It's not stellar sound but not bad for a tiny package. I also love the Bluetooth a d optical connections and wireless sub. I use it for my PC and am amazed more people don't use it for this configuration. It sounds good, especially compared to "computer speakers" and hides away nicely behind the monitor.

I was trying to find a sound bar that would fit on a small shelf connected below my TV wall mount in my bedroom. I was having difficulty finding anything and the sales people weren’t helpful. I found this in a display area but the controller for that area was not working so I couldn’t listen to the TV it was connected to. I figured out how to connect my phone to it and tried it in the store and it sounded pretty good but so hard to tell in a large store what the sound is really going to be like. I got home, opened the box and installed it in just a few minutes. This is pretty impressive sound for such a small sound bar and the wireless subwoofer slid perfectly next to my night table and connected automatically. I am really glad I found this unit as it is perfect for my bedroom.

Bar Speaker Subwoofer Remote Control with x2 AAA Batteries Optical Digital Cable AC Adapter Ac Power Cord (mains lead) Speaker Pad for the Subwoofer (x4) Startup Guide Operating Instructions Product Registration Sheet Warranty Sheet Setup/Testing/Conclusion No fingerprints yay! The material that Sony used on this soundbar is quite nice. The design of it also fits perfectly with my entertainment setup at home. The setup of the Sony HT-MT300 was extremely simple. Without looking at the setup instructions (although I’d advise you to if it's your first time setting up a soundbar), I was able to get everything plugged in and up and running within minutes. Another recommendation is that if you’re planning on setting up the subwoofer underneath your couch; I would look at the instructions. The subwoofer can be placed either vertically or you could use the speaker pads that are included to have the subwoofer be placed horizontally. The whole system itself is definitely compact and a lot smaller compared to the LG soundbar I had previously. But ladies and gentlemen... DO NOT be fooled by its size! Sony again delivers a quality product to its electronics line. It performs well and the sound quality is excellent. I tested out the Bluetooth pairing and it was also easy to do. I love the fact that there were no sound skipping/stuttering at all in playing music with this soundbar. The difference I had was that the LG soundbar would ALWAYS skip music, even when my phone was right next to the soundbar… I did not experience that with the Sony HT-MT300. The Sony HT-MT300 has a couple of sound functions to choose from like music, movie, clear audio+, Dolby DRC function, voice, and night. It doesn’t seem to have as many as the LG soundbar I had but Sony has done an impressive job on getting the ones programmed “fine tuned”. I was able to play some music and test the difference out between selecting the sound functions of music versus movie (which it actually sounded better on the music setting of course). Then I went around and tested the difference by watching a movie and selecting the sound setting of movie versus music. The point I am trying to make is that sometimes those sound features don’t really make a difference; with the Sony HT-MT300 it did. Now comes the cons of the product; of course these are my opinions but I feel like I would need to share them with you. I personally feel like the Sony HT-MT300 is lacking a built-in digital display screen. Let me explain why. When you change your volume, or subwoofer level, or sound function; wouldn’t you want to know how high, how low, or if the setting you're changing is on or off? Because it doesn’t have a built-in digital display screen and doesn’t show on my TV what is going on when I am changing the settings on the soundbar; it can get a little frustrating. Even when changing sound functions by holding down a button on the remote, you would need to reference the operating instructions every time to make sure you’re doing it correctly and if it's on or off. Then you’re like wait.... Can’t you just use the APP (SongPal) that Sony has to offer? I downloaded the APP to try and resolve this “con” I had on the product. While it did show certain things being changed like the subwoofer level and what sound settings are on/off; I had huge issue(s) with the APP itself. When adjusting the volume on the remote for the soundbar and my iPhone had the APP installed and paired; it would also adjust the volume and ringer volume on my phone. I even tried closing out the APP on the phone but it still linked up and adjusted the volume on my phone when I was adjusting the volume on the remote for the soundbar. This made it extremely inconvenient because the only way around this is that I would have to disable my Bluetooth in order for it to stop syncing up with the soundbar. I keep my Bluetooth enabled because I have things like a Fit-bit that is always tracking everything I do and syncing and transferring data to my phone. The only other issue I had with the soundbar is the volume. Again since I couldn’t distinguish what my volume was; I didn’t know how loud my volume was. When switching between streaming T.V. on my Roku, Netflix, and streaming a movie from my phone; the volume was different between all of them. What I mean by that is I was watching T.V. with my Roku and decided to try out a movie and the volume was SO MUCH LOUDER when switching from T.V. to a movie; I literally scared my pregnant wife and she jumped up off the couch. I would also like to mention that I saw another review that someone stated the sound was out of sync when watching a movie on Netflix; I personally did not experience this at all. In conclusion, I would definitely recommend this product if you’re on the market looking for a soundbar to go with your T.V. I personally feel like the pros I had with the Sony HT-MT300 outweigh the cons. The sound quality on this thing is amazing and it adds a nice punch when you’re watching an action movie. Even if you’re just streaming music it sounds excellent. If you have guest over; they will be wowed. Compared to the LG soundbar I had; the Sony HT-MT300 definitely performs better. The only thing I wish is that Sony would’ve added a built-in digital display screen. If that built-in digital display screen was there; this product would’ve gotten a 5 out of 5 or a 10 out of 10 from me personally.

Good product for price, sub unit fits under couch and sound bar works great with build in cabinet. Sound is good and helps you to watch/hear from a flat TV. Projects sound forward and not backwards like the flat TV did. Got it a great price.

Review Date: 5-4-2017 The setup for the Sony 2.1CH COMPACT SOUNDBAR WITH BLUETOOTH® TECHNOLOGY is easy for people who have ever connected soundbars before. If you haven’t, there are very easy to understand diagrams of how to plug everything in. I only needed to use two cables to the soundbar itself, an optical cable and the power supply cable (both detachable and included). The only other non-detachable cable that comes in the box is attached to the subwoofer and that is a power supply. One of the features of this bluetooth speaker is the ability to put the subwoofer under furniture such as a sofa (or in my case, a bed). You have to change some settings for this to work adequately using the provided instructions in the manual. That section of the manual is highly recommended that you save, in case you change the location of your subwoofer. I’m sure the documents are available online in case you misplace them, though. The performance of this bluetooth speaker is, without a doubt, one of the best I have tried. I own 2 other soundbars and this one gets surprisingly loud compared to the other two. I say it is surprising because in terms of length, it is much shorter than the ones I currently own. Yet even though it is short, the booming sound of the sound bar with the included subwoofer makes any room in the house feel like a theatre. If your concern is it being too loud, then there is a nocturnal option which reduces the necessary levels so that it’s still pleasant to hear without being too loud. This soundbar meets my expectations but there is one minor drawback that I find slightly lacking and that is the fact that the sound bar doesn’t have any display of any kind. Another brand of comparable price that I own does have an LCD display. On the Sony one (the one I am reviewing), you have to memorize the functions you are doing based on the number of blinking lights that its control causes it to do. It won’t be a big problem for most people, and it won’t be a big problem for me either, as after the initial settings, I don’t plan on messing around much with the soundbar other than to higher or lower the volume. The price for the speaker in terms of value is reasonable if your reason for buying its ease of use. This soundbar will be replacing my living room soundbar as the primary use for the family. The simple interface of the remote makes it easy for any family member to use without getting confused. I highly recommend this product for people who want a soundbar that occupies minimum space as the size of the soundbar itself (50 cm/19.7in) and the subwoofer (9.5cm/3.74 in) make it ideal for that. Another reason to buy it is it’s ease of installation and use.

Setup: Setting up this Sony Soundbar System was quite simple. However, I did need to do some reading about the various settings available and how to change them. There is no display on the soundbar to show what setting it is on, but that can be viewed in the “SongPal” mobile app. Design: I am impressed with the sleek design, which does not seem to compromise sound quality, which I elaborate on below. My favorite part about the design is that the subwoofer is wireless and can be placed upright or laying on its side. This provides placement flexibility, and there is even a “sofa mode” setting that optimizes the bass if you decide to place the subwoofer under a couch. Sound Quality: As I mentioned, I was pleasantly surprised with the high-quality sound that is produced from this compact soundbar system. I have heard better, but this is a great value for the price and the size. This is the smallest soundbar and subwoofer system that I have seen, yet the sound quality is on part with some larger/more expensive systems. Additionally, there are a number of sound settings that allow you to fine tune your audio experience, which is a nice touch. Features: I find myself using the Bluetooth feature quite often to play music. The music fills the room and carries well throughout the main floor of our home. Until now, I frequently used a standalone Bluetooth speaker for my music, but now this Sony soundbar is my go-to speaker because the audio quality is exponentially better. Pairing was simple, and if your phone supports NFC, it is even easier. Verdict: If you do not currently have a soundbar hooked up to your TV, this Sony Soundbar System is a no brainer. It has fantastic sound quality, Bluetooth connectivity, and a sleek design. Although I have heard better soundbar/subwoofer systems, they are much pricier, and I truly believe this is a great value for the price and size.

Setup out the box was easy. Not complicated at all. Plug in all the cords, turn on TV and subwoofer and it works. The instructions with pictures are very helpful. As I turned up the sound to the max and changed the channel throughout, I could here some raspy background noise. The clarity of the sound in treble is a 7 out of 10, could be better. The subwoofer does its job and I'm really impressed at the size and sound. The remote will do a lot of things but it wont turn the sub off. Would be nice to have this added feature instead of manual doing it. The sound affects are easy to change and have a clear difference in sound. They suggest Night for clear sound with low volume at midnight and Voice for clear dialogues. Bluetooth was easy to connect, press the Bluetooth button on the sound bar, open your phone Bluetooth and find HT-MT300 and you're on. I haven't tried the secure link so I wont comment on it. It has power saving mode but not entirely convinced its worth using. it's supposed to go into standby mode if not operated for about 20mins. I will skip this and turn it off if I know I wont be using it. same for my tv, just being smart and not wasting energy mode, hah.

It has a decent sound for something so small and in that price range but doesn't support ARC which means you kind of have to use optical. So no auto power on/off no single remote for volume and mute...you may be able to use an all in one like a harmony remote but i didnt want to replace my remote just for the sound bar. The features are not great but it definitely sounds better than TV speakers and has some presets for audio styles and listening preferences. The sub is surprisingly punchy for its size but won't be shaking the floor during movies by any means.

Generally it’s good quality product, very compact and powerful with very clear sound! However subwoofer is not as good as I expected and sometimes you feel it’s switched off while actually it’s on. Another disappointing issue for Sony the voltage for Amplifier has dual voltage capability 110V/220V with 50Hz/60Hz, but subwoofer is only designed to work with 120V and 60 Hz. That is strange why the same system should have such discrepancy.

If you can get this for sub $150, you will not find a better soundbar system. It is compact and clear. High-highs and punch lows. Only drawback is no HDMI-ARC controls. Purchasing the One For All universal Roku remote is highly recommended to be able to control this device and a TCL Roku TV from one remote.

I was pretty impressed with the sound that came out of such a small system. It’s great for tight spaces. Only thing I dislike about it is that the remote literally has to point directly at the sound bar because it’s not very sensitive. If the subwoofer isn’t turned all the way up, you pretty much have a boom box ha ha ha. For the price I paid though...its worth it

I chose this soundbar because of space limitations. This unit was on sale and sounds good in the store with the manufacturers dedicated sound track that maximizes the capability of the unit. I use this mainly for watching movies and it is far better than the TV audio, but far short of a surround system. Because of the small width of the soundbar there is not enough separation of left and right channels. The wireless subwoofer is adequate and adds some depth, but barely even at the subwoofer's maximum level. Also the wireless distance of the subwoofer from main unit is limited and I had to locate the subwoofer in a visible area of the living room (8ft against wall) and not where I wanted (12ft between couch and end table). I could get it to connect at the couch but it required I pull the subwoofer out in front of the couch and then place it back after it connected. It would hold the connection while in use, but if I turned off the subwoofer and back on it would not connect unless I pulled it back out. There are no controls for Treble, Bass, or equalizer. Watching movies via the TV speakers always causes movie dialog audio sound to be low and I am constantly turning the volume up to hear dialog and back down when other sounds are now too loud. The Sony soundbar has a "Clear Voice" setting that does help with movie dialog without having to adjust the volume, like a center channel. Great feature! The unit can only decode Dolby Digital and PCM, not DTS. The unit has no display window to indicate volume level or other settings like clear voice. You have to watch the blinking lights on top of the soundbar to see what mode is set. This is an inconvenience, but not a deal breaker. There is no HDMI in or out only Optical and analog audio in, therefore you cannot control volume via the TV remote. This is fine for what I use it for. It can play USB MP3 and Bluetooth Android/iPhone which now allows me to have a convenient music source in the living room. If you are limited on space and require a small soundbar to give you better stereo audio, this will do the trick. I cannot recommend this soundbar at the retail price of $350. At this price point it should have HDMI ARC, a display settings window, codec for DTS, better stereo separation/surround sound effect and a better subwoofer. However, at the $200 sale price it's good a buy.

Nice speaker bar, small, low profile, great sound! Very easy set up. Virtually plug & play. Sony products rarely disappoint. I would have given it a 5 if I had more control of the bass level. Sometimes I really want that bass to BUMP. Like when I play certain songs. Overall, worth buying & a fair price.
