It doesn’t work right
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The bar turns itself up on its own. I set it for a certain volume and it raises up higher. Maybe it’s just this particular one. We had to hire the Geek Squad to come check it out

Posted .Hi Timj, we are sorry to hear what happened. Try resetting the soundbar first to isolate the issue: https://docs.sony.com/release//Manual_4725865132.pdf

You get what you pay for... awesomeness
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Intro It is sleek, tiny but packs big sound. It is very minimalistic and solidly built even though it is mostly made of hard plastic with a metal mesh grille on the front. No buttons but instead it uses a touch panel on the top for power, source, bluetooth and volume control. Perfect for screens smaller than 50” but it will fill space for bigger screens. For a soundbar that measures only 36 5/8”, it does a good job of projecting sound throughout the space especially when the Vertical S is active. I am using this with my 28” computer monitor for both watching and listening to my Apple TV and computer. A second HDMI input would have been a big help with my setup since my monitor doesn’t support ARC (Audio Return Channel). Along with HDMI input and output(ARC), it has analog, optical and USB. Even with the soundbar on stand-by mode, HDMI signals still pass through (you can set this in the HDMI settings). No wifi or ethernet so no media streaming services. It has six sound presets (Cinema, Music, Game, News, Sports and standard). Music sounds awesome and watching sports is more exciting. Movies though, this unit could use a lot more voice. Dialogue can get drowned out compared to soundbars with the center channel for voice. It’s still a huge difference compared to listening to the TV’s speaker. If you watch news and talkshows then the News sound preset is for you because it really focuses on the mid frequencies for voice. This unit supports Dolby DTS:X and Atmos. It only has two speakers but yet it supports Atmos probably because of a feature called Vertical Surround which reproduces vertical audio with the two front speakers. To me it just sounds like the higher frequencies gets magnified a bit to project sounds faster and further and bounce them off walls and ceilings. It does the job though but I would rather have upward firing speakers. On-screen display for configuring speaker, audio, HDMI, Bluetooth and system settings. You can specify distance and level of the soundbar and subwoofer independently. The maximum distance you can set is 33 feet away from your couch or in my case, computer chair. The software/firmware is updatable with the use of a USB flash drive. This is very useful since there is no LCD on the soundbar itself. There are LEDs on the top used as source indicators. The LEDs are also used to indicate volume level and to acknowledge a button press on the remote. It has features for your late night entertaining. Dimmer (Off, Dark, Bright) dims the LED lights on the front top. There’s also a Night function which decreases volume while minimizing loss of fidelity and clarity of dialogue. It basically turns the bass down. The wireless subwoofer is a front facing, front ported design and it does a good job of producing loud pounding bass. You can decrease the sub volume with the remote and if you need to turn it off completely, there’s a power button on the back of the sub. Not all soundbar subs have a power button. It is wall mountable with no need for mounting brackets. It uses two keyholes on the back of the soundbar and all you need to do is screw in two screws on the wall. It does come with a mounting template but not the screws. Pros - On-screen menu - No bulky power bricks - Firmware/software is updatable - Supports 4K HDR Cons - Lack voice with movies - No sound adjustments (bass and treble) - No media streaming services Outro I really love this soundbar. For my intended use, computer and Apple TV on a 28” monitor, it’s oversized but perfect… if that makes any sense. It has the spatial qualities I want and need and I think it is well suited for its price range of $500

Terrible Choice and Sound Quality
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was set to purchase a combination 5.1 Surround & tv for Black Friday, and made the mistake of listening to the associate about this Sound Bar. He guaranteed me that it would separate out the dialog voice so as to not have the full surround going when I chose not to have it. That was not the case. It increases the sound on everything EXCEPT the dialog. That is the only thing it seems to deliberately make quieter. This was a terrible purchase, and I attempted to return it a month later, to which I still had another month to do so, and I was told that I would have to pay extra to exchange for the product I initially wanted even though both were the same price at the time of purchase. I would NEVER recommend this product to anyone that likes good sound quality for their home theater. Yet again Best Buy fails their customer service portion of their business. Months later I still can't hear what is being said, but I can't just buy another soundbar at this time.

Let Down

Not great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this as a gift to go with our new TV. I thought it was ok, but hubs didn’t care for it and took it back. It was too much money to be just ok.

Average at best
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this unit on sale. I would have been disappointed if I had paid full price. Sub woofer isn’t very good. No comparison to a Bose

Not happy with sound
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am less than pleased with the sound quality of this sound bar. At present, I can hear my significantly less priced sound bar on another Sony TV than I can this product. Very disappointed. I am also disappointed that the sales rep did not inform me that I could have either the sound bar OR wireless speakers. I wold have oped for the wireless speakers.

Good audio but...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Soundbar is easy to install and sounds great...only problem is the volume must be controlled from its own remote, which is irritating.

Purchased used/open box, no remote, half price
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sounded great was plenty loud and had plenty of bass but the sound bar had an issue with the volume changing on its own. Example it would go from quiet to blaring on its own. Thats the reason for the low rating, item was probably returned, not checked thoroughly and resold. Returned to store for full refund.

Posted .Hi Salvage, we're sorry to hear that our product failed your expectations. To increase the level of the subwoofer, you can use the remote to increase it 12 steps, and also an additional 6 dB via the onscreen Graphical User Interface. Press the HOME button on your remote, and select Setup. Select Speaker Settings and then Level. There is a test tone you can use to help you dial in the amount of gain you want.
Sony takes into consideration all feedback to improve the performance and quality of our products and services. We're always looking to make Sony better. We appreciate your time sharing this feedback. Thanks!
