Sony is always thinking outside the box

I looked at soundbar after sound bar after sound bar and came across this. I got lucky and got an open box. This is PERFECT for my bedroom! The only downside to it is it will do audio streaming but no video streaming except mirroring. hopefully the next one will video stream and have 4K

East setup once figured Digital Optical cable

Connected it today with my 22 yr old son, took 45 minutes because instruction book is for HDMI cable. Remember, for Dig Opt cable, you have to set TV for "external speakers". This is a Sony TV with a Sony soundbar; once connected Dig Opt cable to "powered on" soundbar and then "powered on" TV- the soundbar functioned. The TV found the soundbar. Make sure to turn soundbar volume UP, we initially had volume to low and thought product was defective. Purchased this product because TV speakers were inadequate. This product suits our purpose- 10 by 10 ft room now has great sound and NO external speakers. We now have 2 remotes- soundbar remote to power on and volume control and 2nd remote does other functions for TV viewing

I had zero issues setting this up and my gosh is it amazing. I use it every day as my main audio source from the TV. I love that it's super easy to switch from my TV to my MacBook's Bluetooth if my friends are over and wanna listen to music. Would buy a million times over again it makes watching movies without it a letdown

    Perfect match to my Bravio

So after buying a 65 inch Bravio and not really noticing the sound quality I read some reviews on sound bars. This one was a great match and I couldn't be happier. I did have an issue where the audio stopped working. See "Motechie's" review about the simple fix to this glitch. And thank you to them for including it on how to fix the problem. When the Soundbar was not working for an hour or so, I really appreciated this product. Great price for everything I needed. Cheer So!

    Has some issues

I was pretty pleased with this product when I received it. It is heavy and appears to be well built, and the sound was a significant improvement over my new Sony 850D. Basic setup was fairly simple since I used HDMI and ARC capability. However, advanced setup was very complicated and I still don't have any idea if I am using all of the features. In depth explanation is required unless you are a serious techie. Finally, my soundbar has gone mute on several occasions, and it is a pain to get it operating properly again. Not sure if it is defective yet, but it has been extremely frustrating. I would not buy this product again.

Great design and sound, has quirks

I bought this soundbar specifically for it's physical design, I wanted a soundbar "base" that I could rest my tv and not have it hanging it on the wall or sitting in front of the TV (usually blocking the IR ports). As a plus it has 3 HDMI inputs and one output with ARC so this makes it great for using with multiple input sources like video game consoles, computers, blu-ray players, etc. Also has an optical, analog and bluetooth input but I have not really tested or used these. The remote is small and works great. My only real complaint about the product is the software that handles the audio from the various inputs. Very often I will switch inputs or turn the item on and the image will come through but with no sound. I have to resort to switching inputs and sometimes unplugging the device to get it working normal again. I'm not sure if there is a hardware update that could fix this. It isn't detrimental and the soundbar sounds great when working, but it is a nuisance. Still, for the money, this is an excellent soundbar that would work perfectly in any room.

    Not impressed

Let me start with I bought the sony htxt1(last year's model) and I noticed the htxt2 came out so I bought it also to compare. I played the same set of songs and hands down the htxt1 is a true winner. With great bass (2 subs) and clean loud sound. The htxt2 has only 1 sub and it has poor bass and the other speakers are underpowered and sounds like you are in a hall. Plus you have to turn the htxt2 up almost all the way to 50 match the sound level of the the htxt1 at 25 half volume! Positive - wifi - bluetooth - quality casing NEGATIVE - under powered sub - only 1 sub (htxt1 has 2) - mediocre front speaker sound - tinny and sounds like you are in a hall - have to turn it up almost max to fill the room. Dont mess with the htxt2, buy the HT-XT1

    Looks good but doesn't deliver

My unit may be defective, but the volume is so low that this unit is useless. I have to max out the volume and it's barely audible. I'm comecting via HDMI to a Sony XBR49X800E. The HDMI ARC connection with the included cable is finnicky- I had to restart the unit twice because I received no sound from the unit. Again, I really wanted to like this unit because of its smart looks and wireless capabilities, but when the meager internal tv speakers are louder, what's the point?

Power Protect Failure after 1.5 years

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The unit sounds average for a sound bar, but still much better than the built-in speakers of the HDTV. The problem is that the unit is now COMPLETELY DEAD after 1.5 years. Since it is out of warranty, I would have to pay to have it repaired. It scrolls a "POWER PROTECT" error, and will not work. The Sony website says to unplug it and wait 30 minutes. The error repeats. DO NOT BUY! It fails with an error that is supposed to protect it from low impedance connections or high input surges? Really? It has built-in speakers, and I had it connected with an optical cable! It was also protected with an AC surge absorbing power strip. NOT RECOMMENDED.
