Customers are saying
Customers often highlight the excellent sound quality, ease of use, and Dolby Atmos capabilities of the 1155W 7.2-Ch. A/V Home Theater Receiver. Many also appreciate the receiver's power and straightforward setup process. While some users noted the unit can get warm during operation and that the menu system could be improved, the positive feedback on sound and ease of use outweighs these concerns for most buyers. The price point is also frequently cited as a positive aspect.

Dont waste your money
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I thought I would "upgrade" from my Onkyo receiver and buy this Sony. Boy was I wrong. Installed it, did all updates, set up my speaker configuration and half the time the audio keeps cutting out. Now the remote lags so bad that you just want to throw the thing out the window. I have replaced the batteries with fresh new ones, no help. Have to hit the buttons 5-6 times and then hope it works. Bought it for Black Friday on sale and now I see why its on sale. Going back ASAP and returning this piece of junk. I will gladly pay more for the Onkyo equivalent. STAY AWAY FROM THIS JUNK!!!!

Its okay
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Its okay. Bought on sale for $399.99. There are better receivers for the money. I would not purchase again. User options are very limited. For what it is, it should be in the 200-300 range.

$600 disappointment
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't know what happened, Sony usually doesn't have any problems. Took the receiver home hooked it up, played a cd, then it shut itself off after 38 minutes, wondered what's up, felt the the top of receiver and it was hot, very hot. Unhooked it and took it back to Best Buy with no problems, but was afraid to get another one. Very disappointed!

unreliable product
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.if it was possible, I would rate this with ZERO Stars. this product has a major flaw. I bought one, connected a 25ft HDMI cable to connect my TV, there was no playback that reached the TV. I returned the product to Best Buy, and bought another one. This one worked for a few weeks. Now, suddenly the playback over the same 25ft HDMI cable stopped. When I place a small TV next to the player, connect with a short length HDMI cable, the playback works fine.

Excellent quality
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My feeling is, with a product like this, you really can't go wrong with Sony. This is what Sony does, and they continue to do it well. The sound quality and features are excellent. I love the built-in Chromecast that lets me stream music. I listen to music on headphones at work most of the day (nothing fancy). It's kind of shocking to come home and hear the difference between this and my headphones. Not an apples to apples comparison, but still left me feeling like I'm missing out on my music most of the day! I don't have a lot of experience with this type of product, so everything was new to me. The ease of set-up and use were definitely positive things for me as well. I've had some issues with other products from other companies that I found frustrating. I feel like these days it shouldn't be that difficult to set-up new tech. An overall awesome product that I think we'll be able to enjoy for a long time!

Not recommended
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was told after buying this unit that several people I know have had issues with the selection of different devices. Sometimes they fail to work at all from different devices that have an input. Even with the firewire connected you still have to have each device selected within the unit to get sound, even then you get no sound and have to cut the system off and turn it back on so it will reset. AVOID

Yeah, order online says "pick up in store today."
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So, I go to pick up my order. It isn't ready for three days, but it's prepaid. I can't have my items from in stock inventory because they ordered my items from elsewhere. I saw my items on the shelf!, but if I buy off the shelf I must pay for both orders. As I understand "Pick up in store today" it pretty much means - today! The products are good, the follow through, not so much.

Works Great and Sounds Great
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This unit replaced my decade old receiver. One of the things I really wanted, no, needed, was bluetooth capability so I could use my wireless headphones. The second thing I wanted was the ability to play my streaming music, preferably from my provider, Spotify. In this receiver I got that and more! Now the first thing I'll tell you up front is that you HAVE to be able to hook up your TV to the receiver through HDMI. Without this connection it seemed virtually impossible to do any kind of setup. Coming from an old generation system, this was pretty shocking and I wasn't prepared for that kind of connection. To be clear, you will want to connect your cable box or satellite via HDMI to the receiver and then an HDMI cable from the receiver to your TV. So make sure you have at least 2 HDMI cables ready to go. Let me cut to the chase. Does the receiver sound good? Answer, yes! I'm using decade old tiny Bose cube speakers (which are awesome) if it makes any difference. What I notice the most when watching a movie or TV show is the dialog. It comes through nice and clear. I used to have to boost the Center speaker to allow the dialog to cut through the soundtrack. That's not an issue with this receiver. Listening to music is also very enjoyable. The unit has more than enough volume for my 15' x 20' living room. One of the things I liked the most about the setup of the system is the auto calibration. It totally worked. I placed the included microphone about 11 feet from the receiver and told it to calibrate. It nailed every one of my 6 speakers in terms of distance. It then automatically increased the Db level of each speaker to compensate for it's location to my listening position. The only one I had a disagreement with was the subwoofer. It kicked it down 7Db. I manually went in and corrected that. I don't know why it thought less Bass was good but I want some rumble. Like many modern receivers, there are a LOT of options and some are not totally obvious as to what they do or why you'd use them. It took me a good 8+ hours to wade my way through the various choices and try to wrap my head around what they controlled. Now that I've got a fair idea of what's what, in reality there is not a huge amount of tinkering you can do with the settings. It just looked overwhelming to start with. You more or less have about a dozen different "one button push" options when it comes to configuring the sound. The remote control looked pretty simple which was a concern given that my old receiver's control had a ton of buttons. In reality they pretty much gave you all you needed. Again, it is important that your TV be hooked to the receiver to see the options. The bluetooth functionality to hook to my wireless headphones went very smoothly. There is a button on the remote as well as the receiver that turns the Bluetooth on. Turn on your headphones, get them paired, done. The WiFi setup was totally painless. Because Chromecast is built-in and I have Spotify, I was able to open Spotify on my phone and immediately send it to the receiver. Very sweet. I have a Google Home device and I was looking forward to using it to play music via voice. That was a bit of a let down. After 2 hours of trying, searching and pain, I contacted Google. We successfully got Play Music to be sent to the receiver via voice command but when Spotify was the provider, Home gave an error. Google then said it's a known problem. So for now voice is only good for Google Play Music. PS. If you don't already own banana clips for your speakers, get some! Boy, that sure makes setup so much easier. Glad I did that years ago.

Sony Receiver Defective
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Terrible experience with this receiver. Purchase a whole theater room with projectors, speakers, etc. The receiver was defective out of the box and would not project audio or video. Had my brand new theater equipment installed but couldn't hear anything. Replaced it with a Denon instead and am loving the experience.

Keeps shutting down
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Receiver keeps going into “protector” mode with volume not at high level (less than 20). Speakers meet minimum ohm and proper ventilation but still does it. Many other reviews said they had same issue. Not worth the price...returning for a different receiver.

Posted .Hi PB2000,
We do apologize for the inconvenience. The PROTECT and PUSH POWER messages will flash alternately when the protective device of the amplifier has been activated because a strong signal was input, or if there is a short-circuit detected. To resolve the issue, turn the amplifier off and leave it off for at least 30 minutes. If the issue continues to occur after the unit is turned back on, check the speaker cables to eliminate the short-circuit problem.
NOTE: It may be necessary to replace the speaker cables to resolve the issue.
If it doesn't work, we are more than happy to help you out. Please email us at [email protected] with the following details:
