The Little Speaker that COULD!

It was almost most plug and play! I was able to do it with ease with clear instructions Sony provided. Any answers to questions are readily available online with Sony. The soundbar may be small but it packs a pretty good punch. Sound quality is much better than the TV speakers, which is something you can't say for all sound bars at this price point. I can hear voices clearly. Really enjoy the one touch audio settings on the remote. Set it on night mode to turn down the bass when the kids go to bed or set it on cinema and feel like you’re in a theater! The compact size of the bar makes it nice so no bulky equipment to arrange and or potentially fall over. This bar would work in any room in the house. This is decent soundbar in a crowded market. The price point is good but is definitely a great buy if you can get it on sale!

Decent sound for its size
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I paired this soundbar with a 32” Panasonic TV so the relative small size (23” length) was perfect for the TV aesthetically. But more importantly, did the soundbar improve the sound quality when compared to the small 10W per channel TV speaker. To this point, I have to admit that I am not an audiophile and a bit tone depth so can’t tell you whether the sound coming out of the soundbar is acoustically correct or not but I can say that it is less tinny than the TV speaker and the “voice” feature does seem to make voices a bit clearer. However, the surround sound feature seems to have a less expansive soundstage than what the TV can produce when simulating 3D surround sound. It should be noted that the built-in bass speaker is only about 2.5” in diameter so don’t expect heart-thumping bass coming out of the soundbar. The soundbar allows you to minimally adjust the bass level up/down one level but frankly speaking, I couldn’t hear or feel the difference when toggling to more bass. I watched Saving Private Ryan using the soundbar and although the sound is fuller and more vibrant than the TV speakers, the bass was lacking. In summary, if you are looking to improve the sound of your TV then this soundbar is worth a look for the price but if you are seeking or expecting sound reproduction of a high-end home theater system then this soundbar will disappoint you.

The store display setup indicated a noticeable difference in sound quality (though the volume settings were not available for either the TV nor the soundbar). At home, the soundbar does not add much difference to sound quality, compared to the TV speakers. Easy integration with Sony TVs and remotes.

Standard Mode - This will allow you to hear the sound of a TV program clearly.
Cinema - This mode is suitable for watching movies. You feel immersed by the sound that travels behind you and surrounds your entire body
Music - Vividness, and glossiness of the sound are expressed in detail. This mode is suitable for enjoying music in a way that moves you
You can also use AUTO SOUND mode which will change the Sound Mode from Standard, Cinema, and Music based on the content played.
Also, updating the software of the unit (version 1.12) will help improve the overall performance of the soundbar.

I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to set up and set custom sounds to best fit the space you are using it in. I was looking for a surround type soundbar option that would work for our space, which many options did not work for due to the layout of our living area. This soundbar from Sony worked where others were just too bulky, or had too many wires or a complicated set up. The settings allow you to change the spectrum to fit what your audio and or video profile need. The settings for movies and music are getting heavy use. It will play music from whatever bluetooth device you use from laptops, phones or the old ipod. Great sound, great price, easy set up. Highly recommend!

When the volume was up and only when certain voices would come on the speaker would make a rattling sound. I took it back and opted for a Bose sound bar at twice the price but I am very satisfied.

I am normally skeptical of soundbars or small speakers with integrated subwoofers. This unit was easy to set up, very compact, and looks nice with any decor. I was pleasantly surprised by the sound. It does not have room shattering bass, but I was not expecting it. What it does offer is surprisingly crisp vocals, clear music, and enough bass to keep most people happy. For the size and price, it can't be beat. Cabling is simple, the remote has plenty of functionality, and it is very easy to pair to bluetooth. It is seamless to watch a movie, and then switch over to bluetooth input. For a small to medium room, it is a great option for clear audio without taking up too much space.
