Excellent Sound - Bad ARC HDMI Connection

I figured that when looking at sound bars that I should keep the same manufacturer, so that I wouldn't have any compatibility issues. I was wrong. I connected the sound bar through HDMI lead to ARC HDMI port and although the TV recognizes the audio system half the time it does not work very very disappointed. Even Sony help line could not help. So, instead of returning the unit, I decided to connect it through its optical connection. No problems with this connection, but you just don't have an "on screen" indication of the volume level on the tv. Having said that when it does works very pleased with it, loud enough and the subwoofer gives plenty of bass.

Sony soundbar

Today I started getting a crackle sound out of the subwoofer and I turn the sub woofer down and most of it went away. Very easy hookup. found the subwoofer right away

Can't express happiness

Sony put a lot into their soundbars this year and it definitely payed off. Even being a 2.1 system, I can clearly hear vocals without cranking the thing up. The bass is solid and the wi-fi connectivity functions truly make this sound system worth the price. If you can shell out the cash, put it down on this soundbar.
