    Ho Ho Ho... More like No No No

    It is December 23, I am eighteen years old, and I have no presents under the tree. Although I may be too old for Christmas spirit, I wanted to treat myself. So, I go out to Best Buy and purchase this beautifully packaged Sony Soundbar System before the doors close late that night. Ah, it is a crisp, Christmas Eve morning, and I excitedly awaken at 8 am to set up this highly anticipated sound system as if I were five years old expecting Santa Clause. Since 87% of Best Buy certified reviewers recommend this product, what could go wrong?! Well well well... After powering up the subwoofer and soundbar while connecting the soundbar via HDMI ARC to my 60" Vizio SmartTV, everything was perfect. However, there were tedious adjustments to be made within the TV itself since audio was still coming from TV speakers rather than the sound system. Silly me; just had to enable the CEC function in the Vizio's settings. It only took an hour to figure that out! At this point, my dad came in the room to see what his only son had accomplished for the family's entertainment. When turned up all the way, the sound level was a JOKE. The TV was much louder on its own before this ridiculous Sony unit. My father left the room with disappointment on his face. Determined to figure out what the problem was, I tested the soundbar by connecting my phone through its Bluetooth feature and blasted music effortlessly, and I must admit that it sounded great! It was SO LOUD when the subwoofer was turned to 12 and soundbar to MAX. But when connected to the TV, audio was substantially reduced even though everything was up all the way. At this point, it was almost 11 am and had no other choice but to pack it up for return. When I came back with the receipts, my dad had already left my mom and me, leaving only divorce papers. Thanks, Sony... Merry Christmas... I would NOT recommend this product to my worst enemy. My best guess would be that Sony's Sound Systems are not compatible with other competing brands such as my Vizio. I even had the opportunity to speak to a Sony Representative who happened to be at Best Buy when I returned it (on Christmas Eve). Even he was speechless when I explained my whole predicament. He and I hypothesized that perhaps if you already own a Sony Television, then the two products will have no issues together. Bottom line, do your homework, and do not buy expensive stuff spontaneously. Keep in mind that even the most qualified individuals do not attain solutions for some technical difficulties.

    I replaced my current receiver with this. I like the wireless speaker capability and the Bluetooth to my phone to play music.

    Nice sound when its working. Purchased first one for Christmas, returned for a second one within one month. Six weeks later, problems again. I somehow got the first issue fixed on my own, now its doing it again. Research this model with "please wait," and you will see many threads of angry customers. Spare yourself frustration and go with a different brand.

    1 Star is too much!! A few weeks after I purchased this unit it went bad. I contacted SONY and explained that there was a defect in the device and it wasn't responding. They went thru a few technical troubleshooting steps and finally decided that the unit had to be sent back for testing and maybe replacing.. I got my new replacement unit... and guess what??? 10 moths later it went bad! the first unit was replaced because it was within it's warranty period but the replacement unit... hahaa!! I sound frustrated don't I.. I build computer for a living and troubleshoot software and hardware devices.. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS UNIT.. I'll give you an example... if you turn this unit on and it stays in the "PLEASE STAND BY" mode for too long., if you are unable to access the "HOME" SCREEN guess what?? you're device is NG..... I'd like my money, time and STAR back.. this unit is not worth the aggravation lane it will take you down on...

    Works intermittently, not much louder than TV

    I am a 35 year video professional and either I have a defective unit or I have been fooled by fake reviews on this site. From the beginning I found this unit very difficult to install, took about 90 minutes and 2 calls to a technician to get it working, but volume was not loud. I am using this with a new XBR 75" Sony flatscreen. Volume from my Samsung phone is awesome when it syncs, but that is intermittent. For some reason instructions came up in French, took about 15 minutes to find language setting instructions in the large manual. Had to scan each page since language setting is not in index. Day 2...no sound, gave up and used TV sound. Day 3 sound worked. Day 4 intermittent.sound...thought it might have to do with the order I put on TV and Sound bar, but that was not the case. Day 5 returned unit.

    DO NOT BUY THIS OR KEEP THE BOX IF DO...FRUSTRATED

    Gonna keep this short and sweet. Do not buy this unless you like unhooking all your equipment and mailing it back to United Radio (Sony's warranty contract) for repair (and that's if still under warranty). It's the dread "PLEASE WAIT" menu/display screen that if you google for this product, you will find countless complaints about this. I'm on my second send off as of today. Of course I'm past my time to return for a refund (purchased in November 2016), but I'm also past my time of sending this thing back. It seems like Sony should bite the bullet on this and do some type of "make it right" gesture, but we know that will not likely happen. Overall, when it works, it has amazing sound, the 4K pass through, and etc. I actually love the unit...again, when it works.

    Junk! DO NOT BUY

    I bought this last year because I got a free gift card for a phone upgrade. Well it worked good for a few months and then one day the voice didn't match.. Well I tried to open the menu and fix it and the menu wouldn't come up so I called sony and you have to send it to new York and it's a pain.. Got a NEW A one in February and guess what just happened.. THE EXACT SAME THING .. I'm trying to figure out what to do with this pc of junk so don't buy this.. do a simple goggle search and you'll see there's LOTS of people that had this issue and there's a reason the 800 came out so fast. Sony stop selling this junk and do the right thing and recall!!

    No basis at all. No volume. My Samsung TV gets louder that this sound bar. I tires different connections and nothing helped. Returning it to the store.

    Broke after 2 months and 1 week

    We liked this item. It worked at first. Now it is broken and in warranty however Sony will not just exchange it for a new one. Instead they have me going through a mail program to have it repaired in new york. I have to buy my own supplies to pack it in and ship it to them. This thing is gigantic and the subwoofer will make it very difficult to package. To send it by mail is ridiculous. It's going to cost ME 40 dollars just to wrap it up. Not a happy customer. Stay away from this pile of junk. A very expensive pile of junk at that.

    Not happy with the purchase

    In $500 list price Sony didn't even include optical cable. I was lucky to find one at home but this thing didn't even work with that. No sound no display on the TV. Got frustrated and returning it tomorrow. There are not many input options except optical and HDMI, therefore if you have 5 years or older equipment you will likely have problem connecting to it.
