Great if someone in the store knew how to answer a few set up questions. That includes the person who sold it to me and the geek squad. You need new geeks at your CANOGA PARK store. Terrible follow up service after initial purchase. Once item was purchased they couldn't care less about me or if the product functioned as described.

I bought this bar to replace and old 5 speaker system and I am blown away by the quality. Movie theater quality here. No more wires everywhere and better surround sound that the 5 speaker system. Wireless subwoofer is great. HDMI pass though great to enhance the sound on Blu Ray, and gaem systems.

    Good sound, poor execution

I reviewed many soundbar/subwoofer/speaker combinations and researched this one a lot. I even met with a sony rep at the best buy store I bought this from. This soundbar puts out good sound but the execution of its app (SongPal) and overall the way it works is really pretty bad. I chose Sony because I thought it's sound would be better than other brands such as LG but a better price than Sonos. I am no audiophile or movie watcher, I just want to be able to easily play music when I have guests, clean the house, or watch sports. This product CAN NOT do that consistently. - For the speaker to play spotify, you have to have spotify premium. - For the speaker to play what is on tv, you have to have an additional fiber optic cable. After getting spotify working and into the speaker, it just stopped playing it several times. There was no loss of wifi or bluetooth at all - it just stops playing. I am technically savvy (software developer) but there is really no answer for what happens when it just stops playing music. I then try to reconnect via SongPal, about 10 times, and the speakers would not play anything (itunes, spotify, google play music, youtube - I tried them all). If you want to buy this product I suggest that you have someone professionally install it and teach you how to use it. Because overall it is a mystery and the application is bad, the execution is worse, and I am looking at a way to return it.

Not what I was looking for

I hate to be the guy to bring down the score. My experience with this sound bar was good. The setup was easy, had it up and running in less than an hour. The sound bar looked good and seemed high quality built. The first test was with the TV. Not bad. Was I wowed? Not really. Sounded a little tiny. The football game was on. There were things in the sound that caused the subwoofer to activate with a low rumble. That was cool. The second test was MUSIC. My wife and I listen to classical music either streamed or a CD. The sound bar did both flawlessly, except... it sounded tiny. There were some low tones at times. I then had the desire to adjust the treble, the midtones, and the bass. Guess what, YOU CAN'T. There are presets you can choose, but you cannot adjust these individually. Could not find a preset that satisfied my desire. It all sounded tiny, thin, no middle. When it got loud, like lots of brass, it suddenly muffled out. For $800, I really expected to be wowed and I wasn't. I returned it and bought the BOSE SoundTouch 120. More money, but now I am happy. That sounded great. Firebird by Stravinsky brought tears to my eyes.

Very simple and easy setup. Sounds so amazing. Paired it with Sony KDL65w850c and is an amazing set. I know they are discontinuing this for the new NTNT5 but this is way nicer if you are hanging on the wall. So thin and narrow that it sits on the wall real nice with new super thin tv.

This soundbar is awesome! I got this on a fantastic deal with a Sony TV and I am glad I did. I replaced the TV for Samsung but chose to keep the soundbar as I was so happy with it. The sound and the subwoofer are very crisp and the base on subwoofer is awesome!! I feel fully immersed into whatever I am watching. Great buy! I would say its worth the high price tag without the deal.

    Sound cuts out

I really liked this sound bar, sound is good and I found it easy to setup. I've had the bar for almost 2 months and I have noticed that the sound cuts out for less than a second about every 10 minutes. It's annoying and I hope I can get it replaced under warranty. If not for the sound issue I would rate 5 star. Hopefully it will get fixed and I can change my review.

Best of the bunch at this price level

I bought the nt3 package after considering several different products in the $700 -$900 range. I went to Best Buy and luckily they had most all the units I was interested in already hooked up and ready to demo. For music, there's no comparison, the nt3 blew the comp away. The detail in the music was like listening to system with massive tower speakers. With movies, it didn't disappoint either. The sub really kicks hard and it seems a bit more "lively" than the other subs. I bought the unit and never looked back. the only complaint I have it that it would be nice if Sony implemented a high-pass / low-pass for watching movies. Sometimes the lower frequencies of voices in a motion picture gets sent to the sub and it makes the voice sound boomy. Because of this, I typically will set the sub level at 9 and crank up on the volume a little. Other than that, excellent choice. The nt3 is phenomenal!!

Did not meet my minimum expectation for the price

After a careful and reasonable length of time to evaluate the quality and performance of the soundbar I am disappointed. I believe the sound production should be better given the price and reputation of Sony. The TV used for this application was a Sony 65" 4k and set up by Best Buy. I sent the soundbar in to be tested by United Radio and they ran their in-house diagnostics. General viewing and recordings do not sound any better than the TV speakers. I would have thought that sound production for standard HDTV viewing would have been immensely better. I have used the sound bar with Pandora and playing other movie recordings and the sound was satisfactory. I must remind myself that the settings for the soundbar were in the high end of the sound setting. All my applications were via HDMI cables installed by Best Buy and no optical cable connection was employed. Under the direction of a Sony Technician I also tested the soundbar on identical TV in another room and the results were the same. Perhaps the wireless provider may in some way degrade the broadcast sound production or an speaker system with an amplifier would be better. I do know this that the sound did not meet expectation and value of the soundbar when used with a compatible TV has been a disappointment.

Got a deal on it for $399 close out since last year model. Took it home and it didn't sound $400 better than my $200 LG soundbar I got last year. Returned it and sticking with the LG. Had I not had the LG one already , I would have kept the Sony.

We've had some issues with the sound bar and apparently we need to get it online in order to get the software upgrades, but until then... it's inconsistent and can sound weird sometimes.

    Worst Customer Service EVER

In theory this should connect to my Sony Bravia TV using HDMI ARC and everything talks together.... not so. It works, turn the TV off, and everything has to be reset again. Called customer service - two disconnects and 2 "forever" holds - no help whatsoever. Tried on-line chat FIVE times - none of the reps could deviate from their script (got the exact same responses every time) and had no clue what they were talking about - didn't even give proper references to my model TV when telling me what to do but instead used generic terms. I am returning this as I don't want to have to use multiple remotes to control my TV.

Right out of warranty (14 months) the sound became distorted. Sony support offered no options other than to reset the device. All inputs (BD player, cable receiver, Android phone, Sony Bravia TV etc..) come out of the sound bar scratchy/distorted. I spent over $700 for this bar and now I'm stuck. I should have listened to the blogs. My opinion of Sony has been tainted. Sony HT-NT3 Sony Bravia XBR 70X850
