Looked at a lot of reviews and I priced match this item online and I received the lower price at BB. ---Eric at Westminster was very helpful and I did not feet pressured. Regarding proudct, the pros and cons: PROS: Very sleek, clean, simple look. It dissapeared when I placed my 46" TV over it. Great WAF! (Wife Acceptance Factor). Pairng this soundbar with my Sony HX929 was seemless. If you have a Sony (not heavier than 60 lbs or 55 inch) I would definitrely take a look at this item. CONS: Manual sucks and at times was very confusing. Basically, connect your BD player, ROKU, PS4, etc. to TV HDMI #2, #3, #4 etc. AND connect Soundbar XT1 via HDMI (out) to TV HDMI #1 (in). Switch all inputs from your TV remote and make sure to use 1.4a HDMI cables. Congratulations you now have a great sounding very sleek system!

I actually use this for my current primary desktop computer. That machine uses a 40 inch 4K monitor as the primary display. I had a Logitech setup with it, but it just took up too much space. I replaced it with the Sony HT-XT1 and could not be happier. Sound quality has improved over my old speakers, as space requirements forced me to put those speakers behind the TV. Not optimal. With this unit under the TV, everything sounds great. I also have other devices using the TV, so the multiple HDMI connections are a bonus. I did look into other similar units from LG, Klipsch, and Bose. The only one that came close to this one in sound quality was the Bose, but that was at twice the price. Very good product for the price. I highly recommend it.

Awesome sound from a budget sound system

So my first sound bar was a Yamaha I purchased from Amazon on Prime Day for $150. It was decent but all I would hear is bass and nothing about felt like surround sound. When I saw the Sony HTXT1 on sale at Best Buy, I decided to take a look at the other reviews and then decided to check it out in store. I can honestly say this sound bar blows the Yamaha away in terms of bass, and audio richness from TV programs, movies, video games and music. I love using NFC to pair my phone to play music from it. Just tap and it's paired! I don't use my Big Jambox anymore because the HTXT1 makes music sound so much better! What's even better is that I got the sound bar for $175 as an Open Box item. It was in great condition (the Yamaha was refurbished and used, with scratches on the top if its glossy surface); I've yet to see a blemish on the HTXT1. I had to get it shipped to me but I was ok with the 10 day wait. However, when I got the email that my item shipped, the delivery date updated to it being delivered on the following Tuesday and I ordered it on Sunday! I was amazed at the super fast, free shipping. My Sony TV is made to be set on top of the sound bar which gives it a few inches more height and an overall better viewing angle for my TV. All in all, I'm extremely happy with this sound bar and the whole Open Box online order experience. If you have the opportunity to get it as an opened item over brand new, do it! Not only are you saving $75 but the product is pretty much identical to getting it new with the same Best Buy return policy. This is money very well spent for my small gaming room as the bar fills the room with great bass and clear vocal audio. I can't praise the Sony HTXT1 enough, especially at this great price!

I purchased this on here as open box but everything was like new as promised. Sony generally produces very high quality home electronics and this is no exception. It may be a little pricey (especially new) but the sound is good for medium LCD flat screen TVs for an easy upgrade. The setup can be a little fussy at first. Navigating the setup menu through the included basic remote can be non-intuitive but you won't need to do that much in the future after the settings are just right. I control my volume through a Sony TV remote which automatically detects and switches to the audio system for picture (most of the time) and sound.

excellent, but poor manual, HDMI CEC/ARC tricky

I bought this on an open box sale to augment my 3-year old Insignia 42" TV. Delivery was fantastic: I ordered it Friday morning and even though the estimated delivery time was a week away it was delivered Saturday morning. (Presumably the warehouse was near a UPS main office.) Unfortunately I discovered in short order why it was open box: after about an hour it shut down without warning; I could restart it later and it would again intermittently fail. Kudos to Best Buy: they exchanged it for a new one in a factory-sealed box without any extra charge when I took it to a local store. Sound is excellent and the unit is really slick looking (I especially like that the small indicator panel can be turned off.) The ability to stream music from my iPhone via bluetooth is nice, but the manual should have been clear you have to "add" any apps you want to stream from. Setting up the INLink (HDMI CEC) on the Insignia was a bit tricky and I can only get the TV to route sound to the HT-XT1 reliably through the ARC if I never turn the HT-XT1 off. When the TV is turned off and auto turns off the XT1 when the TV is then turned back on, which turns on the XT1, no sound comes through either device. If I set the INLink not to control the XT1 power, it seems to work. My guess is that the Insignia is confused about where to send the audio if the XT1 is off when the TV first comes up. I may try connecting the fiber-optic digital link and run the HDMI cable between non-ARC connectors on both devices (to carry the CEC signals), but getting at the connectors in my setup is a bit tricky and I'm lazy. The manual is unfortunately one of those manuals poorly translated from the Japanese; the Insignia one isn't much better, so neither was much help in figuring out what works.

Setup was fast and easy. This is a low profile unit that looks great in my bedroom. Played a Blu Ray movie and the sound quality was better than expected. The voice dialogue was exceptionally clear and not muted in the movie. You need to hear it. I've even tested the Android app that controls the unit and it's geeky cool. Just got done streaming music via Bluetooth which is another great feature. It's a great purchase. FWIW, I am a Sony guy and always have been. This unit is a great product from Sony.

Excellent way to enhance TV sound in a small space

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I have a 40" SONY Bravia HDTV in our bedroom. I wanted to enhance the sound without putting in a full 5.1 system. My living room is already equipped with a 5.1 system, but I wanted more than just the TV speaker sound in the bedroom without sacrificing space. I originally looked at soundbars but each of those sat in front of the TV taking up more space and not visually appealing in the bedroom. When I found the SONY HTXT1 I was skeptical, but after seeing it at a local Best Buy and also hearing it, I was impressed. If your TV is a SONY they play well together via HDMI controls. It's easy to setup and you'll love the enhanced sound experience for both movies and music. You won't get the thumping bass as you would in a normal system, but again, this was for my bedroom and I was not looking for that kind of sound, especially when most of my TV watching is at night. If you live in an apartment or condo where a conventional subwoofer could be a problem for your neighbors, you'll like the added bass this system delivers. Perfect for small rooms. I would not recommend this for a large living room.

    Good overall, but...

I was interested in a CT370 but this soundbar with integrated subwoofer caught my eye, and was in a similar price range. It sounded good enough at the store and the several features looked pretty great. After hooking it up to my TV (a Bravia W600) and computer through HDMI ports it delivers good sound and is fit to small spaces since it just sits under the TV. However there still are a few quirks. First of all the Bluetooth function absolutely never worked with any of my portable devices : iPhone 6, iPhone 4 and iPad 3 all failed to play any sound through the XT1. They pair correctly, the XT1 appears in the SongPal app, however everytime I switch the sound output to the soundbar I get only faint static and no music at all. Not overly excited at the idea of having to unplug everything and bring it back to the store already... and this is a feature I was not planning on using extensively anyway, but if you're interested in it be aware... Second, it's already happened a couple times, the bar would become completely mute and not issue any sound at all. I have noticed it was happening when the input source was turned on before the bar itself, and that in my case (a PC) rebooting fixed the issue. Trying to switch Inputs with the remote didn't help, turning off and on the bar didn't help either. For this price range the sound quality is very good, but these problems for a Sony product are underwhelming.

Just purchased on 9/20/14 and it was up and running in less than an hour. I love the three HDMI ports and it works grear switching inbetween devices. Have a Tivo Premere, Apple TV and a Pioneer blu-ray player hooked up. The bluetooth worked great with my iPhone 5s and I appreciate the front display. I picked it up on sale for $269.00. I am in a one bedroom apartment and it offers great sound in my livingroom. I say go for it over some more expensive options.

Just bought a great Sony 55" inch with an awesome picture but bad speakers. This makes things so much better. Movies sound great and can ever rattle the walls with the right settings and regular tv sounds nice and clear. Super easy set up and the sound stand itself looks great!

I was looking for a reasonably priced sound bar for our Samsung 55" LED TV and most of the sound bars were either too big, too expensive, or not rated too highly. I tried this Sony sound plate on the premise it would fit under the TV stand, was rated high, and was reasonably priced. I am very glad I made the purchase. it sounds really good for the size and is just big enough to fit the TV stand. Sales guy at the store also confirmed my purchase recommending the product. easy to set up and TV remote controls the volume. turns on and off with the TV power as well.

    Great Sound

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I purchased this sound bar mostly because my TV stand is the exact width of the TV, but not a rectangular base for it to sit on and I had to move the feet of the TV to the inner position. This eliminated using a standard bar and I needed it to support the weight of my Sony 55" LED TV. There were not a lot of options out there and I was deciding between this and the Bose Solo 15. The sound of the Bose was a little better, but was not worth the significant increase in price. Overall the sound is excellent, far better than the built-in sound form the TV and it looks great sitting under the TV as well.

Needed to both improve bad 55" living room TV sound and add Bluetooth but wasn't crazy about sound bars. After stumbling on this nice surprise in the showroom had a look at several high and low end bases varying in price and size. Really impressed with this unit's sound, quality, look, price, practicality and features. The built in subwoofers won't thump but they're not designed to. You likely won't need it as the sound quality makes up for it. An elegant glass top, touch on/off/pairing, pyramid legs, led display and even the remote are all well done. Only knock, the sound selection via remote is slightly complicated and the unit would be better paired with a Sony TV but conveniently the Sony app helps. Overall it's a real keeper, renewing my long belief in Sony quality.

    Bought for the Master Bedroom

Our upstairs Master Bedroom is really warm in the Winter, but we never wanted to watch movies there as our family room has surround sound. The Sony - 2.1-Channel TV Sound System with Dual Built-In Subwoofers is perfect for our bedroom and 32" TV. The sound is BIG and crisp. It was also easy to pair with my iPod. With the comfort of our bed for the Mr. the two pups and me…we may rethink if this is only a Winter arrangement! This product was reviewed by CNET and they listed it in an article "Best Sound Bars of 2014" and ranked it higher than BOSE, which is almost double the price tag.

I was looking for a sound system with several HDMI ports that cost under $1000. It was near impossible to find until I stumbled upon this gem. As a previous reviewer mentioned, you need to lower the sub volume....I actually have it at 4. If you do not lower it, the sound will crackle during loud scenes. My only compliant is that I actually have to shelf the unit b.c my TV weights about 75 pounds (Love my plasma's). If you feed your HDMI devices into the receiver it will automatically change inputs once the device is powered on.

I bought this last week and am very impressed. I live in a condo and didn't want a big system with a woofer to bother my neighbors, while wanting to have enhanced sounds to hear the voices/dialogue better. This is perfect for that. My parents have a Bose system, which sounds fine, but can't be manipulated. With this Sony system, you can change the bass and treble and the sound is crystal clear. It will boom if you want it to though. Amazing sound, price, and functionality.

I liked the sound, price, ease of hook up and features of this sound bar. What I didn't like is how my TV looked on top of it. I have my Sony TV (XBR55X850CSKU) on a nice piece of furniture and by adding this sound bar it changed the whole look of it. The TV is raised up about 2 1/2 inches and to me it just didn't look right. I ended up going with the SONY HTCT380 which looks much nicer and has much better bass because of the included subwoofer unit.
