    Poor compatability with samsung

Really eratic function with the samsung tv, even though the "higher level" sales tech said it was fully compatibe. I had asked them to suggest a compatibe unit: bad idea. Must have been one they were dumping. Do your own research, do not rely on a guy on the floor. Control is really hoky.

    Pretty terrific

As an audiophile I can't give it a 5 star as to me that would mean it's near perfect and sounds fantastic. While it's not at that level I'm rather impressed and very happy with my purchase. It was a somewhat spontaneous buy so I'm glad it went as well as it did. As a long term home theatre fanatic I have far higher standards than most when it comes to AV gear. I've never been a fan of virtual surround systems as, well, they're never as good a true surround. I have a 5.1 system in my living room and 7.2 system in my dedicated home theatre. As such I was leery about a system like this, especially at a relatively non-cheap price but since it was for a small bedroom I'd give it a go. Even if the virtual surround isn't as good as a true 5.1 (and it's not# the room is so small I would never do 5.1 anyway. In short I'm very pleased. The virtual surround isn't really that additive but the far higher fidelity and richness of the sound vs the speakers in my flat panel Samsung is as dramatic as one would assume. Really the only 2 things I don't like are needing to drill a hole in the wall behind the speaker to run the power and optical cable #to keep all wiring 100% invisible, I spend much time/effort/money to ensure this in all my systems# and that I either have to use something like a Logitech Harmony remote as in my application I have it connected optical. I actually like the Samsung remote and as I use it's built in Smart Clients #manly Plex TV). Other than the relatively high price, which does give at least reward you with high fidelity audio, I would recommend this without hesitation, hands down. If you're in the market for a sound bar here is your solution.

    Perfect Fit!

Just bought a Sony Bravia 65" Ultra HD Smart TV 850C and was looking for a Sound system to go with it being as most TVs have weak speakers. I wanted the Sonos System but the Subwoofer was $790, the Sound Bar was $790 and each speaker was $299-$399...not in my budget right now but I will buy that system ASA I can afford it it's simply the best hands down! BUT...for $499 this Sony 2.1 Sound Bar with wireless subwoofer and 330W of maximum power was a perfect fit, easy to set up, and the sound is better than I expected and fills the big room I have it in. Excellent for playing music on Pandora, the Bass is huge, and plenty of power. Movies too. I've yet to sync it with other devises but I'm sure it will be perform just fine. Cons; I wish I could add more wireless speakers to the system down the road and not being able to sync the remote to DirectTV remote is an inconvenience but, all in all a great addition to the Sony Bravia 65" 850C

    No more tangled wires

This replaces my out dated 5 channel surround sound system. That was a rat nest of tangled wires.Sounds great on my new 4K Sony TV.All components hook up to sound bar with HDMI cables and just one HDMI cable to ARC hdmi on tv. The wireless subwoofer you just plug into a power source..Makes for a clean install with out a glob of tangled wires.Had to place sound bar behind TV because it blocked screen when placed in front.Works fine when placed behind TV.Makes them wonder where the great sound is coming from.

    Great soundbar with great sound.

The 780 is a great soundbar with great sound. You will like the sound of this unit and it compliments my Sony TV very well. The wireless bass unit really fills my living room and it blends the sound of music and movies very well. I can't go back to watching TV without it because it sounds like something is missing. With the bar, there is a clarity of voices and spatial sounds that seem to draw you into the program or movies that much more. I own a surround sound system but I prefer to watch regular TV programming with this unit. When I want to watch a movie with BIG sound, I use that system. Otherwise, this system is perfect for everyday use. The system integrates well with a blue tooth device and you can add an app to your device to control the settings. Again, your music and movies will sound great with this unit, and I certainly would recommend the 780 to a friend. Enjoy!

    Excellent sound bar

I bought this sound bar to replace my 5.1 system as that system was becoming too difficult to manage. I wanted something that was nice looking, easy to setup/use, and sounded good. This sound bar does all three of those. First, i did have several requirements. I wanted it to have simulated surround sound (which this does) and to be able to handle advanced sound formats like DTS HD Master (which it does). To be honest, the most difficult part of the setup was getting it out the box as Sony uses some really odd packing methods, but after that, I had setup on my TV stand in about 5 minutes. The subwoofer took another 5 minutes and after turning on, they paired within seconds and i was up and running. I connected my HDMI cable from my HDMI switch and then another HDMI cable to my TV and I was in business. I did run into an issue with HDMI ARC and AnyNet+. Basically, i used the ARC port on my TV and with it being activated on the sound bar, it was using the TV sound decoders to process the sound vice the decoders in the sound bar.. I changed HDMI ports and also turned off the ARC function on the sound and i was back in business. The last issue I had was with AnyNet+. My TV supports it, as this sound bar, but I didn't want to use it. Every time I would turn on the TV, it would connect to the sound bar and then change sound inputs, which caused a delayed in the sound being processed. The good thing is fix was pretty easy (turned off HDMI control on the sound bar and turned of AnyNet+ on my TV). Once these 2 fixes were done, it was smooth sailing. The menu is a lacking i as I would think that they could have it be 2-3 lines given the real estate they have, but it does it job well. You see what type of sound signal is being received (Dolby Digital +, DD, etc) by viewing the stream. It would have been nice if instead of just displaying HDMI 1 all the time, it would show the stream when the signal is first received. Nearly all AV receivers do this. All in all, this sound bar does a few minor quirks, but nothing that reading the manual on it and my TV could not solve. I watched Star Wars on it earlier this week and was very happy. It is not true 5.1, but for a living room, it was plenty loud and sounded excellent.

Unit seems to work when it wants to. Bought it as a mate to my Sony 4K TV that has issues of its own. Should have stuck to my guns and bought Samsung.

I just picked this up last week and was looking for the 770 after researching for months. The setup was simple, pairing the sub was as easy as hitting the button on the back. The HDMI passthrough works like a champ! i have my Tivo, blue ray, and chromecast hooked up and they work flawlessly. The sound quality is excellent. My test anytime i get a new system is watching Jurassic Park and when the t-rex shows up, you know it!. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a good price system, its worth it just for the hdmi passthrough.

Sony never got back to me after a week of phone calls and 2 exchanges.. Sound bar sound like 100 watts not 400 watts. I am sick and bedridden so I am screwed as far as doing a return at this time,, So Best Buy got my $400.00 and I got a weak sounding system total cost $2500 with the 65" Sony TV.. RIDICULOUS!!!

I actually work in the Home Theater Department of a Best Buy for the past 2 years. This sound bar is amazing, especially for the price. The controller gives you the option to control the subwoofer levels, the dialogue, the sound mode, and pairing the Bluetooth device. Amazing product, well done Sony.

My husband and I used to need subtitles to understand tv and movies because we're hard of hearing. With this sound bar, we can hear talking very well. It's also great for movies with the separated speaker and subwoofer. It's all we need for our smaller room. So much cleaner and easier than all the wires and speakers we had with a 5.1 sound system. My only complaint is that we have to turn it on separately from the tv with our Samsung JS8500.

This sound bar is a huge improvement from the built in tv speakers. I've had it for about a month and a half now and i'm really enjoying it. I think it's definitely great for the price point, but the sound will not blow you away. Sometimes I wish I had spent the extra money and gone with the Energy CS-30. Tip: Do not use the cheap optical cable that is included in the box. You may experience serious distortion that way. Use an HDMI cable and plug it into the ports that say ARC (on both tv and sound bar).

I had tried soundbars in the past, but I found most of them to be underwhelming in volume level and functionality. This soundbar will work with a universal remote. The Bluetooth is high quality. The set up is plug and play. Overall very good sound. I am very pleased.
