Excellent audio quality, very straightforward to setup and easy to calibrate (though I have since adjusted levels to my preference through the easy-to-use onscreen menus).

The major drawback i had with this receiver is the dual output. I purchased it to connect a projector and a television. I wanted seamless switching without having to manually disconnect any cables or push any buttons on the receiver. I was very disappointed. When i switch to hdmi 1 or hdmi 2, the signal does not transfer over and it loses signal intermittently. it is almost as if the receiver is trying to send out 2 signals and loses signal as it decides where to send the signal. It is very annoying when watching a movie. Customer service was no help at all and i have been troubleshooting the problem for about a month. There were times that when you would switch to the other hdmi output you would not get a signal and you had to manually turn off the receiver and turn it back on as a way of resetting it. It does have an option to send the signal thru both outputs and i was hoping this would fix the issue and it is the same problem. It has ruined the movie experience completely.

I bought this to replace an aging Sony rx without HDMI support. We don't use surround sound except for movies and some TV. The pass through works great.

Has fantastic Audio for gaming, has a nice easy to use UI, plenty of options for audio setups. Has newer audio codecs.

This has added so much value to our home theatre and is one of the best purchases of the Christmas Holidays for my family

The receiver has a humming sound and stop audio output while watching a YouTube video or Netflix from time to time . When it happens, the display on the receiver would switch to "No Stream" from PCM. There was still no audio after the unit was turned off and then turned back on. I have to turn both TV and the receiver off and then turn both of them on before getting the audio again. I sent the unit to Best Geek Squad and then to United Radio (the warranty repair for Sony). Neither time the repair took care the problem. Out of desperation, I paid the Geek Squad to check my connections and connect the unit with my TCL 65" Roku TV. The problem still exits. Mike from Geek Squad suspected there may be some problems within the receiver but could not identify the problem. He suggested for me to contact Sony Warranty department and request a technician to come to my house to check the unit out. I called Sony Warranty department. They claimed that the warranty is now void because Best Buy service center opened the receiver before. Yet when I contacted United Radio the first time, United Radio performed the tests ( although not finding the problem) and treated this as the warranty service knowing that Best Buy has done similar tests before. Sony now wants me to send the unit to a non-warranty service center and I have to be responsible for the cost. This is outrageous as they would not honor their warranty service. I bought the unit only 4 months ago and I find the receiver is so unstable and unreliable and I could not receive any support from Sony. I will never buy from Sony again.

Much more user friendly than my previous Denon, and it had all the things I was looking for (4K pass-through, chromecast, etc.) for reasonable price...

great receiver for home theater. I upgraded from previous model due to water damage and have been satisfied thus far with its performance.

I’ve had this for about a month. Works as expected. Only frustration is trying to figure out how to adjust settings. The manual is less than helpful. Otherwise, no complaints.

Hooked this up to a boss system that was in a house I bought. It works great and did everything I needed it to do including running my DVD player and satellite to my tv.

This looks like the perfect match with our new Sony Master A9G TV. The Bravia link works great and allow the TV remote to work almost everything.

After connecting all the speakers, I was up and running in minutes. The auto calibration was quick and easy. I recommend using quality speakers for this receiver.

I had an older Sony amp that served me well but wanted blue tooth and WiFi connection also 4K pass through This amp does that and more Very good

Great system, a little difficult to set up but Sony support was excellent when I got them on the phone.

I know reviews rate this receiver pretty highly. My star average is due to buying it open-box in what was described as 'excellent' condition. It was missing a remote, so I returned it. Then, I decided I don't really have the space or spouse-approval (ha ha) for Atmos and opted for a 5.1 Sony with 4K HDR passthrough and couldn't be happier.

My pioneer receiver started smoking, and this one was the best value for the dollar, and the best future-proof at the price point available.

This theater receiver has definitely enhanced my theater system and I am definitely satisfied and happy with this purchase!

This is my first Sony AV purchase,it replaced the last Denon I'll own. My entire system finally works like I always hoped it would.
