This is a great receiver, what a difference it makes

Relatively easy to set up and provides great sound

Exceptional receiver. Easy to setup. Great sound. Only problem the Home Screen sometimes goes blank. Unplugging and plugging the receiver normally gets it working. This has been an issue that Sony knows for sometime but has done nothing about it.

I’ve always been hesitant with Sony audio products because i’ve never had a great experience with them - something always goes wrong. Well, i purchased this based off of a CNET review and other online reviews and at first i was very happy - great features for the price. But.. then the hardware issue started - the HMDI out connector started to flake - no more signal. I tested the HDMI cables directly with my tv and no issues - so the issue was the HDMI out from. my receiver. Granted this is two years in but still.. 2 years!?!?! that seems a bit short in a lifespan for tech. So.. again, got burned by Sony audio product. wont be going back - gonna look at other manufacturers.

Easy to connect to existing equipment, love the on screen display during setup. Would have given 5 stars but I was a little disappointed with the volume, when listening to music, i have a pair of NHT towers & rear ceiling mount speakers. Disappointed I hit max at 75 on the volume, could go further, but thats the max for this unit. Would recommend to a friend.

I really wanted to like this receiver, but found following issues after 2 weeks of extensive usage, 1. hi res play back is capped to 16 bit pcm/flac 24 bit media files will not play using the usb media control available in the receiver. 2. tv screen blacks out while stream video 3. unit randomly turns off while in use and have to turn back on again 4, remote feels cheap and controls some times jumps ahead while navigating. All the firmware is updated and speakers were calibrated to room size. this receiver is ok for movies and not for music. looks like sony wanted to pack lot of features in a tight budget, and not concentrated on their premium finish and functions. I am a long time sony fan and I am not quite happy how this receiver is responding to my needs i will invest more and better upgrade to marantz or denon for my needs.

Sound good, but some difficulty setting it up on own.

I know the Sony has the power and you are able to hook up a lot of speakers and 2 sub offers with it but it was not very easy to use compared to the Pioneer elite. I took it back because of this reason and the remote was dead on arrival

This replaced a 1040 and it is twice as good as the 1040.

It was easy to set up. To me it sounds very clear and clean.

I ordered this item from Best Buy and they had it to my door within 11 hours (impressive). Once I hooked up, I discovered it would not work. I reset the item and tried multiple troubleshooting procedures. After reading some reviews, and consulting Sony’s website for assistance, I determined that it needed to be returned. Best Buy exchanges it without issue. The new unit worked great for two weeks. The display function quit working. I have returned the second unit to exchange for another brand. Sony needs to get this one figured out. They have a really nice set up process and was great while it worked. I’m disappointed because I really wanted to own the Sony.

I got this as a major upgrade from an older model. This has Bluetooth receiver to stream audio from a your smartphone or tablet. Also has WiFi (haven’t tried it yet. I mainly upgraded for the 4K pass through. The subwoofer output is not powered. It’s a pre out only. No problems so far.
