Does The Job

It is set up in 5.2.2 with two Atmos speakers. The set up and calibration was simple enough. The results are the expected step up from my previous system. Two little things stopped me from giving this receiver 5 stars. Interestingly while the system is advertised as 7.2 there is no actual configuration for two subs. There are two preamp out puts and I am using two subs on my setup. The ARC is a bit flaky. If I turn on the receiver before the TV I don't get any sound. As long as the TV is used to turn the system on an off it seems to be ok.

Step up into Bluetooth capability

(Specifically the LDAC codec) This allows me to listen to whatever i'm watching on TV, at any level I want without disturbing others (which is something I wonder how I did without now that I have it) Sound quality is great thanks to the hi res LDAC codec for music streaming, however when watching TV with said Sony headphones there there is still a slight lag in the audio at times. Not too distracting, but noticeable. Would have been a 5 otherwise!

This receiver has the ability of offering sound from 1 of the 2 areas instead of bothering our neighbors with our movies 100% of the time. Now, we can Bluetooth, Listen to Music from CD's, Listen to Music from tv, etc from our receiver on the patio and watch movies using two separate areas. The HOA will not be knocking on our door unless we play the music on the outdoor speakers to high. Which could happen....

We bought this to replace another Sony receiver that didn't have built in Wi-Fi. While that one sounded good, the sound quality of this model is flat out amazing. Deep, rich bass and clear, tight highs. This really puts out a fully rounded sound. Our home theater has never sounded better. Now we can connect to our Bluetooth enabled devices. The 4k pass-through is a nice feature as well. The fact that it was on sale made it a great value for the price. I'm very pleased with our purchase.
