It integrates well with my Sony tv The sound is excellent but was hoping it would solve the modern problem of us older people hearing the spoken word over background music a bit better with some shows we like to watch. Great Sound Still w/Hi Tech!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.After 16 Years of wonderful 5.1 Surround-sound, My Sony Receiver started to loose sound. I really wanted to just repair it, save some money and not purchase a new one. However, with repair cost and time, it simply was not feasible for me. So I began my research and shopping around at least for a good 8 Days or so, with an open mind but with one condition: I was already spoiled and know what great sound IS, therefore, the replacement had to Sound Great! Ironically, I still came back to Sony! I checked out Marantz, and a few others and in comparison for my Price Range between $400 - $700, the lower end Marantz line was not as good and had less Output Wattage per Speaker and even had a Small look about it. After all, these are Show Pieces too! Lol. Nonetheless, I know Sony Sound Quality and elected to replace my Old Sony with the New Sony 1155W 7.2 Channels! The reviews were the highest in comparison to others in that price range. So with this new Sony, I needed a few more Speakers now that I have 7.2 Channels, so I purchased an additional Sony Subwoofer to complete the .2 as well as 2 Small but High Wattage Surround High Speakers and installed up near the Ceiling on the Backwall! Overall, The Sound Technologies are so Crisp and Clear and Deep making each Watch and/or Listen Come To Life!!!

Long overdue

As a result, I put off upgrading to this unit (from the STR DN1060) for quite awhile. Now that I have finally upgraded, I discovered to my surprise that our TV does have HDR (all thanks to this receiver). The STR DN1060 was good, but this unit is great. 4K HDR (Dolby Vision) and Dolby Atmos - amazing!

Speaker set-up was also awesome. The most disappointing for me was that it did NOT play well with my new SonyXBR75900h. I bought the receiver because I wanted seamless integration and I returned it because it did not seamlessly integrate! The TV and receiver would turn itself on throughout the day, coupled with the continuous loss of audio when using eArc connections. I have since discovered that Sony has not released firmware updates to fix eArce connectivity, but I did not buy the TV and receiver as a beta tester while they try to figure things out. Moreover, the clicking from both the receiver and TV was over the top. Lastly, while the sound is great for movies, not so great for music.

We’re sorry to hear your you are experiencing some audio issues and turning itself on. This is definitely not the experience we wanted you to have in our product. While we're glad you like the features and speaker setup, we regret to hear that the AV receiver had to be returned. We also appreciate setting the RS232C control to Via serial port on the TV.
Note: This setting may affect the power consumption of the TV.
A. On the remote control, press the HOME button.
B. Select Settings → Remotes & Accessories → Via serial port.
In addition, you may also perform a reset on the AV receiver and TV. Please refer to this link for instructions https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/articles/00159487.
Make sure Software Auto update is set to ON (for future software updates).
A. On the supplied remote, press the Help button.
B. Select System software update, and make sure Automatically check for update is set to ON.

I have been very happy with my Sony 65" HDTV and my Sony Ultra HD blu-ray player, and now they all work very well together with the Sony A/V receiver.

The longevity of a Sony product has been the best value for the prices. This will enable you to get all the features of a premiere home theatre system. Unlike a previous model , there are no issues with the OSM. 4 stars not 5, lacking a user friendly appearance.

I can’t be happier. Setup was simple, but definitely take the time to read carefully through all the options And settings during calibration and dig around in system settings after calibration to make sure you’re getting the most of your system.
