First the sound quality is excellent. This is a replacement receiver. A pioneer 7.2. Less powerful as so I thought. The subwoofer port did not operate properly. Being that i was gifted with a subwoofer. I connected my system just as I with the Pioneer. The volume would go all the way to the MAX with only about 20 watts per channel Maxed out. Sound Quality was great NO NOISE. Crisp and clear. No bass and treble adjustments and it lacked in high tones and midranges the bass was very good. The pre-amp has brought the power up to about 60 watts rms with some peaks over 120. The other minor problem is setting tuner stations I had to go to the Sony website to get instructions and am still having some issues setting stations. I have considered maybe after more advice to get another pre-amp to boost the input to the receiver. I did try all the input ports.

It does everything I wanted. Plus has hdmi 2.2 for ultra HD and HDR. Great sound. Worth every penny.

The Sony DN 1080 was a significant step up from the Sony DH 770 that it replaced. Everyone in my family was immediately able to hear the difference. They all said that it sounded better. Has many more features than previous. It's a great product.

Really have enjoyed this receiver since purchase over the summer. It has plenty of power, very quality sound and as the reviews show, it's a winning choice. We normally buy Denon and Pioneer but this Sony is worth a look!

Definitely more than needed for most everyday use. I have had to do a lot of investigating to find some of the features I am using. All my ‘old school’ components are connected and working. So thumbs up! I’d buy this receiver again.

I love this A/V Home theater receiver that I just bought.....It's perfect for my new house...

First upgrade in over 10 years. Paired with Kipsich Atmos speakers and the sound quality is amazing. Easy set up and control. Plenty of ports to add devices and only run one HDMI cable to the TV.

To be honest - this is my first receiver. However, this paired with Sony's ss/sce ( high resolution ) speaker series which includes Dolby Atmos speakers and the Sony X800-M2 4k/bluray player with Dolby Atmos and Dolby vision gives a you real 3D listening experience. For the price, this has more than what the average theater or music listener needs. Just plug in the proper HDMI for your device ( SonyX800-M2 bluray player ) and the 4K picture is passed through to your TV with Dolby vision while the Dolby Atmos audio is sent to the speakers. The Bluetooth is great and enhances the music sound. Volume wise , at less than half , you can FEEL the audio. Proportionately speaking : For the size of my living room coupled with the receiver , it matches or ( near matches ) the audio as if you were in a theater watching the movie. Songs are crystal clear AND the places in the movies where they just talk is FINALLY HEARD . LOVING IT !!!!

So far it's delivered all the high end sound for my Klipsch speaker setup. It's fairly intuitive to operate and the auto setup is pretty cool. I like the surround sound features and it makes movies feel like I'm in a movie theater, yet in my living room.

Overall this system is pretty good. The sound and picture is crisp. I am hearing things I had not with my previous receiver. It also gets loud, which I like. The set-up was easy and it has 5 HDMI inputs. The on-screen set up was pretty decent, but I think it could be easier. My biggest issues are with the remote. I wish it was set-up for the 5 HDMI inputs, for the quick change. I do not understand why there are two music buttons and a USB button, but other HDMI inputs were ignored. Also, it seems to default to Blu-Ray when you turn it back on. Not always, but most of the time. That can be a bit annoying. The last gripe it the crackling noise when you switch inputs. Not too crazy about that. However, the pros far outweigh the the cons. I have this hooked up to my Sony 85" TV. Love it!

After the easy setup and auto calibration the Atmos system was awesome movie watching just became probably better than the movie theater. This is definitely comparable to the higher end units.

I absolutely love this Dolby Atmos system. It has an easy to use remote control that you can see prompts on screen Making it easy to navigate the all the features that this system has.

Incredible sound and ease of use for an affordable, modern receiver. I installed ceiling speakers, got a Roku Ultra and enjoy Dolby Atmos movies on several channels. I highly recommend this receiver.

Usually do not buy Sony for a receiver but purchased due to on line reviews. Am pleasantly surprised how good the sound is. Very detailed and natural sound for movies and the receiver is very easy to use.
