Not bad sound for a sound bar but definitely entry level quality sound if you have any real experience with sound bars. No fault to Sony here, my opinion is strictly based on sound quality and price range. If you want a fairly cheap sound bar that sounds decent then this is a great choice. Never can go wrong with Sony!

My wife surprise me with this sound bar and I couldn't be more happier with the quality of sound on. This bar.

Works great in my bedroom. Definitely an upgrade to my tv's speakers and love the Bluetooth option to listen to my music!

when i purchased my tv the sound wasn't great so i needed a soundbar, the 780 sound is perfect for the tv, great product

For this price you are getting a top of the line soundbar with excellent sound. It really fills the room.

This really helps bring a great quality sound. If you're going to get a large flat screen, this is a must.

Sound is excellent using this Sound Bar. This is my very first time purchasing a Sound Bar, usually I get all speakers.

Good for the price. Easy to set up and sync with sub woofer. I would buy again.

I purchased this soundboard since the reviews I read stated you would get a clearer audio signal than a TVs built in speakers, and this did not disappoint. Vocals are distinct and separate from ambient noise, the controls are simple to use, and the subwoofer is thunderous on a concrete floor.

I just bought this sound bar and love the sound that comes out of it. It was a great addition to my new TV.

My in-laws wanted something simple with a good sound. This works great for them. It was easy to install.

So i was getting the vizio sb40 5.1 but I took my wife a long and this complicated things. She liked the style and form factor the sony bar had because it fit perfectly underneath our sony 4k and despised the plain looking bulky vizio bar. The vizio was going to be 3'' high so it would most likely block the bottom of our tv so I knew I would have to come up with some make shift way of elevating the TV since it is on the stands and when I realized this could make my set up look tacky I started to learn more towards the bar due to 1. style (it looks nice I will admit it) 2. Technology (has arc, has Dolby TruHD and is 4k compatible and has all the new bells and whistles sony came out with this year except for the LDAC) thus making this bar sort of future proof for at least a year. 3. Sound control and sub control on the remote Sound: So I have a strange shaped apartment as I have a wall on one side of my TV and open area to the other side and then my living room is wide. Its not a typical square or enclosed space for any sort of dedicated media room and the flooring is wood. At best buy this was the soundbar that sounded very good but so far I have been underwhelmed with most of my AT&T U-verse. The PS4 has been good (arkham knight) and my xbox nba 2k sounded kinda blah even in the sports or game sound setting. I wont lie, I have been spoiled by a 5.1 bowers and wilkins speaker which I was using predominantly at my old house but space did not make it possible for me to bring it by so of course I wanted a simplistic sound solution hence going for a soundbar and not a home theater in a box (HTIB). Sub: It has a good kick to it and have no real complaints for the few times I tried it on very high, out of 12 I think a 6 is good enough for most viewing. Set up: I have things set up via ARC but it wasn't how I expected it worked, I thought everything was going to be hooked up into my tv and then the ARC output from the TV would go in to the soundbar and I would have sound. I realized that is wrong, you must hook all inputs into the soundbar and then have the arc from the soundbar to the TV. That is kind of annoying because contorting the stiff hdmi in to a strange plug in spot on the bar was kind of difficult. Conclusion: It doesn't sound as good unless you have some device that utilizes Dolby TruHD such as Blu-ray on a new player. Dish/Uverse/Cable wont sound good at all, I was disappointed watching Monday Night Football as I couldn't hear the extra noises from the tackles and field. I am not gonna I don't really feel the trickery of the virtual surround sound and its hard to expect much from a 2.1 system. I am debating about going back to switch it out for the vizio, even though it doesn't have Dolby TruHD (it just has dolby digital and it doesnt have 4k pass through). Plus Vizio is much cheaper and Ill be getting some money back. I will wait to watch some movies and games this weekend to really push the system and make my decision. But i might be disappointed because I have had a HTIB by samsung which was pretty good and just recently was listening to my B&W CM5 rear and CM7 front speakers so it is a big difference when coming from a system like that. If you aren't that big of an audiophile I think this bar would be decent, but at $450 I would expect more channels and more clarity in the voices and sports. I still have time to tinker with the controls and sources I will be using this bar for because I am elite plus so I have 45 days to make a decision but I hope to plan on making one by this weekend. I am giving this soundbar so far a 3 out of 5 and would have given it a 2 but the whole future proof and 4k pass through compared to all the soundbars on the market give it a leg up on its competition. I know sony has a soundbar with rear speakers released in Europe and Australia but it has yet to come out in the states. If it comes out soon that is the one I would be trying to get. This is no comparison to the sound / speakers of my flat screen TV (even though it is Sony brand too). This makes such a big difference for all viewing, movies and regular shows as well. I also love that it is a bluetooth speaker and I can stream music to it from my smart phone.

This is the in-between model and puts out excellent sound. It is not the very best but adquately does the job.
