    Awesome in Black

These are my favorite wireless headphones. The sound is awesome and noise cancellation(NC) is also really good. I previously owned Beats studio. The NC on those is nearly none existent and volume level was not very good. In my opinion the Sony 1000XM2 are better in every way. I originally bought the beige color but exchanged them for the black color. The only issue I had with them is that the beige was dull and boring. It didn't look like the color on the box. The beige color is so "blah. However the black color is awesome! They look really good!

I do not profess to the an audiophile, the likes of which some of these other reviewers appear to be, but I do enjoy music and I listen a lot. I enjoy well-made products that feel solid and are easy to use and do the job they advertise. That is these headphones. I have had them for about 2 months and they work and sound great. I do not bring them to the gym often as I prefer ear buds for the gym, but when I have brought them, they are great. The sound is crisp, clear and full. The noise-reduction feature works as advertised. So far, so good.

    Headband still cracking

    Posted .

I love everything else about this headset, but I purchased it on 9/19/17 and the band is cracked *exactly* in the same spot the previous model was cracking. Sony PR reached out on Amazon when this product debuted in early September of 2017 and assured potential buyers (like me) that the materials had be changed to eliminate the issue. I can tell you that the problem is not gone, and it's only a matter of time before your band will crack too. I gingerly took care of these, knowing in advance that the headband would crack, and sure enough, it did, by May of 2018. Sony has not addressed the issue, and there are horror stories on Reddit and in Amazon reviews around Sony's support. Please be aware, these sound great, but are cheaply made for $350.

Noise canceling is excellent. Could not hear my wife when she was talking to me. The minute I put Sony headphones on I immediately felt they were uncomfortable. My ears felt warm within 15 mins. If you want comfort and excellent noise cancelling without the bells and whistles then Bose would be the way to go.

WOW, this might be the best NC headphone you can purchase in the market. Somebody may claim Bose is the best but I do have Bose too and do the comparision and found this one acutally works better to cancel all the ambient sound around you. No doubt Sony headphone always produces great sound. The only thing I want to complain is its weight. It is really heavier than Bose and wearing comfort is not good for a big head, like me.

    Slight update to the MDR1000X

These are similar to the MDR1000X which came out last year, just with mostly minor changes. Appearance: the appearance is largely unchanged. The only difference that I see is that there is no longer a finished edge around the microphone hole on either ear-cup. This provides a very slightly less finished appearance. Feel: the ear-pads are a little fuller on these than the prior version of these headphones, which makes them feel a little more snug around the ear. This is mostly just a personal preference difference. Audio: The sound out of these is still absolutely amazing. I have these as well as some older over-the-ear headphones from Bose, and I'd say the bass reproduction/output is better on the Sony headphones. This is particularly noticeable with the noise-cancelling on, which works very well. The headphones also feel more premium due to the added weight (likely from the additional battery not present in a standard wired headset). Additionally, these can be used for making phone calls while connected to a phone. The quality on my end is clear, and no one has made any comments about the audio quality on the other end. The only actual comment I received came when I needed to disconnect these, and people on the other end said they couldn't hear me as well through the regular phone microphone as they could while I was using the headphones. Controls: These have the same touch-controls as the prior iteration, which work well. It is very intuitive that you drag your finger up/down on the ear-cap to turn the volume up/down; drag forward or back to skip forward/back. Double-tap to play/pause or answer/hang up the phone. Very easy. They also removed a button from the prior version which makes switching between noise-cancelling and allowing ambient voices through more difficult. However, they balanced this out by providing an app for your phone which allows much greater control over the noise-cancelling when changing environments and activities. You can even adjust the air pressure in the ear-cups for use when flying! All in all, these are excellent headphones with sound comparable/better than Bose (though I haven't tried Bose with noise-cancelling). You won't go wrong with these headphones.

I bought these headphones to make it easier to concentrate at work, where I sit in an "open space team room" amongst very conversive co-workers. These things are insane. With noise canceling alone, most of the background noise is completely removed. If I play music or even just stream background sounds from Noisli, it's like I'm in another world. To be honest, I preferred the sound quality for music in the Bose QuietComfort 35's just a tiny bit more, but I think the Sony headphones blow away Bose for noise canceling.

These headphones are amazing... the first of their kind... as a NYC commuter the noise cancelling works well so I never hear people... I just stare at them blankly when they try to talk to me... but the ambient noise is better in case I need to hear train and bus delay announcements... and the quick volume lowering feature is perfect so I can quickly order that chocolate muffin I don't need... worth the price and they should bring these back... I should have never upgraded...

I stood by Beats Headphones until Apple purchased the company. Not the same quality as the originals. I did a lot of homework before making a decision on these. These Sony’s is the best Noice Canceling Headphones on the market. The music is crisp. They all are lacking that bass that Beats use to have. Download the apps for these and you will be amazed at how much control you’ll have with these headphones. You won’t be disappointed. The best on the market. I caught them when they was on sale. Get them!

I purchased these for my husband during the Black Friday sale. I went initially to get a cheaper version. When I walked in an employee showed me where they were located and asked if I had any questions. I asked how are these better than a really cheap version. He told me to listen to the ones on display. Without a doubt, hands down there was no comparison. I didn't plan on splurging this much but some things are worth it. I feel we will have here and use them for a number of years.
