I had a Sony Receiver that was purchased in the last century and it was giving me an error message "Protector" every time I turned it on. This new receiver doesn't have a AM tuner, otherwise it is better than the old one for almost the same price. The sound quality is excellent and FM stations are output through all 5 speakers (without selecting a sound field), so I'm happy about that. Currently, we have a 5.1 Bose Acoustimas system although quite old but great sound. I love the fact that it has bluetooth input and output, so I can listen through my bluetooth headphones. Also like the support for Apple airplay. It was inconvenient to connect the speaker wires in the back, but it's only a one time setup inconvenience and nothing to gripe about.

This system replaced my Sony dnr 840 system which I enjoyed and had no issues, I just wanted more up to date features and technology. This offered that and more. Music and movies sound great. I like the option to auto calibrate my speakers and the ability to tweak them afterward to my personal preference. I also like the visual menus it makes for an easy set up and management. These systems are easy to use and get great reviews - deservedly so. Good quality and sound. The only gripe I can think of is that they removed one of the optical audio ports, I had two on my 840 and there is no standard fm antennae connection for radio reception. But I don't really listen to the radio and can always stream radio stations. I use this every day and it has far exceeded my expectations.

Sound is good. Relatively simple to set up if everything is working well. I had a rear ceiling speaker that wasn’t working and I could not by pass. Also the Sony wants to control everything and conflicts with the Samsung TV which also wants to control everything. The Sony keeps returning to the Home Screen after about 15 seconds. Have checked many forums and have not found a work around.

Beautiful sound and color to my TV and speakers! Setup is better manually than using the microphone sensor thing if you know how to setup this way. Good job overall Sony!

Great sound quality and easy setup. 4k upscaling and video quality great as well.

Good receiver for the price. Easy to set up with the tv being used for most user settings including a microphone for calibration of speakers. It can tell you if wires are reversed and a speaker is out of phase. I have it set up with a Sony A8H 65 “ OLED TV. The CEC functions work well. My only Con is that there is no output, audio jack or optical output to use for an hearing assist device. They exist on the tv but cec disables them when receiver is on.

Set-up with receiver is excellent. All inputs are clearly marked by type of input device, so you easily know where the cords should be placed. In addition, really good sound mix.

If in a rush don’t attempt to set this up! After comparing which speaker wires go where, I proceed with caution and time. When everything was setup, I proceed to setup it up and that of course was easy and connecting to the Internet was a breeze. The subwoofer I just purchased didn’t play with the Pioneer (it was dying) forgot to turn the volume down put a movie on wow, the subwoofer was awesome. I use Polk Audio speakers. The only issue I had was getting 2 sound icons when I adjusted the volume; I was told for the TV (Samsung) to turn off the HDMI CEC and the same for the receiver. Now I don’t have to raise the volume to 50 on the Sony. Great sound..I use a harmony remote as well.

This is a good receiver with great power and easy setup. I personally took it back only because I didn’t get the perfect sound I was looking for. It was almost there. I would still recommend this product.

I got to replace an Onkyo receiver that had died, was going with another Onkyo but was talked into the Sony and I am not disappointed. Much easier to use and the sale price was excellent,

This is the perfect budget Dolby Atmos 5.1.2 AVR! Easy to set up and use! Pairs excellently with the Sony Core Series speakers! Has a beefy feel to it and looks great in my entertainment center!

I bought this to replace my 10 year old Sony that was still kicking, but I wanted to upgrade to have all the new technology. I don't know what else you could want an A/V receiver to do that this one doesn't. Wifi enabled, it can send and transmit Bluetooth, an extra channel output for another room or outside. The list goes on and on. The sound is incredible. I'm using it to run a modest Polk Audio surround sound set of speakers and it will shake the house when in Dolby Atmos mode. If it's raining in the movie you wonder any you're not getting wet. I bought this on sale on black Friday, and got a rediculous deal, but after having it a couple of months I would be completely satisfied if had paid the regular price. You won't be disappointed.

I got this for $350 on sale, and it’s definitely worth it. It has a bunch of hdmis so I can connect everything to it. And it’s powering my Klipsch speakers with ease. Definitely worth the buy on sale

Bought this as a Christmas gift. I had always bought Denon and Onkyo receivers. But used to favor Sony’s for TV back in the triniton days. Also liked and bought several Sony VAIO desktops and laptops. So I always felt Sony equipment was top notch. This receiver seems to validate that. Also there seems to be a lot of issues with Onkyo and Denon lately. Too soon to judge reliability for this Sony. But the sound and connectivity is great. Reviews seem very positive overall. Hoping this will be reliable in the long term.

Bought this to replace an older Sony that said had 4k pass through but really struggled with it. This one works flawlessly with my Sony 4k bluray player. Decode atmos. Easy on screen setup. LOVE IT.
