Customers are saying

Customers often highlight the excellent sound quality, ease of use, and Dolby Atmos capabilities of the 1155W 7.2-Ch. A/V Home Theater Receiver. Many also appreciate the receiver's power and straightforward setup process. While some users noted the unit can get warm during operation and that the menu system could be improved, the positive feedback on sound and ease of use outweighs these concerns for most buyers. The price point is also frequently cited as a positive aspect.

      Hi Shakes,

Thank you for the postive review and the recommendation. We appreciate it! You’re now able to experience true home theater sound without limitations. Once you take advantage of Dolby Atmos and DTS:X object-based surround sound, combined with 4K HDR and HDCP 2.2 support, there is no going back! Be sure to take advantage of the flexibility of 6- in/2-out HDMI and multi-room listening, plus voice control powered by Google Home. Don’t forget our Phantom rear surround channels can transform your five-channel system into a seven- channel system too!

Sony once again! After a foray into the expensive MARANTZ world...tricky to operate and expensive to repair...and trying Denon, I went back to Sony. I had the next model down in price and power in a bedroom and could not complain of ease of use and Atmos performance. Why not go bigger in the great room to replace my Marantz? Big and cheaper, lots of power, easy to set up and did I mention power? Very strong and solid performance so far and at more than half the price. Denon was way too finicky coupled with a Samsung TV, so forget them. Back with Sony to stay. I am not an audiofile but I know what sounds good to me.

I'll be honest and admit this receiver has more features than I know what to do with so far. My surround sounds great. I installed it myself and it looks nice. Only about a month old to me but no issues.

This amp in the STR-DN product line has a great feature set and excellent sound quality. The design of the remote is not that great and it is not comfortable to use, but that is easily solved by just using a different remote.

    A fatal flaw

I purchased the receiver about a week ago. I researched the features and it met all my requirements. The set up was fairly easy and I was able to test everything the unit had to offer. It all worked flawlessly, at least for a few days. Unfortunately then it developed a fatal flaw, namely once in a while it would stop sending video signal through the HDMI cable to my television set. A day later the signal loss would happen regularly and exactly every 20 minutes. Called Sony support and they suggested resetting the receiver. All the setup work including network, bluetooth, calibration and so on would have to be done again. I was told that maybe the HDMI connection issue might not manifest itself again, or maybe there was a glitch in the unit. Obviously I returned the unit. Too bad because I loved the features, the sound quality and the video.

I purchased this receiver to compliment the Sony TV and Sony DVD player I use with in-ceiling speakers and a subwoofer for TV streaming and movies. I did not give this unit 5 stars because I could not get the eARC function to work with the TV, even though all of the products are 6 months old or less, and with the help of the Geek Squad. The Geek Squad recommended the optical cable which works for TV streaming but not with the DVD player. I also purchased the Harmony Elite IR remote to help streamline the process. The unit’s power is outstanding, and delivers a true theater-like experience. The set up was simple, and the features are very good, and I give “ease of use” only 3/5 because of the eARC issue I couldn’t resolve.

Good value for a 2 zone AVR

Great AVR at a great price. One of the least expensive with two zones. Plenty of inputs, easy on screen setup. Sound is great. The FM tuner is good, however, to use an external antenna, you need to order a JST-PH 2.0 connector, and solder your coax to the pigtails or use a 300 to 75 ohm balun to connect it. Once connected, it has good sensitivity and sound. Why they did not use a standard 75 ohm connector eludes me. The only negative is it only has 3 video HDMI direct access buttons on the remote, and the "Watch" button to bring the rest up is pretty slow to react. 4K HDR works perfectly.
