When pausing/stopping while in Dolby Atmos this receiver makes a loud pop sound thru the speakers it only happens in while in Atmos. From what I read this is happing on all Dn1080 receivers and Sony support is no help

I use this receiver primarily for movies and television. I have the receiver connected to a 5.1 system with in wall speakers. The setup was simple. The system provided speaker detection/adjustment worked easily, though I did need to adjust a couple of my speakers from the detected large size to the small size. Overall, this receiver is providing much better sound separation than my prior receiver and I am very happy.

Cons: needs a more user-addressable option menu. It would be far easier to configure the sound with an equalizer. This replaced a Sony STR-DE 898 for me so I could get my Apple TV sound though the receiver. I run sat/sub 2.0. If they just included more user-defined settings, it would get 5 stars from me. It took a look of scrolling through menus and testing to get the sound to where I had it with the prior receiver.
