    This sound bar is not HDCP 2.2 compatible

    I purchased this sound bar to be compatible with my Sony XBR55X810C 4K TV and after installing it I found out that it is not HDCP 2.2 compatible as it states in the documentation. I connected my 4K satellite receiver to it and when I play a 4K video I get an error stating that the component is not HNCP 2.2 compatible and when I bypass the sound bar and connect directly to the TV it works great. I called Sony support and they were useless!!

    great for hearing impaired

    I'm 72 male- hearings not too good-new 43 4k in sony tv with spkrs facing downward was making it hard to hear--no clarity--sounds like people were talking with hand over their mouth- I live in garden apt so only play at normal levels-either this bar or 5000 bucks for hearing aid-got a good deal on open box--mint--sounds are crystal clear now--no more missing most of dialogue--highly recommend over tinny tv speakers--went back and bought another for tv in puter room---its that good

    I use my new sound system for more than just TV, movies, and video games. This product is great for listening to music around the house streaming via Bluetooth from my phone or tablet.

    Don’t waste your money.

    I purchased this Sony sound bar for my new 55” Sony ultra HD TV. The TV works great, the sound bar sucks. Setting it up is a pain in the butt. First it will only take the ARC HDMI input from the TV to the sound bar. No other HDMI inputs will work with the system. The fiber optic cable worked, but only with the TV selected to internal speakers and then the sub-woofer didn’t work. The subwoofer then stopped working completely in only three weeks. Sounded OK for the first three weeks, but now I’m returning it for something else. Don’t waste your money.

    Surprised at Poor Output, HDMI does not work

    Was looking for an upgrade to what we already had with our Sony. The TV has three speakers and I thought picking up a sound bar, that had great reviews online was the way to go. As soon as it was hooked up I noticed a very tinny output from the sound bar. Many adjustments later using the menu and trying to change things on the TV as well has not improved what I would consider a low quality sound. Ok, it's not a high end item, but still. We are returning it for either the Bose or the Klipsch system. Need a wireless subwoofer so probably the Klipsch.

    Great Soundbar, but stopped working at 1 month

    Great soundbar w/ a slim design; however, it stopped working after 1 month. Disappointed in Best Buy's willingness to do an even exchange outside of the 14 days seeing that I'm a frequent purchasing customer. Reached out to Sony and they want me to pay to ship it to them... seems backwards that the customer has to pay to replace a defective soundbar that's under warranty. I'm planning to just start shopping Amazon more often because of their free returns and longer return window.

    Our TV had horrible sound even when almost all the way up. Theven sound bar made everything more clear and louder.

    Weak bass/not impressed

    Bought this product to replace a dated 5 disk DVD surround sound system. Very disappointed in the performance of this product. With the base turned to its highest level (12), and the sound control for bass adjusted to its highest level (6+) it was barely audible. I tried movies and various songs with heavy bass lines and I could barely hear the base notes. Sound bar itself wasn't bad, but I saw no special difference between my tv and the sound bar. I am underwhelmed with the sound quality and bass depth of this product. Additionally, I plugged all HDMI cords into sound bar, and I plugged HDMI from sound bar to TV, and there was no picture displaying on my tv. I tried a combination of different HDMI cords in different ports with no success in getting a picture to appear. The only time my video would appear was when I turned off the sound bar. Since images displayed with the sound bar turned off, there was obviously a connection. I could not figure out how to keep picture on screen and sound bar on at the same time, even after reading through the entire manual. Finally, I plugged all devices back into my tv and connected only the optical cord from tv to sound bar. That is the only way I could get image on tv and sound through sound bar simultaneously. Maybe I have a faulty unit, but I am not impressed at all with this product. I will be returning this unit for something different tomorrow.

    Worst Sony purchase ever

    It lost link to sub. I went on-line for a repair. The only thing I learned was many many attempts by many people with no resolution. I have 3 Sony blue rays, TV even a old vhs. No response from Sony. I need to change brands from Sony. Be Careful and don't buy this

    Xmas Gift Ruined by Best Buy

    I'm sure the sound bar is okay. But I won't know, because I'm returning it. I asked the section manager if this Sony soundbar would mount on my Sony TV and if it had the included equipment to do that. He said it would and did. He then confirmed that with another Best Buy clerk. I would have bought mounting hardware if needed. This was a last minute Christmas gift. So, when it was opened Christmas morning, it wouldn't mount to the TV. All that included is a wall mount. Even IF I the recipient wanted to put holes in the wall, they couldn't mount it that way because the TV is in a CORNER. So, they couldn't install and use the gift. Big failure by Best Buy. I recommend considering getting such complex audio hardware at a different store, perhaps online, where they know what mounting hardware is installed. Disappointed.

    speaker blew out

    I had high expectations for this sony sound bar. Salesperson at best buy advised it was a very good system for the money. Got it home and hooked it up. Pretty easy set up. Little over a year later, half of the sound bar speakers blew out and now i have to really crank up the volume to barely hear it. I never cranked it up even close to max volume before the speaker blew. Very disappointed in this sony product and i didn't buy the protection plan. i plan on buying either a Klipsch or Polk sound bar next. I will never buy sony again.

      Hi m5351, thank you for taking the time to write a review. We're sorry to hear about what happened to your unit. If the system still does not operate properly, reset the system as follows:
      Press/(on/standby) to turn on the system.
      2 Press MENU.
      3 Select [SYSTEM] with (select), then press ENTER.
      4 Select [SYS.RST] with (select), then press ENTER.
      5 When [START] appears on the display of the Bar Speaker, press ENTER.
      [RESET] appears on the display, and the settings of the menu and sound
      fields, etc. return to their initial status.
      6 When [RESET] disappears, disconnect the AC power cord (mains lead).
      7 Connect the AC power cord (mains lead), then press/(on/standby)to turn on the system.

      If the issue persists, we would like to recommend you to send you unit to a Sony Facility to be repaired, please visit eservice.sony.com for more information.

    This soundbar does pretty well for being one of the more lower priced ones available from Sony. Crisp clear sound, decent bass, and the auto sync to the tv works well. It made me realize how tinny my similarly priced lg soundbar was

    This is great soundbar for the price. This is the first soundbar I've ever purchased and I'm completely satisfied with the way it performs. I have a large open living room/kitchen area and have not had an issue with this at all.

    Bought today because my old home theater broke. It sounded nice at the store but the sound gets lost in my open living room, started reading and found out the it only provides 300 watts, it would probably work fine in a bedroom but definitely not for a living room. I'm returning it tomorrow to exchange for something more powerful. I would like to add that the sound quality does sound clear just not loud enough.

    Terrible Service

    After a few months of owning this product, it would no longer work by remote. I tried a couple remotes and it wasn't working. I have made 4 calls to Sony so far and they have not resolved the issue. They keep telling me someone will call to get the repair taken care of but it's not getting done. TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!!!!!!!!!!
