||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this receiver after being disappointed with the bare bones Sony STRDH970. The STRDN1080 is a definite upgrade over the 970 with an on screen UI and few more configuration options. It's worth mentioning that this receiver supports eARC meaning that lossless multichannel audio (DTS-Master/Atmos) can be sent from the TV to the receiver. This will become important as more TV's ad support for HDMI 2.1. My only real complains about this receiver are that the surround imaging was not great after using the auto calibration mic and their always seems to be some audio processing lag, even when in "pure" mode. My previous Sony receiver had no audio lag whatsoever.

This receiver is a great item if you need the option to output to multiple devices. We installed it to run a TV or a 4k Projector. We quickly found that we needed to review the settings to disable the "auto" shutdown or and HDMI zone settings to get the unit to continue to send the output to HDMI B (zone) so the projector was getting a solid signal. Thru trial and error we got it to work; but had to disable auto shutdown. Picture 4k pass thru was excellent; sound is excellent.
