Customers are saying
Customers often highlight the excellent sound quality, ease of use, and Dolby Atmos capabilities of the 1155W 7.2-Ch. A/V Home Theater Receiver. Many also appreciate the receiver's power and straightforward setup process. While some users noted the unit can get warm during operation and that the menu system could be improved, the positive feedback on sound and ease of use outweighs these concerns for most buyers. The price point is also frequently cited as a positive aspect.

Sony 7.1 receiver
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was planning on buying a sound bar. But decided to go this route instead. This, matched with sony speakers, sounds awesome. Only bought one subwoofer, but has the bass I wanted. If I want more bass I just turn it up on the other speakers.

Great Product
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have purchased Sony receivers for over 45 years. This unit follows all previous as it delivers great performance and features. Just wish they would include more analog inputs and outputs for us older customers who still have and use this equipment,

Not worth it?
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not sure why my spouse felt this unit was needed as there are less expensive ones. It just caught his eye in a review of the top five that showed this as number two. All the others were Dennon, and those were all much more.

Good price for receiver with Atmos
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good receiver. Priced a little high, but Best Buy still had best price and all home theaters have gone up in price since the pandemic. Good options, a little confusing on the menus and set up and instructions have not been super clear.

Upgrade
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great receiver. Has everything we were looking for in an upgrade. One item that may be noteworthy, it does not have power outlets built in. Not a huge need but we ran our fans off the old receiver.

Easy setup, but too many annoying problems.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I read several reviews of this receiver before purchasing it and it seemed like a solid choice. It was easy to setup, but once I had it hooked up with HDMI and the CEC function of my TV, I noticed some problems. First, the "Home" menu would come on everytime I turned on the TV, or I changed inputs. I could not find a way to change this in settings. 2nd problem was that everytime I shut off the TV, the receiver would go off (like it should), but after 30 seconds the receiver would click on again and turn the TV back on. It was very frustrating. For this amount of money, there should not be these kind of issues. Only later did I find the 13 pages on the Sony forum discussing these exact problems. I ended up returning this and purchasing a Denon for the same price.

Great A/V Receiver at Great Price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really love this unit. Great price, superb audio (including tuning microphones), and great pass thru 4k HDR. The only thing I dislike is that only two of the HDMI inputs support the highest quality audio.

Nice upgrade
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Replaced an older Sony receiver with the STR-DN1080. Improved HDR pass through. Plays SACD's via HDMI. Adequate power, but does not do well with 4 ohm speakers. Bravia sync is helpful with Sony TV and Bluray player. Very pleased with my purchase.

Let down
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It seems as if there's an elephant in the room that nobody wants to talk about. IF you are using a PS4 or Xbox and it's plugged into the 'GAME' HDMI input, it will not give you a picture. There are multiple forums discussing this and Sony still doesn't have an answer. I have proved tier 1 & 2 wrong and yet they want me to send it in to have the HDMI port swapped out. I purchased another STRDN1080, brand new, out of the box, and the same issue. The sound is great. I use the Bluray on the Xbox and also Netflix. I was intending on utilizing ATMOS and now I can't since the receiver will not display a picture.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded from an older Pioneer to a new Sony and what a difference the technology makes. ||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great product it has a terrible app. The flexibility for whole home audio is great. Not enough options for music apps. Air play works well in smart home. Home kit update would be better.

Nice Receiver
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The item switching works really well. If say you are on tv, and you turn on your Game Console. It will switch to that. Ready to watch tv again, turn off your game console. Would be a 5 star. If only instead of twist mounts for speaker wires were alligator instead.

Great Sound, but HDMI outputs don't work
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This system has great sound and easy to set up, I still can't get any thing to work with the HDMI connections. I still had to get a splitter.

Maybe I just got a dud
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was planning on replacing my Sony STR-DN840 with this Sony model. My reasons for replacing included the dolby atmos support on the new model along with the ability to have 2 HDMI out ports. I have a projector and a TV in the same room so I wanted to be able to leave them both plugged in. This sounded like the perfect solution. After hooking it up, calibrating it, and trying multiple adjustments to individual speaker levels I just could not get this thing to sound right. I would have to turn the AV system up louder than my older model to get an equivalent amount of volume. The center channel no matter what I did was always lower than the left and right channels. I would have to turn the audio up to 27 or 30 just to hear the dialogue but then the sound effects were so loud that it was hard to hear. The sound appeared a lot more flat than the sound did coming from my older model Sony. I also did not like the new interface which while very easy to navigate was difficult to make adjustments to sound. The only way to make adjustments to speakers while playing content is if you used the menu on the front of the receiver. If you try to use the home button to make adjustments, the video stops completely so you have to make your adjustments then switch back to your source to see how the adjustments affected sound quality. It also had a 1 to 2 second delay switching inputs which is not a big deal unless you are trying to calibrate it to sound right. Lastly, when I was using my projector in "zone 2" but using my regular speakers the audio kept skipping every 15 seconds or so. It became very distracting and really annoying. I returned the unit and decided to stick with my old Sony system that sounds great (even without dolby atmos) and I have lived with switching the HDMI cables when I want to use the projector.

Would give it a 5 but
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would give this a 5 if zone 2 would actually play my pool speakers, I tried everything and it just wont. I ened up hooking up pool to the back surround and when I need them turn to 7.1 instead of 5.1.

Posted .Hi cdyshk
We do apologize for the inconvenience. We recommend connecting wired speakers with a nominal impedance of 6 ohms to 16 ohms. Also, only the signal from equipment connected to certain analog input jacks are output through the ZONE 2 OUT of the A/V receiver. The analog inputs vary based on the model. Refer to the manual supplied with your receiver for the exact specifications.

Still learning how to operate it
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Thus far I see the benefit of owning and integrating a receiver into my home theater system. I upgraded from my old Yamaha because of the new technology available in the Sony model, such as Bluetooth. 4K HD, and USB capable outlets.

Great receiver overall.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great receiver overall. The only complaint is that the input for an fm antenna is a small white square and will not accept any antenna that I have tried even one from Sony. So it would be fine if you don't intend to use for fm.
