Customers are saying
Customers often highlight the excellent sound quality, ease of use, and Dolby Atmos capabilities of the 1155W 7.2-Ch. A/V Home Theater Receiver. Many also appreciate the receiver's power and straightforward setup process. While some users noted the unit can get warm during operation and that the menu system could be improved, the positive feedback on sound and ease of use outweighs these concerns for most buyers. The price point is also frequently cited as a positive aspect.

Thank you for the 5-star rating! You’re now able to experience true home theater sound without limitations. Once you take advantage of Dolby Atmos and DTS:X object-based surround sound, combined with 4K HDR and HDCP 2.2 support, there is no going back! Be sure to take advantage of the flexibility of 6- in/2-out HDMI and multi-room listening, plus voice control powered by Google Home. Quality remains long after price is forgotten.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fantastic receiver. I had a STR-DH550 which was good. This is nice. Plenty of inputs. Speakers can be hardwired (me) or Bluetooth. Setting up the surround sound could not be easier. The on-screen preferences menu is super-cool. No more doing it from the analog screen of the receiver. You do it from your TV. Then there is the part that really drew me to it, the receiver can download updates to it's software. Either automatically or at your discretion if you want to do it that way. Love. It. Oh, and it sounds fabulous too.

Great Receiver!!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this receiver to replace my STR-DN1040. I upgraded to a 4K Projector and the old receiver wasn’t 2.2 compliant. This receiver did the trick and the on screen menu is very user friendly. The supplied microphone is also improved and very accurate. My speakers didn’t move and when I ran the speaker test it measured the speakers exactly right down to the last inch. My 1040 would always be a few inches off when I compared it to measuring by hand. This unit is also heavy and built like a tank so you know it’s going to last. If you are looking for a good 7.2 receiver that won’t break the bank I highly recommend this receiver!!!

Very Good Receiver
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this receiver after talking with the in store sales representative. I was originally looking at the Denon and Yamaha options, but after speaking with the local guy he convinced me Sony offered the best deal with the best sound reproduction. I realize this is not the top of the line receiver for the 500 to 600 hundred dollar range, but it does work for me after upgrading from a plasma tv to a new LG LED tv after my old pioneer wouldn't communicate on the newer HDCP 2.2 format all of a sudden. The new receiver was simple to connect and plays well with all involved. The only complaint I have is that when turning on the tv I have to select the source rather than it defaulting to the last input. Other than than that I am pleased with my purchase.

Easy to hook up. Versatile.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Clean design. Remote is necessary. Many more features than I need. Sound quality is very good. Not as powerful as previous much older Sony receiver. Has front USB port which I like. Sound level always needs adjustment when switching between inputs. Used with Sony TV and find, unless you use phone app, you will need both remotes. Somewhat confusing when used as system hub. I use TV as hub. Tuner somewhat of a letdown. No AM section. Old Sony XDR-F1HD is much better for broadcast radio. Impressive home theater capabilities that are lost on me as I use it for music and non-adventure type movies and TV.

This works great!
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a sony tv from 2017 and it works great with it. It has ample HDMI ports (4K) so that I don't really use the hd inputs on my tv and for many of the things I connect to the receiver, the inputs switch automatically. The sound it great as I have it set up as 5.1.2 with the atmos speakers on top of the to front speakers (and bouncing sound off ceiling). It's unfortunate this is no longer sold, so I would get it if you see it in stock.

Impressive receiver
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this receiver to go alongside my Sony TV and Sony Blu-ray. I am especially pleased by the Sony Music Center mobile app (Android) as it allows easy control of the receiver inputs and zones. I use zone 2 for my outside living area and it works great. The only downside about the zone 2 functionality, which I knew when I bought it, is that you can't play HDMI sources to zone 2. For example, if I want to stream music from my Dish receiver, which is connected to the AV receiver via HDMI, I must use a separate audio cable. This isn't a huge deal, just an extra cable to add to my already cluttered system. Otherwise, the sound is great and it does exactly what I need it to.

Crazy good audio
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This AV Receiver is easy to setup with the included microphone and it's auto calibration. You will need a 5.1.2 or 5.2.2 speaker setup to get your full Dolby ATMOS experience. The sound quality is top notch for the price of this receiver. Multi-channel stereo makes music come alive. I hooked it up to my LG OLED55C6P TV but I believe the HDMI CEC in the Sony receiver is not fully compatible with LG's CEC which is more generic. While all remotes were able to control Power and Volume, all other features required separate remotes.

What an uograde!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to replace an aging Onkyo. The Onkyo was a complete 7.1 set up with all the speakers. I hooked up the new Sony with the old speakers and the sound was better than the Onkyo, but I was expecting more. I replaced the center, left front, and right front speakers with the recommended Sony speakers and WOW! I am adding the Sony Atmoss speakers next with the side surround speakers next. I will not be replacing the rear surround speakers since my couch is up against the wall as the Atmoss speakers should do a far better job.

A Great Upgrade
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While not a a huge step up, the Sony STR-DN1080 offered enough changes to warrant upgrading from my previous Sony receiver (STR-DN1060)...of course, the $150 of sale price was an wonderful extra benefit. Some of these updates include a better speaker calibration, Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Phantom Surround Back, and better 4K upscaling. If you prefer Sony home theater receivers over other brands of similar quality/price...or, like me, if you can't currently afford something from Onkyo, Denon, or others of similar quality)...then the STR-DN1080 is worth considering. If you have anything older than the STR-DN1060, then the STR-DN1080 is seriously worth considering.
