Disappointed with this soundbar
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently purchased a Sony TV - model KDL48R510C from Best Buy and wanted a soundbar to boost the sound a little. I had intended on purchasing a Vizio or Samsung but allowed the sales associate to talk me into buying this one. I figured Sony to Sony what could go wrong. For one, this soundbar does not have an HDMI in/out, only an optical in. I really wanted an HDMI/ARC system so that everything could be controlled with a single remote. I also read that HDMI to HDMI reduces lag between video and audio. The sales associate insisted that this unit was HDMI/ARC compatible and even asked if I needed a cable to hook it up when I got home. I had doubts that is did but hadn't done research on this unit so I blindly took his word. As I feared the soundbar had a 1/2 second delay which doesn't sound like much but is blatantly noticeable. One would think Sony to Sony would work flawlessly together. Not the case with this. As much as I wanted to keep it because it sounded great and matched my new TV, I returned it. And consequently, even though I am always in favor of supporting the local guy I couldn't in good conscience buy another unit from this store because of the lack of product knowledge causing an unnecessary trip back to Best Buy. In the end, I went with the Samsung HW-K450/ZA which sounds fabulous, has no lip sync issues and work with my Xfinity remote. I purchased it from a big online retailer. Sorry Best Buy, get your facts straight.

Not worth the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My TV is actually louder than the sound bar. I bought this to use while watching sports, not worth the purchase. I found that while using Netflix or bluetooth connection the speaker seems to work louder. But when connected to my tv/cable box the sound was just not as loud as the TV itself. Think I might return this for another option, since I want to listen to live sport action.

Great sound bar for my Sony TV!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to compliment my new 48" Sony Bravia TV. It was easy to setup and integrates nicely with the TV. I like the HDMI ARC interface which allows both devices to work together. In this case, my TV remote controls the entire system (tv and sound bar).

It's just too quiet! Not loud enough
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm extremely disappointed in this speaker. I got this because of the sale price. I always put this speaker up to the MAX volume. It's just simply not loud enough. Whether it's watching movies, tv, or netflix. It's way too quiet. I want it to be louder. It's not as clear either. Don't waste your time and money!

A Mistake.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you want something to replace your TV speakers, this is it. It literally just replaces them. It is not high quality at all, and sounds exactly like those Bluetooth speakers you get at supermarkets in the checkout lane except maybe 5 stringed together. If you turn off the sub-woofer, you'll be even more disappointed. I'm pretty sure it only includes the sub-woofer to trick you, because it will now sound like a tin can. We cannot believe we took these reviews of high praise seriously. Item is an extreme disappointment, and anyone would be better off with a same-price basic 3 speaker system. Our 5.1 system is over 5 years old, single simple speakers, and it sounds immensely better. "Wait, but its 5.1, of course its better!" Well, our wireless back speaker setup broke, so we've just been using the front three, which is smaller, and has less speakers overall than this piece of junk, and still sounds better. I've not been able to get a refund. Good luck, just know you are not getting a quality product!

Constant connection issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the htc790 last summer with a high recommendation from a staff member in store. Since last summmer I was able to easily set it all up and had everything working great. When it was working the sound was great and I had no problem s with the system. But randomly (sometimes mid use) it would randomly stop working. Just no sound. After all the online follow up (terrible support from Sony) and following every step it randomly would work sometimes and not others. The inconcsistency of this'll product is mindblowing. Since last August I think it has not worked more days than it has. I highly DONT recommend this product and would caution any buyer. I even returned it once already and still have the same issues. I am very frustrated with this product.

Sounds great. Died quick
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Device had great sound when it was working. Had it for less than two months and it froze up. Before you buy this sound bar, please go online at search Sony HTCT390 Sound Bar freezing up. I now have to ship it back to Sony.. It's a great sounding device when it works, but there are a ton of problems with this device freezing up. Difficult to set up, low TV volume, doesnt work
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very disappointed with this sound system. I purchased it to compliment my new Sony - XBR X850D Series 75" LED screen. For some reason, the menu for the unit came up in French, so we had to search through the large manual to figure out how to get to English. This is not in the index, so you need to carefully leaf through about 50 pages to find instructions. After making 2 support calls, I finally got the unit working. Then, I found the volume output from the Sound System was not much louder than the TV itself. However, I was able to get a much louder output from syncing to my phone. Unfortunately, the connection was spotty, at times it would connect and other times it would not, while using the same syncing process. On day 2, I sat down to watch TV with my wife and I could not get any audio from the TV to play through the system. Nothing had been changed overnight. I tried everything in the trouble shooting book and gave up after about 1/2 hour. This morning, Day 3, I decided to try again and miraculously the sound worked , although I had not touched a thing. Then the sound cut out for a moment and then came back again....still at a level not much higher than the TV itself. Yes, I have tried to adjust audio output levels on TV etc within TV menus, makes no difference. I think I'm done with this thing and would happily use another brand even if it requires a separate remote control, rather than deal with the nonsense of this unit. I would suggest that anyone thinking about this unit check the Sony support website, as I just did, as I am not the only one having these issues.

Overall good but pass
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great sounding sound bar looks nice and is sleek. The only problem I had was put the box it was very difficult to use with my SONY tv. Now roughly 2 months with it to this day I still have connectivity issues. I've googled all the possible fixes and nothing. I go 2-3 days at a time without using the sound bar until it works one day randomly. So go for something else.

Sound Bar...Wack!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Sony sound bar is no good. It's no better than the tv speakers, but when we watched a movie it was great. The sale guy should let you here it from a TV not his phone. So disappointed, I took mine back to the store.

Waste of Money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned this product for less than 1 year and have had to send it for repairs 3 TIMES due to the Bluetooth not working. This last time Sony finally agreed to replace it but I am getting the same piece of junk from them. Plus a whole 90 days of warranty. So I am receiving what I am told is a new product but only 90 days of coverage. WASTE OF MONEY
