasn't missing something. The road noise in a 2017 Rav4 is scary when you step out of complete isolation. After pulling over in a parking lot and walking around the car to make sure I didn't have a flat tire or something I decided to use the ambient sound setting for my trip. I really don't recommend using these for ANY time you really need to be connected to the outside world, but during lunchtime at work you can enter "a world apart" for real.
