This Sony sound bar delivers much better rounded and fuller sound than the TV did. I would not recommend them for home theater or a very large room, but for our purposes, this works well.

Decent sound bar, at a decent price

Obviously, if you are looking for top of the line, you’ll want something pricier. I tested this back to back against just the TV speakers as well as vs a Samsung sound bar I have with an external subwoofer. I was surprised that the built in subwoofer of this speaker actually did better than the external one from the other bar. Neither is fantastic, but this one did give some depth to the overall sound. The best feature of this was clarity. Sounds, particularly voices, were more on clear on this bar than either of the other two options. The biggest oversight to this bar is lack of any display. If you want to use some of the specific features, like IR pass through, you will need to look at the manual as some features are not intuitive. All in all, I am fine without a display, but I know some people that this would be a deal breaker for.

It’s not what I was expecting, I wish it could be louder. But the sound quality when watching a movie was really good. I would get this if you have a small home and a regular size tv I would recommend this.

Sony 2.1-Channel Soundbar

This soundbar adds a little bass to the audio output but excels with the mid range for which I was having trouble hearing clearly. The music through the soundbar is really nice but it’s the “boost” to the dialogue that makes this improvement a great addition to my TV. The room with the TV is not real big, so the soundbar audio improvement was easy to discern. If your TV viewing room is medium to large then I would recommend a larger soundbar system. It was very easy to install - a connection to the one cable HDMI ARC connection on the TV and I was enjoying the enhanced sound. The soundbar is controlled with either the TV remote or the small remote control device that comes with the soundbar. So for my small to mid size TV Room this soundbar works very well.

Low expectations, but pleasantly surprised

I have an expensive home theater setup in the living room for watching movies and listening to music that cost me thousands just for the speakers. I added a little wall mounted XBR43 to my office and was tired of the tinny sound so I picked up this little guy. The highs are clear and bright, mids are great, and even the lows are quite decent. Does not hit the low 20-40hz range obviously, but it sounds much louder than you'd expect for a 2.5 inch "subwoofer". All in all, for ~$150, this soundbar has a great design, and pretty decent sound reproduction. The only thing that I don't like about it is the "Bravia Sync" with the XBR43. It was not as easy as I expected to setup. HDMI-CEC/ARC has come a long way, but for some reason Bravia Sync is confusing to use.

I’ve always been a fan of Sony products and this one will not disappoint. Unlike others that have a separate wireless bass unit, this one is built into the soundbar.
