    Step back from STR-DH750

    Good audio and video quality. The main issue is that the system lacks customization options. I can't label my turntable input, my TiVo says CATV, my PS4 says game, my X-Box says video. All of this was changeable on the older STR-DH750 (which was my previous unit). You're stuck with what it decides which results, in my opinion, in worse audio, worse video, and a worse experience than the previous version. A step down, not up.

    This is a very good receiver for not a lot of money. It was very simple to hook up. The Bluetooth range is very good compare to the Denon receiver it replaced. I couldn't be happier with this Sony receiver.

    I purchased for use in a church/professional setting after spending much time reading online reviews and talking to sales personnel at our local Best Buy store. I like the many features including multiple HDMI connections, 3D, 4K ,etc. Very pleased with this device.

    Xbox One S has issues with this receiver. First day of use black screens until one point the Xbox wouldn't display. Tried hard resetting the Xbox and receiver. Plugged Xbox into the TV and it worked immediately. Have also read issues about same with ps4 pro. Anyone using Astro A50s this receiver does not have optical out. I had my A50s set for all TV audio. Now only through Xbox. I could still use for audio through optical TV to receiver but I wanted less remotes. Being able to switch inputs through receiver remote. Overall good sale price decent specs but I'm so close to returning it. I'm just so sick of companies selling things that don't work fully. Meh.

    This is a great receiver, but you must know how to use it to get Great Surround Sound. I wrote Sony and they wrote me back telling me how to set it to get sound to all my speakers. What a great and powerful sounding Amp.

    Sony - 1015w 7.2-ch. 4k Ultra VS Onkyo TX-NR646

    I purchase the Sony Receiver first because of the price. Everything was good but up to the sound ....the Sony had no punch and no power. So I return the unit and end up purchasing the Onkyo receiver. Now this unit had the punch and the power. I hope this helps.

    Can you add a equalizer to this receiver. If so, please explain how. Directions don't do any good.

    Would be great if it actually worked

    The receiver is labeled as a full 4K passthrough, and that all features and functions of 4K work without issue. That, unfortunately, is not the case. I got a new Xbox One S along with this receiver when I upgraded my TV to a 4K set. In testing with the receiver being in the middle between the TV and the XBox, only the 4k resolution was available. No HDR features were available. On calling Sony's customer support line, I confirmed that all HDMI HD features were enabled. Their best solution was to turn the TV in to the AV hub and use the ARC channel for audio. That's great, but the TV only does 2-channel audio, so there's very little point in using the receiver. I'm still waiting on an update for customer support escalations, but I'm guessing I'll be returning this for a different product.

    Got this to replace an older pioneer after I upgraded to a Sony 4K tv. Very pleased with the price and functionality of this unit. Sony support is outstanding as well.

    First one would error out and wouldn't stay on. BB replaced it and now second one won't turn off. Have to unplug it to turn it off. Sony used to be premium stuff but not with this unit. Getting my money back and going with Yamaha.

    I have horrible experience with Sony product which I would like to share with you. I brought an AV centre (STRDH740) from Futureshop about 1.5 years ago. It functions well and I did not use it all the time. Few months back, the unit goes to protection and shuts down by itself. I took every connection in the back of the unit off and then tried again to ensure is not some other electronic equipment that was short. It is confirm that the unit is shutdown by itself. I phoned the Sony Customer Information Service Centre (1-800-222-7669) and informed that is the unit is broken. They send me to one of the authorized repair centre in our city which only 2 authorized repair centre for the whole Canada. During our conversion to the Customer Information Service representative, I asked do I need to confirm with the authorized repair centre and the representative said no need to do it. After I arrived the repair centre and they said they do not get any Sony product for last 5 years and they will not do any repair for Sony. I had to travel back to home without any repair and waste an hour of my time. I phoned to the Sony Customer Information Service again and informed the representative this is the case. They said they have to talk to manager and get back to me next day. Next day, no one call me at all. After 2 days later, representative called and informed me to mail the unit to Ontario and they will pay for the shipping. I asked for a box to protect the unit and they said they do not send box out. I make a box with some protection and mailed it out. After more than 3 weeks later, Representative from Sony called to let me know the unit was damage physically and he let me know that the USB port was damage. They are responsible to fix the USB. I told him to just fix the unit as much as you can and representative told me that Sony will fix the unit as much as he can under the warranty but he will email me the phone number for the authorized repair centre; but the representative never email me the phone number. I was very busy with my other stuff so I just wait for them to call me back. 2 weeks ago (Oct 2016) the repair centre called me and asked that they need me to determine is the USB getting fix or not. He said that it charge $45 to open the case and additional to get the USB fix. I told him I do not used USB at all, so just fix what is in the warranty and mail it back. He said he will mail it out right away. Last week, I got it back with nothing being fixed at all. I phoned the Sony Customer Information Service again for the third time; the representative said the warranty is void because it is damage. I told him that has not physical damage when I mailed it out in the first place and also the damage is not caused by physical and you should at least fix “goes to protection and shuts down”. I also told him that I asked for the box which you did not provided and the postal of the unit was provided by you. He told me the unit will not be fixing by Sony at all. I asked for address to mail complaint, he told me that he is logging the complaint as now and will not give me the address. Sony used to be a good company with good product but this experience taught me not to buy Sony at all. I just want to share my experience with everyone and please do not buy Sony with OK product but not care Customer service.

    Nice when it works

    I purchased this Sony from Best Buy on eBay. Had it for a couple months until the unit would not turn on. Got to the point of not even turning on or responding to the remote. Sony did not respond to my emails PERIOD.. So, contacted Best Buy and they ultimately fixed it although took almost a month. The parts alone were over $200! I guess Sony not using the best components as I honestly would have thrown it away and never placed that much money to fix it. Sony has gone a little down hill as far a quality IMO.. My Harmon Kardon lasted 10 years until it died. Sony not in that league of quality.

    Well I had to make a call to Sony about a week after I bought it but I really don't think the customer service rep was that good at all. The sound cuts out sometimes when I am watching Directv and I really don't like not being able to watch tv without the receiver bring on. First time I have ever had any problems with Sony products, however I am now suspecting it may be the directv signal. We will see.
